Hinksey Hill

Bagley Wood is a wood in the parish of Kennington between Oxford and Abingdon in Oxfordshire, England (in Berkshire until 1974). It is traversed from north to south by the A34 road, which was rerouted through the wood in 1972.

Hinksey is a place name associated with Oxford and Oxfordshire. In 1974, many of the places associated with the name were transferred from the county of Berkshire in the county boundary changes.

South Hinksey is a village and civil parish just over 1 mile (1.6 km) south of the centre of Oxford. The parish includes the residential area of Hinksey Hill about 0.5 miles (800 m) south of the village. The parish was part of Berkshire until the 1974 boundary changes transferred it to Oxfordshire.

Abingdon Road Halt railway station was built by the Great Western Railway to serve South Hinksey, a village near Oxford.

Templeton College was one of the constituent colleges of the University of Oxford, England. It was an all-graduate college, concentrating on the recruitment of students in business and management studies. In 2008, the college merged with Green College, Oxford to form Green Templeton College, based on the existing Green College site.

Redbridge is located in south Oxford, England, at the southern end of Abingdon Road near the Oxford Ring Road. Redbridge takes its name from a brick bridge, locally known as the Red Bridge, which carries Old Abingdon Road over the Cherwell Valley railway line. Redbridge Recycling Centre, located on Old Abingdon Road, is operated by Oxfordshire County Council.Redbridge Park and Ride Car Park is operated by Oxford City Council. A park and ride bus service operates to the centre of Oxford. In 2016, a recycling transfer station at the car park was announced. The park&ride has a 50 MW / 50 MWh lithium-ion battery and a 5 MWh flow battery combined in a grid battery, along with 22 fast electric vehicle chargers, connecting to the 400 kV Cowley substation. The battery supplies grid services.

Kennington is a village and civil parish in the Vale of White Horse district of Oxfordshire, just south of Oxford. The village occupies a narrow stretch of land between the River Thames and the A34 dual carriageway. It was in Berkshire until the 1974 boundary changes transferred it to Oxfordshire. Kennington was partly in South Hinksey parish and partly in Radley parish until 1936, when a new Kennington civil parish was constituted. Apart from the village, most of Kennington civil parish is wooded, including all of Bagley Wood and West Wood to the west of the village.

Chandlings, or Chandlings Prep School, known until 2007 as Chandlings Manor School, is an independent co-educational preparatory school at Bagley Wood near Kennington, a village south of Oxford. The school occupies a site of 62 acres (25 hectares) with a wide variety of sports and educational facilities and is a member of the Independent Association of Prep Schools.

Abingdon Road is the main arterial road to the south of the city of Oxford, England. The road passes through the suburbs of Grandpont and New Hinksey. It is named after the town of Abingdon to the south.
