West Reading is a borough in Berks County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 4,212 at the 2010 census. It contains a vibrant main street (Penn Avenue) and the large Reading Hospital and Medical Center. It was also the site of the VF Outlet Village, one of the largest outlet malls in the United States. The VF Outlet Village was located in the buildings of the former Berkshire Knitting Mills, which was in operation from 1908 to 1975. The VF Outlet closed in 2020.

Charles S. Foos Elementary School, also known as Douglass and Weiser School, is a historic elementary school building located at Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1903 and was expanded and renovated in 1912. A small addition was built in 1921. It was originally in the Romanesque Revival style, but transformed to the Classical Revival style with the renovations. The C-shaped brick building contains 21 classrooms and an auditorium that seats over 200. The school closed in 1979. Part of the very large school building is now a nursery school, and part condominiums. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. It is located in the Queen Anne Historic District.

On March 24, 2023, an explosion occurred at a chocolate factory operated by the R.M. Palmer Company in West Reading, Pennsylvania. Seven people died and ten were injured, including one rescued from rubble. At around 4:57 p.m (EST), it sent plumes of smoke into the air and shook houses. Investigators are determining the cause, which may be connected to a gas leak.

The district encompasses 2,405 contributing buildings in Reading built between about 1880 and 1925. The district consists primarily of semi-detached houses and rowhouses, with a few stone church buildings and small commercial buildings. Most of the buildings are constructed of brick and reflective of Late Victorian and early 20th-century architectural styles. The churches are St. Mary's Episcopal Church (1904) and Wesley United Methodist Church (1922). Located in the district and separately listed are the Charles S. Foos Elementary School and former Meinig Glove Factory-E. Richard Meinig Co.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

Reading Hospital is a level I trauma center and certified stroke center. With more than 133,500 annual visits, the emergency department is the single busiest site in Pennsylvania and the 11th busiest nationwide. The hospital operates several residency training programs for newly graduated physicians such as internal medicine, internal medicine osteopathic, transitional year, family medicine, OB/GYN, emergency medicine, anesthesiology, general surgery, neurology, podiatric surgery & psychiatry. One year pharmacy residency is also offered. The residency programs are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. The internal medicine residency is also accredited by the American Osteopathic Association.

Greenfields is a census-designated place in Bern Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is located approximately one mile to the west of the city of Reading at the confluence of the Tulpehocken Creek and Schuylkill River. As of the 2010 census, the population was 1,170 residents.

GoggleWorks Center for the Arts is a community art and cultural resource center located in Reading, Pennsylvania. The mission of the GoggleWorks is “to transform lives through unique interactions with art.” Located in the former Willson Goggle Factory building, GoggleWorks Center for the Arts features eight teaching studios in ceramics, hot and warm glass, metalsmithing, photography, printmaking, woodworking and virtual reality; 35 juried artist studios; and headquarters of over 40 cultural organizations. GoggleWorks also includes several exhibition galleries, a 130-seat film theatre, a bar/restaurant, and store featuring handcrafted works by over 200 artists working within the building and beyond. Admission (excluding special events) and parking are always free. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.

As of the 2020 census, the population was 11,114, compared to 10,461 at the 2010 census. The growth was significantly larger between 2000 and 2010 largely because of its merger in January 2002 with neighboring Wyomissing Hills. Wyomissing is the most populous borough in Berks County.The borough is recognized as a Tree City USA and selected as a "Contender" for the best places to live in Pennsylvania by Money magazine.

The institution is an Hispanic-serving institution ('HSI') as defined by federal law (the Higher Education Opportunity Act, Title V, 2008).
