As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 560 and an area of 5.0 square kilometres (1.9 sq mi). Monchiero borders the following municipalities: Dogliani, Lequio Tanaro, Monforte d'Alba, and Novello.

Barolo is an important wine-producing area noted for its Barolo wine of the same name, and many wineries such as Poderi Colla have vineyards here. Barolo is home to the multi colored art project The Chapel of Barolo by American artist Sol LeWitt and English artist David Tremlett created in 1999. It is a member of the I Borghi più belli d'Italia ("The most beautiful villages of Italy") association.

Giacomo Conterno is an Italian wine producer from the Piemonte region in the district of Langhe. From a winery located in Monforte d'Alba, the Barolo and Barbera wines are made by traditionalist methods and are widely considered among the finest produced in the Barolo zone.

The Visconti Castle is a medieval one, uilt in the 14th century by Luchino Visconti, Lord of Milan, and partly reconstructed at the beginning of the 20th century.On 28 April 1796 in Cherasco was signed an armistice between Victor Amadeus III of Sardinia and Napoleon Bonaparte.

Monforte d'Alba borders the following municipalities: Barolo, Castiglione Falletto, Dogliani, Monchiero, Novello, Roddino, and Serralunga d'Alba. It is a member of the I Borghi più belli d'Italia ("The most beautiful villages of Italy") association. Monforte d'Alba is part of the zone of the Barolo wine production area.

As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 845 and an area of 17.2 square kilometres (6.6 sq mi). The municipality of Clavesana contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Madonna delle Neve (location of the town hall), Ghigliani, Sbaranzo, Surie, Costa Prà, Feia, Prato del Pozzo, Cravili, Ansaldi, Villero, Gorea, Chiecchi, San Pietro, San Bartolomeo, Gai, Gerino, and Tetti. The Visconti Castle of Cherasco is a medieval castle in Cherasco, Piedmont, Northern Italy. It was built in the 14th century by Luchino Visconti, Lord of Milan, and partly reconstructed at the beginning of the 20th century.
