National Institute of Biotechnology (NIB)(Bengali: ন্যাশনাল ইনস্টিটিউট অব বায়োটেকনোলজি) is a governmental institute in Bangladesh under the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Dhamsana (Bengali: ধামসোনা), also transliterated as Dhamsona, is a union parishad under Savar Upazila, Dhaka District, Dhaka Division, Bangladesh. The union covers an area of 32.77 square kilometres. Its parishad office is located in Bolibhadra Bazar area. In the year 2011, Dhamsana is the most populous union in Bangladesh, with a total population of 308,024.

There are four cricket grounds at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan national sports institute in Savar, Dhaka. As well as serving the needs of the BKSP's students, the grounds have also staged first-class and List A cricket matches in Bangladeshi domestic competitions since 2000, and several minor international matches.

Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) (Bengali: বাংলাদেশ ক্রীড়া শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান, Bangladesh Institute of Sports Education) is the national sports institute of Bangladesh. It is residential and is located at Savar, about 28 kilometres (17 mi) north-west of the capital, Dhaka, and about 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) north of the National Martyrs' Memorial. It is a government-funded autonomous institution.

The 2012 Dhaka garment factory fire broke out on 24 November 2012, in the Tazreen Fashion factory in the Ashulia district on the outskirts of Dhaka, Bangladesh. At least 117 people were confirmed dead in the fire, and over 200 were injured, making it the deadliest factory fire in the nation's history. The cause of the fire was not determined. It was initially presumed to be caused by an electrical short circuit, the cause of 80% of factory fires in Bangladesh. A widely criticized government report alleged an act of "sabotage", without identifying who committed it or why. This fire and others similar to it have led to numerous proposed reforms in workers' rights and safety laws in Bangladesh.

Savar DOHS (Defence Officers Housing Society) is a residential neighborhood for defence service officers located near Savar Cantonment in Ashulia Thana, Savar Upazila. The DOHS is under the management of Savar Cantonment Board which is headed by Brigadier General Tofail Mostafa Sarwar. The total area of Savar DOHS is 72.47 acres with 445 plots. Brigadier General S M Farhad is the president of Savar DOHS.On 3 June 2012, Savar DOHS was founded on land previously used by Bangladesh Army for driving instructions.

Gono Bishwabidyalay (Bengali: গণ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় lit. 'People's University', abbreviated as GB) is a private university in Savar, Bangladesh which was established on 14 July 1994 as the People's University. It is now operating their academic and administrating activity on their permanent campus at Nolam, Savar, Dhaka. It was approved by University Grants Commission (UGC) on 1998. Md. Abul Hossain is the vice-chancellor of the university.

Kashimpur Central Jail (Bengali: কাশিমপুর কেন্দ্রীয় কারাগার), also known as Kashimpur Prison or Kashimpur Jail, is a major high-security correctional facility located at Kashimpur union in the Gazipur district of Bangladesh. It is one of the largest and most well-known prisons in the country, as well as one of the biggest prisons in Asia. It was originally constructed in 2001 as an expansion to Dhaka Central Jail. Kashimpur Jail comprises two separate complexes, known as Kashimpur Central Jail-1 and Kashimpur Central Jail-2. These complexes are situated adjacent to each other and are often collectively referred to as Kashimpur Central Jail. The two complexes house both male and female prisoners. The current deputy jailer of the prison is Aminul Islam. Kashimpur Central Jail-1 primarily detains male inmates. Although Kashimpur Central Jail-2 is primarily designated for female prisoners, it houses male inmates as well. It has condemn cells, where convicts who are awaiting execution are kept. Both complexes have separate sections for different categories of prisoners, including those awaiting trial, convicted prisoners, and prisoners with special circumstances. It also holds foreign prisoners. The jail facilitates and executes death sentences by hanging.

M. E. H. Arif College (Bengali: এম.ই.এইচ আরিফ কলেজ) is a higher secondary school located at Konabari, Gazipur Sadar Upazila, Gazipur District, Bangladesh. It offers 7 years (Play-Class Five) primary education (Under Great Mak Primary School), 5 years secondary education, and 2 years higher secondary education. National Institute of Textile Engineering and Research (Bengali: ন্যাশনাল ইনস্টিটিউট অফ টেক্সটাইল ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং এন্ড রিসার্চ) is also known as NITER. Located in Savar, Dhaka District, it is one of the largest undergraduate textile engineering campus in Bangladesh. It offers the Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree in textile engineering, industrial and production engineering, fashion design and apparel engineering, computer science engineering and electrical and electronic engineering in co-ordination with the University of Dhaka. Furthermore it starts M.Sc. in Textile Engineering course under the Faculty of Engineering & Technology and MBA in Textile & Apparel Value Chain under the faculty of Business Studies of the University of Dhaka. The institute is a partnership between the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) and the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, Govt. of Bangladesh. It is a public-private partnership education and research organization and a constituent institute of the University of Dhaka.
