H.A. Higgins Building

The Welsbach Building is a historic building in Downtown Columbus, Ohio. It was built in 1906 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. The building served as the middle western department of the Welsbach Company, a manufacturer of gas lights, from 1907 to 1929.The building was extensively renovated around 1997 to become a Red Roof Inn.

The Central Ohio Fire Museum is a firefighting museum in downtown Columbus, Ohio. The museum is housed in the former Engine House No. 16 of the Columbus Fire Department, built in 1908. It was listed on the Columbus Register of Historic Properties in 1983 and the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.The building was completed in 1908, built as the last in the city to accommodate horse-drawn engines (the transition to motorized equipment began one year later). It was remodeled several times for larger equipment, and was closed in 1982 when the new Engine House No. 1 was built two blocks away. The city began leasing the station to the Central Ohio Fire Museum, which facilitated a restoration of the building's exterior in 1990. The facade's third story and decorative parapet were rebuilt, along with the top of its hose tower. New doors were added based on the original design as well.

The Columbus Transfer Company Warehouse, also known as the Carr Building, is a historic building in Downtown Columbus, Ohio. It was built in two phases, in 1882 and 1900, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Ohio Library and Information Network (OhioLINK) is a consortium of Ohio's college and university libraries and the State Library of Ohio. Serving more than 800,000 students, faculty, and staff at 88 institutions with 117 libraries, OhioLINK's membership includes 16 public universities, 23 community/technical colleges, 48 private colleges and the State Library of Ohio. Downtown Columbus is the central business district of Columbus, Ohio. Downtown is centered on the intersection of Broad and High Streets, and encompasses all of the area inside the Inner Belt. Downtown is home to most of the tallest buildings in Columbus. The state capitol, the Ohio Statehouse, is located in the center of downtown on Capitol Square. Downtown is also home to Columbus State Community College, Franklin University, Columbus College of Art and Design, Grant Medical Center, Capital University Law School, as well as the Main Library of the Columbus Metropolitan Library, the pioneering Main Street Bridge, and many parks. Downtown has many neighborhoods or districts, but it can be separated into three main areas: the Discovery District, the High Street Corridor, and the Riverfront. Downtown also includes the Arena District, Capitol Square, and the Columbus Civic Center. The Short North, Italian Village, and Victorian Village are directly north of downtown. Olde Towne East and King-Lincoln Bronzeville are directly east, while the Brewery District and German Village are directly south of Downtown. Franklinton is to the west of downtown. Almost 90,000 people are employed downtown, and more than 33,000 students attend school at one of the many institutions of higher education located there. As of 2022, Downtown is home to about 11,200 residents.

Mount Vernon is a predominantly African-American historic neighborhood in Columbus, Ohio, United States. The neighborhood lies within the historic Near East Side community. Mount Vernon borders Interstates 71 and 670. Its main thoroughfares, Mount Vernon Avenue, Long Street, Atcheson Street, and Champion Avenue define the community's limits.

Franklin County is a county in the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2020 census, the population was 1,323,807, making it the most populous county in Ohio. Most of its land area is taken up by its county seat, Columbus, the state capital and most populous city in Ohio. The county was established on April 30, 1803, less than two months after Ohio became a state, and was named after Benjamin Franklin. Franklin County originally extended north to Lake Erie before being subdivided into smaller counties. Franklin County is the central county of the Columbus, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. Franklin County, particularly Columbus, has been a centerpiece for presidential and congressional politics, most notably the 2000 presidential election, the 2004 presidential election, and the 2006 midterm elections. Franklin County is home to one of the largest universities in the United States, Ohio State University, which has about 60,000 students on its main Columbus campus.It shares a name with Franklin County in Kentucky, where Frankfort is located. This makes it one of two pairs of capital cities in counties of the same name, along with Marion Counties in Indiana and Oregon.

The G. W. Bobb Company Building is a historic building in Downtown Columbus, Ohio. In 2023, the owner of the building announced it would be demolished, including additions to the structure that span an entire downtown city block. The City of Columbus issued an emergency hazard order requiring either demolition or immediate repairs in April 2023, after determining the building had "advanced deterioration".The original four-story structure dates to 1914, and was built as an ice house, holding blocks of ice for refrigeration. It later was known as the warehouse of the Neilston Warehouse Company and later as part of the Creasy Corporation. The building, at the south end of the block, includes a six-story addition to its north, as well as a two-story structure at the north edge of the block.George William Bobb, first owner of the building, operated the wholesale grocer George Bobb & Son, later known as George Bobb & Sons and the G. W. Bobb Company. His four-story plant had two elevators, steam heat, and its own private spur track to the railroad, making it considered the most modern building of its kind in the Midwest.

The Hyatt Regency Columbus is a high-rise hotel in Columbus, Ohio. The building rises 20 floors and 256 feet (78 m) in height, and stands as the 24th-tallest building in the city. The structure was completed in 1980. The Hyatt Regency Columbus was designed by architects Prindle, Patrick + Associates, an architectural and engineering firm. The building contains a four-star Hyatt hotel, which consists of 615 rooms and 16 suites, as well as a grand ballroom and 32 conference rooms.

The Long and Third Commercial Building was a historic building in Downtown Columbus, Ohio. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. The four-story building was constructed in the Second Renaissance Revival style.The building, completed c. 1900, was one of few remaining turn-of-the-century commercial buildings in Downtown Columbus. It was also significant for its unusually high level of detail and fine craftsmanship. Over its life, the building housed over 45 different tenants. Some of the most notable were the Columbus-New Albany-Johnstown Traction Company, an early interurban streetcar company, the Eugene Gallagher cigar company, the Voisinet Garment Company, Pappas' Philadelphia Restaurant, and the Sportsman's Grill Restaurant. At the time of its National Register nomination, the building was deteriorating, and its owners sought an extensive rehabilitation benefited by historic preservation tax credits.

Sensenbrenner Park is a .9-acre (0.36 ha) park in downtown Columbus, Ohio, United States. The park was dedicated on September 18, 1980, and commemorates former mayor Jack Sensenbrenner.

The Standard Building, also known as the Blue Cross Building or as the Gugle Building, is a historic building in Downtown Columbus, Ohio. The building was built in 1912. Early tenants included the Lancaster Tire & Rubber Company, the Mutual Life Insurance Company, Irwin Manufacturing Company, and the Grid Graph Company. It also served as the regional headquarters of Standard Oil of Ohio, from 1917 to 1955, occupying its sixth (top) floor. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Columbus Register of Historic Properties in 2019. Also in 2019, the building owner Connect Real Estate began redeveloping the building into apartments, with 45 units, including 35 micro studio apartments and 10 one-bedroom units. Connect Real Estate sought the building's historic listings for tax credits in refurbishing it. The realty company owns the adjacent Winders Motor Sales Company building, which it has separately listed on historic registers to make restoration more affordable.
