Amorim, Póvoa de Varzim

União das Freguesias de Aver-o-Mar, Amorim e Terroso is the north side region of the Portuguese city of Póvoa de Varzim and one of the seven civil parishes of Póvoa de Varzim. The administrative parish evolved from the amalgamation of the former parishes Aver-o-Mar, Amorim and Terroso. The population in 2011 was 13,987, in an area of 16.64 km². According to Póvoa de Varzim's municipal spatial planning, the parish is divided into two areas, one urban (Aver-o-Mar and a portion of Amorim) and two suburban areas (Amorim and Terroso), these are divided by the A28 motorway. Landmarks include Póvoa de Varzim City Park, the ruins of the Cividade de Terroso, the beaches of Aver-o-Mar, and the hillside village of Terroso.

Parque da Cidade is a district of the Portuguese city of Porto. It literally means City Park, as it is where the city's park is located and occupies most of the land area. This part of the city is set in four distinct parishes: Porto and Matosinhos.

Passô is a hamlet in the combined civil parish of Aver-o-Mar, Amorim e Terroso, municipality of Póvoa de Varzim in northern Portugal. Passô had a population of 425 in 2011. Prior to the creation in 2013 of the merged parish, Passô was included within the civil parish of Terroso.

Giesteira or Bairro de Belém is a neighbourhood of the Portuguese city of Póvoa de Varzim. It is one of the six traditional neighbourhoods of the city, and one of the eleven city districts. Giesteira is located northeast of the Póvoa de Varzim City Center and subdivided by the parishes of Póvoa de Varzim Parish and Beiriz, most of its land area belongs to Beiriz civil parish. Giesteira was originally the ancient village of Giesteira in which some of its population moved to populate the new urban center of the Town of Varzim in the 14th century. One of the features of Giesteira are its granite walls that divided the farm fields. In Giesteira it is located the new cemetery of Póvoa de Varzim, while the old one, in Moninhas, is also part of its traditional territory. Archaeological data suggest the existence of a necropolis dating to the Roman period, including a funerary stele in tribute to the god Mars and a pedestal dedicated to Cornelius.

Lagoa da Pedreira (English: Quarry Lake), also known simply as Pedreira or Lagoa da Póvoa de Varzim is a small lake in the city of Póvoa de Varzim, Portugal.

A Ver-o-Mar, Aver-o-Mar or Averomar is an urban area in Póvoa de Varzim, Portugal. It is a former civil parish currently located in União das Freguesias de Aver-o-Mar, Amorim e Terroso, of which it is its seat. In the census of 2001, it had a population of 8,675 inhabitants and a total area of 5.21 km2. A 2012 law merged the parish with neighbouring Amorim and Terroso, becoming the northern parish of the city of Póvoa de Varzim.

Terroso is a suburban area in Póvoa de Varzim, Portugal. It forms part of the civil parish of Aver-o-Mar, Amorim e Terroso. It is an ancient ecclesiastical parish and former civil parish. In the census of 2001, it had a population of 2,472 inhabitants and a total area of 4.63 km2. A 2012 law merged the civil parish with neighbouring Amorim and Aver-o-Mar, to become the northern parish of the city of Póvoa de Varzim. Terroso derives from the Latin terrosu, meaning "full of soil". The name was used for Cividade or Cividade Hill.

Bairro da Matriz (In Portuguese it means Mother/First Church Quarter) is the historical neighbourhood of the Portuguese city of Póvoa de Varzim and part of the Matriz/Mariadeira district. Bairro da Matriz was a significant settlement in the 14th century, whose nucleus was the centre, whence the modern city grew, being a neighbourhood composed by old single family homes.

Beiriz is a suburban area in Póvoa de Varzim, Portugal. It is an ancient ecclesiastical parish and former civil parish. In the census of 2001, it had a population of 3,229 inhabitants and a total area of 4.31 km2. A 2012 law merged the parish with neighbouring Póvoa de Varzim (parish) and Argivai, becoming the southern parish of the city of Póvoa de Varzim, known as União das Freguesias da Póvoa de Varzim, Beiriz e Argivai. Beiriz is known for its Tapetes de Beiriz (Beiriz carpets).

The Secondary School Eça de Queirós (Portuguese: Escola Secundária Eça de Queirós) is a secondary school located in the civil parish of Póvoa de Varzim, Beiriz e Argivai, in the Portuguese Norte region, founded on 14 June 1904.

The Church of Our Lady of Sorrows (Portuguese: Igreja de Nossa Senhora das Dores, also referred to as Capela, chapel) is a Roman Catholic church in Póvoa de Varzim, Portugal. It is located in Largo das Dores square, in the old town of Póvoa de Varzim, and is part of the parish of Matriz. The church is dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows, Nossa Senhora das Dores in Portuguese. The church was rebuilt in the 18th century. It has sculptures of six of the Seven Sorrows of Mary in six surrounding chapels, and of the seventh sorrow in the altar. It was listed by IGESPAR, the Portuguese national monuments bureau, as a building of public importance in 1974.

Calves is a hamlet in Póvoa de Varzim, Portugal. It is divided between the parishes of Argivai and Beiriz and in the 2001 census it had 138 inhabitants.
