West Beckham

Bodham is a civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. The village is 27.2 miles north north west of Norwich, 6.4 miles west of Cromer and 131 miles north north east of London. The village lies 3.1 miles south west of the nearest town of Sheringham.The nearest railway station is at Sheringham for the Bittern Line which runs between Cromer and Norwich. The nearest airport is Norwich International Airport. The village is situated on the A148 coast road which links the town of King’s Lynn to Cromer. The civil parish had in 2001 census, a population of 435, increasing to 484 at the 2011 Census. For the purposes of local government, the parish falls within the district of North Norfolk.

Royal Air Force Station West Beckham, commonly known as RAF West Beckham, is a former Chain Home radar station controlled by the Royal Air Force (RAF) located 3.8 miles (6.1 kilometres) south-east of Holt, Norfolk, and 5.3 miles (8.5 kilometres) south-west of Cromer, Norfolk, England. RAF West Beckham opened in 1939 (1939), and closed in 1958 (1958). The station included a transmitter site, receiver site, generator site, underground reserves, as well as two separate accommodation camps. It was known as Chain Home Station 32, and provided radar coverage for a large area around the North Norfolk coast.

Sheringham Park is a landscape park and gardens near the town of Sheringham, Norfolk, England. The park surrounds Sheringham Hall, lying mostly to its south. The hall is privately occupied, but Sheringham Park is in the care of the National Trust and open to visitors. The park was designed by Humphry Repton (1752-1818) who presented his proposals in July 1812 in the form of one of his Red Books. He described Sheringham as his "favourite and darling child in Norfolk". Abbot and Charlotte Upcher bought the estate in 1811, and successive generations of the Upcher family did much to develop the estate, the hall and the park, as well as building a school. There are fine mature woodlands and a large variety of rhododendrons and azaleas. In the early 20th century, Henry Morris Upcher obtained rhododendron seeds of various types from plantsman Ernest "Chinese" Wilson. Plants from this source which can found at the garden include Rhododendron ambiguum, calophytum and decorum, among others. Many other species of tree and shrub are represented in the garden, including fifteen kinds of magnolia, large specimen pieris. Among the other trees are maples, acers, styrax, eucryphia, pocket handkerchief tree davidia involucrata and a fine example of the snowdrop tree. Several overlook towers provide good views over the gardens, and of the nearby coast and surrounding countryside. A garden temple was constructed in the Park in 1975.

Baconsthorpe Castle, historically known as Baconsthorpe Hall, is a ruined, fortified manor house near the village of Baconsthorpe, Norfolk, England. It was established in the 15th century on the site of a former manor hall, probably by John Heydon I and his father, William. John was an ambitious lawyer with many enemies and built a tall, fortified house, but his descendants became wealthy sheep farmers, and being less worried about attack, developed the property into a more elegant, courtyard house, complete with a nearby deer park.

The North Norfolk Railway is owned and operated as a public limited company, originally called Central Norfolk Enterprises Limited. The railway is listed as exempt from the UK Railways (Interoperability) Regulations 2000.

The village is 1.2 miles (1.9 km) from the town of Sheringham. The nearest railway station is at Sheringham for the Bittern Line which runs between Sheringham, Cromer and Norwich. The nearest airport is Norwich International Airport. Nearby road connections are the A149 King's Lynn to Great Yarmouth road to the north of the village and the A148 King's Lynn to Cromer road just to the south. The parish of Upper Sheringham in the 2001 census, a population of 214, reducing slightly to 209 at the 2011 Census. For the purposes of local government, the parish falls within the district of North Norfolk.

North Barningham is a hamlet within the civil parish of Gresham in the English county of Norfolk. The hamlet is 7 miles (11 km) south-west of Cromer, 23.2 miles (37.3 km) north-northwest of Norwich and 138 miles (222 km) north-northeast of London. The hamlet lies 4.6 miles (7.4 km) south of the town of Sheringham. The nearest railway station is at Sheringham for the Bittern Line which runs between Sheringham, Cromer and Norwich. The nearest airport is Norwich International Airport. The hamlet is within the parish of Gresham, which had, in the 2001 census, a population of 443. For the purposes of local government, the hamlet falls within the district of North Norfolk.

Weybourne railway station is a station in Weybourne, Norfolk, on the preserved North Norfolk Railway. Sometimes referred to as “Webbun”, it was formerly part of the Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway route between Melton Constable and Cromer. Regarded as an iconic Edwardian masterpiece. The station is open whenever trains are in operation, and holds various themed events throughout the year. The station itself is located over a mile from the centre of Weybourne and is closer to Weybourne Heath. It was not originally intended to be the site of a station and opened in 1901, later than most of the line, at the behest of a local hotel owner.

Weybourne Town Pit is a 0.7-hectare (1.7-acre) geological Site of Special Scientific Interest west of Sheringham in Norfolk. It is a Geological Conservation Review site and it is in the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.This is the Type locality for the Pleistocene 'Marly Drift'. This is a chalk-rich glacial till thought to have been deposited during the Anglian stage around 450,000 years ago, but its relationship to other deposits in the area is disputed.There is access to the site from Sheringham Road.

Weybourne Cliffs is a 40.9-hectare (101-acre) biological and geological Site of Special Scientific Interest at Weybourne, west of Sheringham in the English county of Norfolk. It is a Geological Conservation Review site. It is in the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.This Pleistocene site is the type locality for the Pastonian Weybourne Crag Formation, and its fossils of marine molluscs have been studied for 200 years. Its ecological interest lies in colonies of sand martins in the cliffs.The beach is open to the public.
