Reading Hospital is a 738-bed non-profit teaching hospital located in West Reading, Pennsylvania. The hospital was established in 1867 and is the anchor institution of Tower Health. Reading Hospital is a level I trauma center and certified stroke center. With more than 133,500 annual visits, the emergency department is the single busiest site in Pennsylvania and the 11th busiest nationwide. The hospital operates several residency training programs for newly graduated physicians such as internal medicine, internal medicine osteopathic, transitional year, family medicine, OB/GYN, emergency medicine, anesthesiology, general surgery, neurology, podiatric surgery & psychiatry. One year pharmacy residency is also offered. The residency programs are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. The internal medicine residency is also accredited by the American Osteopathic Association.

Berks Catholic High School is a four-year comprehensive coeducational Roman Catholic preparatory secondary school located in Reading, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It was formed out of a merger of Holy Name High School and Reading Central Catholic High School in 2011. It is approved and accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and the Diocese of Allentown.

Holy Name High School was a four-year comprehensive coeducational Roman Catholic preparatory/secondary school located in Reading, Pennsylvania. It was approved and accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and the Diocese of Allentown. The school's athletic rivals included Wyomissing Area High School and Reading Central Catholic High School. Following the 2010-2011 Academic Year, the Diocese of Allentown closed both Holy Name High School and Reading Central Catholic High School. The Diocese then established a new secondary school, Berks Catholic High School, which officially opened on July 1, 2011, on the site of the former Holy Name High School.

West Reading is a borough in Berks County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 4,212 at the 2010 census. It contains a vibrant main street (Penn Avenue) and the large Reading Hospital and Medical Center. It was also the site of the VF Outlet Village, one of the largest outlet malls in the United States. The VF Outlet Village was located in the buildings of the former Berkshire Knitting Mills, which was in operation from 1908 to 1975. The VF Outlet closed in 2020.

Its programming is also carried on FM translators W253CK (98.5). WRLD previously broadcast all home and away games of the Reading Fightin Phils, the Double-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, and the Reading Royals of the ECHL. Cumulus Media sold the station to Major Keystone LLC on September 24, 2021. On January 17, 2022, following the sale's completion, the then-WIOV changed its format from sports to rhythmic CHR, branded as "Loud 98.5"; the "Loud" programming, including the WQHT-based morning show Ebro in the Morning, had previously aired on W257DI (99.3 FM) and on the HD3 channel of WLEV.The station changed its call sign to WRLD on May 1, 2023.

On March 24, 2023, an explosion occurred at a chocolate factory operated by the R.M. Palmer Company in West Reading, Pennsylvania. Seven people died and ten were injured, including one rescued from rubble. At around 4:57 p.m (EST), it sent plumes of smoke into the air and shook houses. Investigators are determining the cause, which may be connected to a gas leak.

Wyomissing Creek is a 9.1-mile-long (14.6 km) tributary of the Schuylkill River in Berks County, Pennsylvania in the United States. Wyomissing Creek joins the Schuylkill River at the boundary of West Reading Borough and the City of Reading, Pennsylvania. Wyomissing is a name derived from a Native American language purported to mean "place of flats".

Tulpehocken Creek is a 39.5-mile-long (63.6 km) tributary of the Schuylkill River in southeastern Pennsylvania in the United States, and during the American Canal Age, once provided nearly half the length of the Union Canal linking the port of Philadelphia, the largest American city and the other communities of Delaware Valley with the Susquehanna basin and the Pennsylvania Canal System connecting the Eastern seaboard to Lake Erie and the new settlements of the Northwest Territory via the Allegheny, Monongahela, and Ohio Rivers at Pittsburgh. An important transportation route in the early United States, the creek drains a limestone hill country area of Berks County south of the Appalachian Mountains and is considered one of the finest trout streams in southeastern Pennsylvania. The valley of the creek was known in colonial times as the Tulpehocken, stretching west of Reading. It was inhabited by the Lenape and was a destination for early German-speaking settlers. The name comes from a Lenape word Tulpewikaki, meaning "land of turtles". It is a designated Pennsylvania Scenic River. Major tributaries include the Cacoosing Creek, Spring Creek and Northkill Creek.

Reading Area Community College (RACC) is a public community college in Reading, Pennsylvania. The college was founded in 1971 and serves the greater Reading area and Berks County, Pennsylvania. The institution is an Hispanic-serving institution ('HSI') as defined by federal law (the Higher Education Opportunity Act, Title V, 2008).

Keystone Hook and Ladder Company is a historic fire station located at Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1886–1887, and is a two-story, brick building in the Queen Anne style. A two-story annex was added in 1888 or 1890. The front facade features a wooden bell tower with a pyramidal roof.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

GoggleWorks Center for the Arts is a community art and cultural resource center located in Reading, Pennsylvania. The mission of the GoggleWorks is “to transform lives through unique interactions with art.” Located in the former Willson Goggle Factory building, GoggleWorks Center for the Arts features eight teaching studios in ceramics, hot and warm glass, metalsmithing, photography, printmaking, woodworking and virtual reality; 35 juried artist studios; and headquarters of over 40 cultural organizations. GoggleWorks also includes several exhibition galleries, a 130-seat film theatre, a bar/restaurant, and store featuring handcrafted works by over 200 artists working within the building and beyond. Admission (excluding special events) and parking are always free. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.
