Frioul archipelago

Ratonneau is one of the islands of the Frioul archipelago in the Mediterranean Sea, off the southern coast of France near Marseille. It is relatively long and thin, approximately 2.5 km long but at most 500 m wide and generally much narrower. It is connected to the nearby island of Pomègues, which runs roughly parallel, by a mole constructed in 1822 to create a port area. The Ancient Roman fleet that besieged Marseille in 49BC was moored by the island. Later, the island was used to quarantine foreign sailors, particularly those with cases of cholera and Leprosy. The neoclassical hôpital Caroline was constructed at the eastern end of the island in 1828 to a design by Michel-Robert Penchaud, but partly destroyed in bombing raids in the Second World War. The centre of the island is occupied by a fort, with a smaller fort at its western tip. The smaller island of If lies to the south east. It is part of the Calanques National Park. The island has several beaches. Today, the island is mostly visited by tourists, by ferries that connect the island to the Old Port of Marseille in the summer season. The island includes some tourist restaurants, some tourist shops, a fire station, and a town hall. Motor vehicles are banned.

The Château d'If (French pronunciation: ​[ʃɑto dif]) is a fortress located on the Île d'If, the smallest island in the Frioul archipelago, situated about 1.5 kilometres (7⁄8 mile) offshore from Marseille in southeastern France. Built in the 16th century, it later served as a prison until the end of the 19th century. The fortress was demilitarized and open to the public in 1890. It is famous for being one of the settings of Alexandre Dumas's adventure novel The Count of Monte Cristo.

The Vallon des Auffes is a little traditional fishing haven in Marseille in the 7th arrondissement of Marseille. It is situated 2.5 km south-west of the Vieux-Port over the corniche Kennedy, between the Catalans beach and Malmousque bay.

The General Levelling of France (niveau général de la France or NGF) forms a network of benchmarks in mainland France and Corsica, now overseen by the Institut Géographique National. It is now the official levelling network in mainland France. It is made up of two networks: NGF - IGN69 for mainland France, with the 'zero level' determined by the tide gauge at Marseille NGF - IGN78 for Corsica, with the 'zero level' determined by the tide gauge at Ajaccio

The Villa Valmer is a historic mansion in the 7th arrondissement of Marseille, France. It is located near several other villas such as the La villa de Gaby Deslys. The building is in the Renaissance style with three floors. There is a garden open to the public.

The Ledge of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy (French: Corniche du président-John-Fitzgerald-Kennedy; locally dubbed La Corniche) is a street in the 7th arrondissement of Marseille, France. It runs along the Mediterranean coast from the beach at Les Catalans in the city centre to Promenade Georges Pompidou and the Plages du Prado in the south, at the limit with the 8th arrondissement. It was named after US President John Fitzgerald Kennedy the year of his assassination, in 1963.

The Cercle des nageurs de Marseille (Circle of Marseille's swimmers) is an elite swim club based in Marseille, France, founded in 1921. It is best known for its water polo team which is the most decorated in France, and also for training many of the French Olympic swimmers, including Frédérick Bousquet, Fabien Gilot, Camille Lacourt, Florent Manaudou, Laure Manaudou and others.

Aix-Marseille University (AMU; French: Aix-Marseille Université; formally incorporated as Université d'Aix-Marseille) is a public research university located in the Provence region of southern France. The institution was founded in 1409 when Louis II of Anjou, Count of Provence, petitioned the Pisan Antipope Alexander V to establish the University of Provence, making it the fourth-oldest university in France. It came into its current form following a reunification of the University of Provence, the University of the Mediterranean and Paul Cézanne University. The reunification became effective on 1 January 2012, resulting in the creation of the largest university in the Francophone world, with about 80,000 students. AMU has the largest budget of any academic institution in the French-speaking world standing at €750 million. It is consistently ranked among the top 200 universities in the world and is ranked within the top 4 universities in France according to CWTS and USNWR, and 5th in the country according to ARWU.The university is organized around five main campuses situated in Aix-en-Provence and Marseille. The Palais du Pharo is a palace in Marseille, France. It was built in 1858 by Emperor Napoleon III for Empress Eugénie.

The Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolis (French: métropole d'Aix-Marseille-Provence) is the métropole, an intercommunal structure, centred on the cities of Marseille and Aix-en-Provence. It is located in the Bouches-du-Rhône, Var and Vaucluse departments, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, southeastern France. It was created in January 2016, replacing the previous Communauté urbaine Marseille Provence Métropole and five communautés d'agglomération. Its area is 3149.2 km2. Its population was 1,889,666 in 2018, of which 868,277 in Marseille proper and 143,097 in Aix-en-Provence.

The 7th arrondissement of Marseille is one of the 16 arrondissements of Marseille, France. It is governed locally together with the 1st arrondissement, with which it forms the 1st sector of Marseille.

Bompard is a quarter (French: Quartier) in the 7th arrondissement of Marseille, France. According to the 2012 INSEE census, it has a population of 4,220.
