Kashimpur Central Jail (Bengali: কাশিমপুর কেন্দ্রীয় কারাগার), also known as Kashimpur Prison or Kashimpur Jail, is a major high-security correctional facility located at Kashimpur union in the Gazipur district of Bangladesh. It is one of the largest and most well-known prisons in the country, as well as one of the biggest prisons in Asia. It was originally constructed in 2001 as an expansion to Dhaka Central Jail. Kashimpur Jail comprises two separate complexes, known as Kashimpur Central Jail-1 and Kashimpur Central Jail-2. These complexes are situated adjacent to each other and are often collectively referred to as Kashimpur Central Jail. The two complexes house both male and female prisoners. The current deputy jailer of the prison is Aminul Islam. Kashimpur Central Jail-1 primarily detains male inmates. Although Kashimpur Central Jail-2 is primarily designated for female prisoners, it houses male inmates as well. It has condemn cells, where convicts who are awaiting execution are kept. Both complexes have separate sections for different categories of prisoners, including those awaiting trial, convicted prisoners, and prisoners with special circumstances. It also holds foreign prisoners. The jail facilitates and executes death sentences by hanging.

The Bangladesh Open University (BOU) Bengali: বাংলাদেশ উন্মুক্ত বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় (বাউবি), established on 21 October 1992, is a public university with its main campus in Board Bazar, Gazipur District, Dhaka Division. It is the 8th largest university in the world according to enrollment. As the only public university in Bangladesh to use distance education as a method of delivery, BOU is mandated to "promote through multimedia; instruction of every standard and knowledge – both general and scientific – by means of any form of communications technology, to raise the standard of education and to give the people educational opportunities by democratizing education and creating a class of competent people by raising the standard of education of the people generally."

Islamic University of Technology (Bengali: ইসলামিক ইউনিভার্সিটি অব টেকনোলজি), commonly known as IUT, is an international engineering technological research university located in Gazipur, Bangladesh. IUT offers undergraduate and graduate programs in engineering and technical education. IUT is a subsidiary organ of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The university receives endowment from OIC member states and offers scholarships to the allocated number of students in the form of tuition waiver and free accommodation. The campus was designed by Turkish architect Mehmet Doruk Pamir, an MIT graduate.

National University (NU; Bengali: জাতীয় বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়) is a public collegiate university of Bangladesh that was established in 1992 by an Act of Parliament as an affiliating university of the country to impart graduate and post-graduate level education to students through its affiliated colleges, schools and professional institutions throughout the country. The number of colleges under the NU is 2,257. Among these, 555 are government colleges. A total of 881 colleges offer honors courses. It is the second-largest university in the world in terms of enrollment. The headquarters is in Gazipur, on the outskirts of Dhaka. After its establishment, the university began affiliating with association degree-awarding colleges, many of which were previously affiliated with the University of Dhaka, University of Rajshahi, University of Chittagong and Shahjalal University of Science and Technology.

Atomic Energy Research Establishment School & College, former name AERE High School (Bengali: পরমাণু শক্তি গবেষণা প্রতিষ্ঠান স্কুল এন্ড কলেজ), is a school in Savar Upazila, Dhaka, Bangladesh.

National Institute of Biotechnology (NIB)(Bengali: ন্যাশনাল ইনস্টিটিউট অব বায়োটেকনোলজি) is a governmental institute in Bangladesh under the Ministry of Science and Technology.

The 2012 Dhaka garment factory fire broke out on 24 November 2012, in the Tazreen Fashion factory in the Ashulia district on the outskirts of Dhaka, Bangladesh. At least 117 people were confirmed dead in the fire, and over 200 were injured, making it the deadliest factory fire in the nation's history. The cause of the fire was not determined. It was initially presumed to be caused by an electrical short circuit, the cause of 80% of factory fires in Bangladesh. A widely criticized government report alleged an act of "sabotage", without identifying who committed it or why. This fire and others similar to it have led to numerous proposed reforms in workers' rights and safety laws in Bangladesh.

Tairunnessa Memorial Medical College (TMMC) (Bengali: তায়রুন্নেছা মেমোরিয়াল মেডিকেল কলেজ) is a private medical school in Bangladesh, established in 2002. It is an institution of the Tairunnessa Memorial Medical Centre.

There are four cricket grounds at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan national sports institute in Savar, Dhaka. As well as serving the needs of the BKSP's students, the grounds have also staged first-class and List A cricket matches in Bangladeshi domestic competitions since 2000, and several minor international matches.

Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) (Bengali: বাংলাদেশ ক্রীড়া শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান, Bangladesh Institute of Sports Education) is the national sports institute of Bangladesh. It is residential and is located at Savar, about 28 kilometres (17 mi) north-west of the capital, Dhaka, and about 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) north of the National Martyrs' Memorial. It is a government-funded autonomous institution.

The Zebun Nessa Mosque (Bengali: জেবুন নেসা মসজিদ) is an urban mosque which is located in Ashulia on the outskirts of Dhaka, Bangladesh. The mosque is an architectural project designed by Studio Morphogenesis under the direction of Saiqa Iqbal Meghna. Completed in 2023, the mosque which covers an area of 6060 square feet was commissioned by a local textile factory owner to honor his late mother.
