Aver-o-Mar, Amorim e Terroso

Amorim is a suburban area in Póvoa de Varzim, Portugal. It is an ancient ecclesiastical parish and former civil parish. It is bordered by Aver-o-Mar to the west and by Terroso to the east. In the census of 2001, it had a population of 2,856 inhabitants and a total area of 5.65 km2. In 2013, it was amalgamated in the civil parish known as União das Freguesias de Aver-o-Mar, Amorim e Terroso. Amorim is derived from Latin, and means dating/love or couples place. The Portuguese surnames Amorim and Morim can be traced to this parish. It is popular in the city for its bread, characteristically eaten at high temperatures just after being made – the Broa de Amorim.

Passô is a hamlet in the combined civil parish of Aver-o-Mar, Amorim e Terroso, municipality of Póvoa de Varzim in northern Portugal. Passô had a population of 425 in 2011. Prior to the creation in 2013 of the merged parish, Passô was included within the civil parish of Terroso.

In the census of 2001, it had a population of 8,675 inhabitants and a total area of 5.21 km2. A 2012 law merged the parish with neighbouring Amorim and Terroso, becoming the northern parish of the city of Póvoa de Varzim.

Terroso is a suburban area in Póvoa de Varzim, Portugal. It forms part of the civil parish of Aver-o-Mar, Amorim e Terroso. It is an ancient ecclesiastical parish and former civil parish. In the census of 2001, it had a population of 2,472 inhabitants and a total area of 4.63 km2. A 2012 law merged the civil parish with neighbouring Amorim and Aver-o-Mar, to become the northern parish of the city of Póvoa de Varzim. Terroso derives from the Latin terrosu, meaning "full of soil". The name was used for Cividade or Cividade Hill.

Giesteira or Bairro de Belém is a neighbourhood of the Portuguese city of Póvoa de Varzim. It is one of the six traditional neighbourhoods of the city, and one of the eleven city districts. Giesteira is located northeast of the Póvoa de Varzim City Center and subdivided by the parishes of Póvoa de Varzim Parish and Beiriz, most of its land area belongs to Beiriz civil parish. Giesteira was originally the ancient village of Giesteira in which some of its population moved to populate the new urban center of the Town of Varzim in the 14th century. One of the features of Giesteira are its granite walls that divided the farm fields. In Giesteira it is located the new cemetery of Póvoa de Varzim, while the old one, in Moninhas, is also part of its traditional territory. Archaeological data suggest the existence of a necropolis dating to the Roman period, including a funerary stele in tribute to the god Mars and a pedestal dedicated to Cornelius.

Navais is a parish and former civil parish in Póvoa de Varzim, Portugal. In the census of 2001, it had a population of 1,683 inhabitants and a total area of 4.23 km². A 2013 law amalgamated it into the new União das Freguesias de Aguçadoura e Navais.

Bairro da Matriz (In Portuguese it means Mother/First Church Quarter) is the historical neighbourhood of the Portuguese city of Póvoa de Varzim and part of the Matriz/Mariadeira district. Bairro da Matriz was a significant settlement in the 14th century, whose nucleus was the centre, whence the modern city grew, being a neighbourhood composed by old single family homes.

The Secondary School Eça de Queirós (Portuguese: Escola Secundária Eça de Queirós) is a secondary school located in the civil parish of Póvoa de Varzim, Beiriz e Argivai, in the Portuguese Norte region, founded on 14 June 1904.

Avenida Vasco da Gama is a street in the north central area of Póvoa de Varzim, Portugal. It is one of the main avenues in the city, with hotels, banks, sports areas, bars and is the location in the city with most high-rises. It runs from Avenida do Mar, expansion of the avenue to A28 Motorway (freeway), and Rua Gomes de Amorim (EN 13 National Highway) to Avenida dos Banhos in the waterfront. It has some of Póvoa de Varzim's most famous landmarks such as Touro and Póvoa de Varzim Bullring.

União das Freguesias de Aguçadoura e Navais is one of the seven civil parishes of Póvoa de Varzim, Portugal. The administrative parish was created in 2013 from the former parishes Aguçadoura and Navais and it is the reunification of the two parishes which split in 1933. The population in 2011 was 5,745, in an area of 7.40 km2. Aguçadoura and Navais are farming parishes north of the city of Póvoa de Varzim and both experienced sharp population decline in the 2011 census.
