Point No Point Light (Washington)

Point No Point is an outcropping of land on the northeast point of the Kitsap Peninsula in Washington, the United States. It was the location of the signing of the Point No Point Treaty and is the site of the Point No Point Light. It was named by Charles Wilkes during the United States Exploring Expedition of Puget Sound in 1841. Wilkes gave the point its name because it appears much less of a promontory at close range than it does from a distance. Point No Point has been noted for its unusual place name.The marine climate ensures plenty of precipitation in winter and mild temperatures in summer. There are many productive habitats. The spit itself has sandy beaches with log jams, as well as some man-made structures for boating. Behind the beaches is a large mixed freshwater/saltwater marsh with a substantial shrub component. The waters surrounding the point react to swiftly running tides, attracting many marine bird species. And there is a somewhat sheltered bay as well.

Norwegian Point is low and rounding, about 0.2 mile northwest of Hansville, Washington in Kitsap County, Washington, located at the northern end of the Kitsap Peninsula, affording sweeping views of Admiralty Inlet, Whidbey Island, and Puget Sound. A conspicuous, privately owned lighthouse, Skunk Bay Lighthouse, is located 210 feet above the water about 1 mile west of Norwegian Point.

Hansville is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Kitsap County, Washington, United States. Its population was 3,858 as of the 2020 census. The coastal community is located at the northern end of the Kitsap Peninsula and is about 16 miles (26 km) northeast of Poulsbo, the nearest city.

Buck Lake is a small lake in unincorporated Kitsap County, Washington. The lake, near the unincorporated census-designated place of Hansville, occupies an area of 18.6 acres at a maximum depth of 24 feet. The lake takes its name from a buck, though the exact species it references is unclear. Bird species such as the Osprey and Great Blue Heron have been present at the lake. In 2009, the Kitsap County Planning and Environmental Programs division found an improving trend for E. coli bacteria levels. The Buck Lake County Park is located at the southeast corner of the lake, which has picnic areas, restrooms, beach access, volleyball and basketball courts, and a ball field. A new playground was completed in 2019, the Kitsap County Parks Department's first ADA-compliant playground. To the west and south of the lake is the Hansville Greenway, a 264-acre nature preserve with walking and equestrian trails in a wetland environment. The Greater Hansville Community Center is also located at the lake. Buck Lake is a swimming destination. All swimming lake beaches in the county, including Buck Lake, have free loaner life jackets for children. Like other county beaches, water quality is monitored by the Kitsap Public Health District every other week. The lake was staffed by lifeguards until 2006. Unlike other popular county lakes such as Island Lake and Horseshoe Lake, there are much fewer residences on Buck Lake and the watershed is described as "rural residential" and "rural wooded." Buck Lake is also known for rainbow trout fishing, with well over 1,400 fish being released annually by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. Since 2018, the majority of fish released into Buck Lake have been raised at Eells State Trout Hatchery near Skokomish, WA. There is a gravel boat launch on the east shore of the lake.

Eglon is an unincorporated community in Kitsap County, Washington, United States. The town has a community center, a church, a cemetery, a boat launch, a beach, and a picnic area. Its Fire Protection services are provided by North Kitsap Fire and Rescue.

Coon Bay, also known as Sheltered Bay, is a small, nearly landlocked harbor, which opens to the Hood Canal about 2.5 miles south of Foulweather Bluff. Although non-member space is limited, the harbor offers excellent protection for small boats during periods of rough weather. The privately dredged entrance channel is narrow and has a reported controlling depth of about 3 feet. There are several private piers inside the entrance. It lies near the town of Hansville, Washington, adjacent to a group of subdivisions generally called "Driftwood Key" or "Driftwood Keys". The bay was originally dredged from a marshy estuary in 1963 in order to facilitate recreational boat access to Coon Bay and residential development. Prior to the development, it was a private duck and black brant hunting area. Over a dozen subdivisions were eventually platted, with both shoreline and upland residential lots. The area is the location of the "Driftwood Key Club", which provides its members with access to the private marina, boat launch, swimming pool and clubhouse.

Little Boston is a community in Kitsap County, Washington, United States. It is located on the east side of Port Gamble, an inlet or bay of Hood Canal, and is direct across the bay from the unincorporated community of Port Gamble. Little Boston is within the Port Gamble Indian Reservation, which houses the Port Gamble band of the S'Klallam tribe. The Port Gamble S'Klallam Reservation consists of 1,340 acres (5 km2) of land held in trust by the federal government. There is no private land ownership on the reservation. Most of the land is in the forest with residential, business, and office areas. The land is listed by the U.S. Census Bureau as the Port Gamble Tribal Community census-designated place, with a population of 916 as of the 2010 census.The reservation receives approximately 20 inches (510 mm) of rain per year due to its location in the Olympic Mountain rain shadow. The reservation lands rise from the beach to gently rolling terrain. Port Gamble Bay is the last bay in Kitsap County that is still open for commercial shellfish harvest. The Tribe has a hatchery on Middle Creek. Bear, deer, and other wildlife also live on the reservation.

Useless Bay is a bay in the U.S. state of Washington. Part of Puget Sound, Useless Bay is located in Island County near the southern end of Whidbey Island, between Cultus Bay and Mutiny Bay. Useless Bay was so named on account of frequent inclement weather.

Port Gamble is an unincorporated community on the northwestern shore of the Kitsap Peninsula in Kitsap County, Washington, United States. It is also a small, eponymous bay, along which the community lies, near the entrance to Hood Canal. The unincorporated communities of Port Gamble and Little Boston, part of Kitsap County, lie on the west and the east side, respectively, of the mouth of this bay. The Port Gamble Historic District, a U.S. National Historic Landmark, covers one of the nation's best-preserved western lumber towns. The community of Port Gamble has a wide range of shops from antiques to a tea shop to an old-fashioned general store. It is a popular tourist destination, due to its location near Bremerton, Port Townsend, Bainbridge Island, and Seattle. Port Gamble is home to the grave of Gustave Englebrecht, the first U.S. Navy sailor to die in the Pacific.

The Battle of Port Gamble was an isolated engagement between the United States and the Tlingit on 21 November 1856. It occurred during, but was not a part of, the Yakima War. Though a minor incident, it is historically notable for the first U.S. Navy battle death in the Pacific Ocean.

Maxwelton is an unincorporated community located on the south end of Whidbey Island, Washington.A post office called Maxwelton was established in 1908 and remained in operation until 1924. The community was named after Maxwelltown, in Scotland.
