Sugworth

Chandlings, or Chandlings Prep School, known until 2007 as Chandlings Manor School, is an independent co-educational preparatory school at Bagley Wood near Kennington, a village south of Oxford. The school occupies a site of 62 acres (25 hectares) with a wide variety of sports and educational facilities and is a member of the Independent Association of Prep Schools.

Bayworth is a hamlet in the civil parish of Sunningwell about 3 miles (5 km) south of Oxford. Bayworth was part of Berkshire until the 1974 boundary changes transferred it to Oxfordshire.

Radley College, formally St Peter's College, Radley or even the College of St. Peter at Radley, is a public school (independent boarding school for boys) near Radley, Oxfordshire, England, which was founded in 1847. The school covers 800 acres (320 hectares) including playing fields, a golf course, a lake, and farmland. Before the counties of England were re-organised, the school was in Berkshire. Radley is one of only three public schools to have retained the boys-only, boarding-only tradition, the others being Harrow and Eton. Formerly this group included Winchester, although the latter school is currently undergoing a transition to co-ed status. Of the seven public schools addressed by the Public Schools Act 1868 four have since become co-educational: Rugby (1976), Charterhouse (1971), Westminster (1973), and Shrewsbury (2014). For the academic year 2022/23, Radley charged boarders up to £14,850 per term, or £44,550 per annum. It is a member of the Rugby Group.

Bagley Wood is a wood in the parish of Kennington between Oxford and Abingdon in Oxfordshire, England (in Berkshire until 1974). It is traversed from north to south by the A34 road, which was rerouted through the wood in 1972.

Kennington is a village and civil parish in the Vale of White Horse district of Oxfordshire, just south of Oxford. The village occupies a narrow stretch of land between the River Thames and the A34 dual carriageway. It was in Berkshire until the 1974 boundary changes transferred it to Oxfordshire. Kennington was partly in South Hinksey parish and partly in Radley parish until 1936, when a new Kennington civil parish was constituted. Apart from the village, most of Kennington civil parish is wooded, including all of Bagley Wood and West Wood to the west of the village.

The Midvale Ridge is a natural region in South Central England formed by a band of low-lying limestone hills that run from southeast to northwest from the Vale of Aylesbury to Swindon. It has been designated as National Character Area 109 by Natural England, the UK Government's advisors on the natural environment. The Midvale Ridge crosses the counties of Wiltshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. It is surrounded by the lowlands of the Oxfordshire clay vales and offers good views over the local countryside. The area is dominated by agriculture with a mixed arable/ pastoral farming landscape. Cereals are the most important arable crop.The main settlements are the town of Swindon in the west, and the city of Oxford, in the centre. Otherwise the area is relatively sparsely populated with small nucleated villages along the crest of the ridge and along the springline. Soils comprise a mix of heavy rendzinas, stagnogleys and lighter sandy brown earths with small patches of sandy soils.The area has a number of important geological sites and has yielded fossils of international importance, including the holotypes for several ammonite species and several species of prehistoric sponges known only from the Faringdon area.

Sunningwell is a village and civil parish about 3+1⁄2 miles (6 km) south of Oxford, England. The parish includes the village of Bayworth and the eastern part of Boars Hill. The parish was part of Berkshire until the 1974 boundary changes transferred it to Oxfordshire. The 2011 Census recorded the parish population as 904.

Hinksey Hill is a hill and residential area 2 miles (3.2 km) south of the centre of Oxford. It is in South Hinksey civil parish, about 0.5 miles (800 m) south of the village. Hinksey Hill was part of Berkshire until the 1974 boundary changes transferred it to Oxfordshire. At the foot of the hill is Hinksey Hill Interchange where the Abingdon By-Pass joins the Southern By-Pass Road. The road up the hill was the route of the A34 until the 1970s, when the Abingdon Bypass was completed. It is now an unclassified road. At the summit of Hinksey Hill is the Old Berkeley Golf Course which was the former private golf course of Lord Berkeley of Berkeley Castle on Boars Hill. The land is now preserved as a nature reserve and it a great spot for dog walking and observing the great views of the city of Oxford painted many times by William Turner. Much of the land on Hinksey Hill was owned by the Earls of Abingdon until it was sold by the 7th Earl in Acre sized plots throughout the 1910s Home to the Priors a local philanthropic family.

The Abingdon Learning Trust (ALT) is a multi-academy trust, exempt charity and company limited by guarantee, based in Abingdon-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, England. Three schools in Abingdon are part of the trust, two secondary schools: John Mason School and Fitzharrys School, and one primary school, Rush Common School.

Radley is a village and civil parish about 2 miles (3 km) northeast of the centre of Abingdon, Oxfordshire. The parish includes the hamlet of Lower Radley on the River Thames. It was part of Berkshire until the 1974 boundary changes transferred it to Oxfordshire. The village is home to Radley College, a famous boarding independent school for boys from the age of thirteen to eighteen that consists of 690 pupils.

Iffley Halt railway station was built by the Great Western Railway to serve Iffley, a suburb of Oxford; it was actually in Kennington, and not in Iffley. The station was situated at the western end of Kennington Railway Bridge, which crosses the River Thames. Access from Iffley was via the River Thames towpath, which has a footbridge over Hinksey Stream close to this point. It was opened on 1 February 1908 along with four other halts on the former Wycombe Railway route between Oxford and Wheatley.Services were provided by steam railmotors based at Oxford, which was also the western terminus; the eastern terminus of these services was Wheatley, Thame or Princes Risborough. When the railmotor services were withdrawn on 22 March 1915, the halt closed. The line remained open for through passenger services, but these did not call at Iffley Halt.

Abingdon United Football Club is a football club based in Abingdon-on-Thames, England. The club are currently members of the Hellenic League Division One and play at The Northcourt.
