The 2017 Verona bus crash was a traffic collision that happened around midnight at night of 20–21 January 2017 on the A4 motorway at San Martino Buon Albergo, near Verona, in Italy. A coach that was transporting Hungarian high school students (14–18 yrs old) and their teachers back from a skiing trip in France collided with the highway traffic barrier, crashed into a bridge pylon, and then caught fire.The fire charred the bus. Sixteen people on board the bus were killed and at least 26 sustained injuries, 10 serious and two life-threatening. Some of the bodies of victims were burned beyond recognition, and the investigation team had to take DNA samples of the parents of the deceased victims to identify the bodies. One of the seriously injured victims suffered third-degree burns. He died on 22 March, raising the number of victims to 17. The accident became the second most severe foreign bus crash involving Hungarians after the 1999 Deutschlandsberg bus crash in which 18 people were killed.

The Battle of Caldiero took place on 30 October 1805, pitting the French Armée d'Italie under Marshal André Masséna against an Austrian army under the command of Archduke Charles, Duke of Teschen. The French engaged only some of their forces, around 33,000 men, but Archduke Charles engaged the bulk of his army, 49,000 men, leaving out Paul Davidovich's corps to defend the lower Adige and Franz Seraph of Orsini-Rosenberg's corps to cover the Austrian right against any flanking maneuvers. The fighting took place at Caldiero, 15 kilometres east of Verona, during the War of the Third Coalition, part of the Napoleonic Wars.

Verona Porta Vescovo (Italian: Stazione di Verona Porta Vescovo) is a railway station serving the city of Verona, in the region of Veneto, northern Italy. The station opened in 1847 and is located on the Milan–Venice railway. The train services are operated by Trenitalia. Porta Vescovo is the lesser of the two stations that serve Verona. It lies outside the 19th-century Habsburg city fortifications, a short distance from the eponymous city gate and a thirty-minute walk from the city centre. At one time, the station served the important military garrison and it was the major railway station for Verona. This changed as Porta Nuova station, south of the city was opened (in 1913) and developed into a major hub. The station has a magazine stall and cafe, from where tickets are issued.
