St Mary's Church, Acton, London

Library for Iranian Studies is a major Persian library in Acton district of London, England. It has over 30,000 books in the Persian language, as well as English and other languages. The library receives no governmental funding and is voluntary controlled.

Acton was a local government district in Middlesex, England from 1865 to 1965.

Churchfield Road, Acton, runs north of and parallel to Acton High Street. At the eastern end is the level crossing of Acton Central railway station after which it becomes East Churchfield Road. The western end forms a junction of which the northern road is Horn Lane, the southern Market Place and the western, the now pedestrianised King Street. St. Mary's Burial Ground lies on the southern side of the centre section of the road. It has its own community association formed in 2001.

Acton () is a town and area in west London, England, within the London Borough of Ealing. It is 6.1 miles (10 km) west of Charing Cross. At the 2011 census, its four wards, East Acton, Acton Central, South Acton and Southfield, had a population of 62,480, a ten-year increase of 8,791 people. North Acton, West Acton, East Acton, South Acton, Acton Green, Acton Town, Acton Vale and Acton Central are all parts of Acton. Acton means "oak farm" or "farm by oak trees", and is derived from the Old English āc (oak) and tūn (farm). Originally an ancient village, as London expanded, Acton was absorbed into the city. Since 1965, Acton equates to the east of the London Borough of Ealing, though some of East Acton is in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham and a small portion of South Acton is in the London Borough of Hounslow. Central Acton is synonymous with the hub of commerce and retail on the former main road between London and Oxford (the Uxbridge Road); a reminder of its history is in its inns, which date back in cases to the late Tudor period as stopping places for travellers. Nowadays, the principal route linking London and Oxford (the A40 dual carriageway) bypasses central Acton, but passes through East Acton and North Acton.

Twyford C of E High School is a co-educational Church of England Academy school located in Acton, west London. It consists of just under 1500 pupils aged 11–18 (with over 500 students in the Sixth Form) and has specialisms in music, science and languages. On 1 October 2011, the school converted to academy status and is now operated by the Twyford Church of England Academies Trust. It has been rated as "outstanding" by the Schools Inspection Agency, Ofsted.

Twyford Church of England Academies Trust is a multi-academy trust based in West London and affiliated to the London Diocesan Board for Schools. It currently consists of three academies in the London Borough of Ealing: Twyford Church of England High School, William Perkin Church of England High School and Ealing Fields High School. The trust received permission in October 2014 to open a fourth academy named Ada Lovelace Church of England High School. The trust, in partnership with the local authority, is the hub for the Ealing Teaching School Alliance (ETSA), an alliance of local schools.

Ealing Central and Acton is a constituency created in 2010 represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2015 by Rupa Huq of the Labour Party.

Ealing Acton was a parliamentary constituency in West London, which returned one Member of Parliament (MP) to the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1983 until it was abolished for the 1997 general election.

South Acton railway station is in the London Borough of Ealing in South Acton. It is on the North London line, and the station and all trains serving it are operated by London Overground. It is in Travelcard Zone 3. Until 1959 it was also served by the District line of the London Underground.

Hooper & Co. was a British coachbuilding business for many years based in Westminster London. From 1805 to 1959 it was a notably successful maker, to special order, of luxury carriages, both horse-drawn and motor-powered.

Acton Central railway station is on the North London Line, between South Acton and Willesden Junction, in Travelcard Zone 3. It is also where trains change power supply from overhead line equipment (25 kV AC) to third rail (750 V DC), or vice versa, depending on direction of travel (overhead line is used to Stratford, third rail to Richmond).
