Somerton Power Station

Somerton is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 21 km (13 mi) north of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Hume local government area. Somerton recorded a population of 6 at the 2021 census.Somerton is predominantly an industrial and business suburb, and has a number of industrial parks, including the Austrak Business Park, Somerton Logistics Centre and the Northgate Distribution Centre. It is bounded by Patullos Lane in the north, the Merri Creek in the east, Somerton Road/Cooper Street in the south and the Craigieburn/North East railway lines in the west.

The Fire Rescue Victoria Training Academy (formerly the Victorian Emergency Management Training Centre (VEMTC)) is a training facility for volunteer and career emergency services personnel. It used by Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV), the Country Fire Authority (CFA), Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria, Victoria State Emergency Service and the Department of Environment, and Primary Industries. The center is located in Melbourne, Australia's north in Craigieburn.

Roxburgh Park railway station is located on the Craigieburn line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the northern Melbourne suburb of Roxburgh Park, and opened on 21 September 2007.It was built just north of the site of the former Somerton station, which was closed to passengers in 1960. However, the adjacent goods yard and standard gauge crossing loop retain the Somerton name. Roxburgh Park station was provided as part of the extension of electrified services from Broadmeadows to Craigieburn. The Craigieburn-bound (down) line was slewed to the west, to permit an island platform to be built between the two tracks of the broad gauge main line.

Note Printing Australia (NPA) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) that produces banknotes and passports. It was corporatised in July 1998 and is located in Craigieburn, Melbourne. NPA has its origins as a subsidiary of the Commonwealth Bank and was established in 1913 to print banknotes for Australia. After printing paper banknotes for 75 years, NPA introduced the first polymer banknote technology in 1988. NPA print banknotes for several other countries as well as Australia due to the high standards of durability and difficulty of counterfeiting.

Roxburgh College is a state secondary school in Roxburgh Park, Victoria, Australia. Previously Upfield Secondary College, the school completed its transition to the current site at Roxburgh Park during 2005. The school offers years 7–12, with the option of VCE, VET and VCAL education for senior students. In 2017 Roxburgh College opened a Trade Training center, which has spaces for Automotive, Electronics, wood work and metal work fabrication.

The Broadmeadows Assembly Plant was a Ford Australia automobile factory in Campbellfield, Melbourne. It spanned 45 acres (18 ha) and as at 2011, employed 2,088 workers. It opened in 1959.In 1973, there was a large strike by mostly migrant workers over unsafe and unsanitary working conditions, and Ford's refusal to hire more workers, including a ban on female workers. The strikers fought off police and even managed to force their union to endorse them. This strike was notable due to the huge outpour of community support, with the Glaziers Union refusing to fix broken windows, doctors opening free clinics and the local Greek Orthodox Church donating to strike funds. It succeeded in its aims. There was a second strike in 1981 called by local members of the Vehicle Builders Employees Federation, but this time, federal Union members moved to shut it down swiftly. The Broadmeadows Assembly Plant closed on 7 October 2016 after Ford ceased manufacturing in Australia. The site was sold to the Pelligra Group in 2019 who intend to redevelop it as an industrial estate as Assembly Broadmeadows.

979fm (call sign: 3RIM) is a radio station based in the city of Melton, Victoria and is run by 3RIM Incorporated. The station's broadcast area covers the entire span of western and north western Melbourne, and has been known to stretch as far as Phillip Island in the Gippsland region, about 180 kilometres away from Melton. The organisation was incorporated on 13 September 1985, making it one of the oldest community radio stations in Victoria. The station is manned and operated fully by volunteers from all age groups, backgrounds and ethnicities. From 29 June 1991, to 1 July 2012 3RIM/979fm were based at Mowbray College's Patterson Campus. The College closed after going into voluntary administration in June 2012 leading to 979fm relocating. After broadcasting from a temporary location for 13 months the station began broadcasting from their new studios at Victoria University, Melton South on Tuesday 6 August 2013.

Craigieburn railway station is the terminus of the suburban electrified Craigieburn line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the northern Melbourne suburb of the same name, and opened on 22 July 1872.

Upfield railway station is the terminus of the suburban electrified Upfield line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the northern Melbourne suburb of Campbellfield, and it opened on 8 October 1889 as North Campbellfield. It closed on 13 July 1903, reopened on 5 March 1928, closed again on 5 May 1956, and was reopened again on 17 August 1959 as Upfield.

Upfield is a small residential and industrial locality 17 km away from the central business district in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia situated in the suburb of Campbellfield. It is in the local government area of the City of Hume. The name is descriptive of the area's open country. In 1956 the Ford motor car factory was begun on land between the Hume Highway and the railway line from Coburg to Somerton (now Roxburgh Park). The State Government constructed a railway station (Upfield), and the line was electrified in 1959. South of the Ford factory housing was built and a high school opened in 1968. The Campbellfield Primary School was nearby, but another primary school (Upfield) was opened in 1970 and superseded the Campbellfield site in 1992. A small shopping centre and post office are near the station. Immediately west of Upfield is the larger residential area of Dallas as well as Coolaroo.

Meadow Heights is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 18 km (11 mi) north of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Hume local government area. Meadow Heights recorded a population of 14,890 at the 2021 census.Meadow Heights is bounded by Somerton Road in the north, Pascoe Vale Road in the east, Barry Road in the south and the Broadmeadows Valley Park in the west.
