Mount Vernon is a predominantly African-American historic neighborhood in Columbus, Ohio, United States. The neighborhood lies within the historic Near East Side community. Mount Vernon borders Interstates 71 and 670. Its main thoroughfares, Mount Vernon Avenue, Long Street, Atcheson Street, and Champion Avenue define the community's limits.

Downtown Columbus is the central business district of Columbus, Ohio. Downtown is centered on the intersection of Broad and High Streets, and encompasses all of the area inside the Inner Belt. Downtown is home to most of the tallest buildings in Columbus. The state capitol, the Ohio Statehouse, is located in the center of downtown on Capitol Square. Downtown is also home to Columbus State Community College, Franklin University, Columbus College of Art and Design, Grant Medical Center, Capital University Law School, as well as the Main Library of the Columbus Metropolitan Library, the pioneering Main Street Bridge, and many parks. Downtown has many neighborhoods or districts, but it can be separated into three main areas: the Discovery District, the High Street Corridor, and the Riverfront. Downtown also includes the Arena District, Capitol Square, and the Columbus Civic Center. The Short North, Italian Village, and Victorian Village are directly north of downtown. Olde Towne East and King-Lincoln Bronzeville are directly east, while the Brewery District and German Village are directly south of Downtown. Franklinton is to the west of downtown. Almost 90,000 people are employed downtown, and more than 33,000 students attend school at one of the many institutions of higher education located there. As of 2022, Downtown is home to about 11,200 residents.

The Ohio Library and Information Network (OhioLINK) is a consortium of Ohio's college and university libraries and the State Library of Ohio. Serving more than 800,000 students, faculty, and staff at 88 institutions with 117 libraries, OhioLINK's membership includes 16 public universities, 23 community/technical colleges, 48 private colleges and the State Library of Ohio. These five high-density remote storage facilities are each administered by a member library and the materials housed there circulate through the OhioLINK print lending program.

The John W. Bricker Federal Building is a federal office building in Downtown Columbus, Ohio. The structure was designed in the Brutalist architecture style and was built in 1977 to house federal offices. It has seven stories, and is part of a 454,000 sq ft (42,200 m2) facility, including an eight-story parking garage.The building is named for John W. Bricker, an Ohio governor and U.S. senator who lived in Columbus.

Correlation: Two White Line Diagonals and Two Arcs with a Sixteen-Foot Radius, also known as Correlations, is a 1977–1978 by Robert Mangold, installed on the exterior of the Bricker Federal Building in Downtown Columbus, Ohio.

The Atlas Building, originally the Columbus Savings & Trust Building, is a high-rise building in Downtown Columbus, Ohio, built in 1905 and designed by Frank Packard. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. The building has seen two major renovations, in 1982 and 2014.

The Columbia Larimer Building is a historic building in Downtown Columbus, Ohio. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. The building is significant for its storefront design and craftsmanship, along with the front interior installed by the Bott Brothers when they moved their bar there in 1905. The building was home to the Clock Restaurant in the mid-to-late 1900s, and currently Elevator Brewery & Draught Haus.

The Columbus Transfer Company Warehouse, also known as the Carr Building, is a historic building in Downtown Columbus, Ohio. It was built in two phases, in 1882 and 1900, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Long and Third Commercial Building was a historic building in Downtown Columbus, Ohio. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. The four-story building was constructed in the Second Renaissance Revival style.The building, completed c. 1900, was one of few remaining turn-of-the-century commercial buildings in Downtown Columbus. It was also significant for its unusually high level of detail and fine craftsmanship. Over its life, the building housed over 45 different tenants. Some of the most notable were the Columbus-New Albany-Johnstown Traction Company, an early interurban streetcar company, the Eugene Gallagher cigar company, the Voisinet Garment Company, Pappas' Philadelphia Restaurant, and the Sportsman's Grill Restaurant. At the time of its National Register nomination, the building was deteriorating, and its owners sought an extensive rehabilitation benefited by historic preservation tax credits.

The Chittenden Hotel was a hotel building in Downtown Columbus, Ohio. The hotel, located at Spring and High streets, was in three succeeding buildings. The first was built in 1889; the second in 1892; and the third in 1895.The Chittenden was created by Columbus businessman Henry Treat Chittenden, known for owning the Columbus Railway Company, in the horsecar and streetcar business. He was also involved in real estate and the arts, and was educated in and practiced law. Chittenden had seen William Neil, a stagecoach entrepreneur, make a second fortune with his Neil House hotel, inspiring Chittenden to follow suit. In 1873, he purchased the five-story Parker Building, an office building with retail space. In the late 1880s, he converted it into the first Chittenden hotel, adding two floors among other extensive renovations. It opened in 1889. The building was gutted in a large fire in 1890. The next building was constructed in 1892 in a more lavish style. Chittenden built theaters around it – the Henrietta on Spring St. and the Park on High St.; he also built a massive auditorium nearby.A block-wide fire demolished the second hotel on November 25, 1893, spreading from the unfinished auditorium to the hotel and Henrietta Theater. The city block had damage of about $300,000; Chittenden had only insured the hotel for $50,000. Undeterred by the fires, Henry Chittenden built his third hotel in 1895, using solid materials including stone, steel, concrete, and brick. The eight story building was held under the Chittenden family's ownership, past his death in 1909, until it was sold in the early 1950s. Just after 1960, the hotel's Moorish towers and eaves were removed to lower maintenance costs. The third hotel was the longest-lasting. It closed on March 15, 1972 and was demolished in February 1973.The high-rise William Green Building stands at the site of the hotel.

Nationwide Fountain is a fountain designed by sculptor Jim Ponter and architect Don Olson in downtown Columbus, Ohio, United States. It is located at Nationwide Plaza, a complex of buildings including One Nationwide Plaza, and within Dean Jeffers Park. The abstract fountain features stacked geometric blocks of stone and bronze sculptures of various animals, including a frog, lizard, and salmon.The fountain was surveyed by the Smithsonian Institution's "Save Outdoor Sculpture!" program in 1994.

The Welsbach Building is a historic building in Downtown Columbus, Ohio. It was built in 1906 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. The building served as the middle western department of the Welsbach Company, a manufacturer of gas lights, from 1907 to 1929.The building was extensively renovated around 1997 to become a Red Roof Inn.
