Islamic University of Technology

National University (NU; Bengali: জাতীয় বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়) is a public collegiate university of Bangladesh that was established in 1992 by an Act of Parliament as an affiliating university of the country to impart graduate and post-graduate level education to students through its affiliated colleges, schools and professional institutions throughout the country. The number of colleges under the NU is 2,257. Among these, 555 are government colleges. A total of 881 colleges offer honors courses. It is the second-largest university in the world in terms of enrollment. The headquarters is in Gazipur, on the outskirts of Dhaka. After its establishment, the university began affiliating with association degree-awarding colleges, many of which were previously affiliated with the University of Dhaka, University of Rajshahi, University of Chittagong and Shahjalal University of Science and Technology.

The Bangladesh Open University (BOU) Bengali: বাংলাদেশ উন্মুক্ত বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় (বাউবি), established on 21 October 1992, is a public university with its main campus in Board Bazar, Gazipur District, Dhaka Division. It is the 8th largest university in the world according to enrollment. As the only public university in Bangladesh to use distance education as a method of delivery, BOU is mandated to "promote through multimedia; instruction of every standard and knowledge – both general and scientific – by means of any form of communications technology, to raise the standard of education and to give the people educational opportunities by democratizing education and creating a class of competent people by raising the standard of education of the people generally."

Tairunnessa Memorial Medical College (TMMC) (Bengali: তায়রুন্নেছা মেমোরিয়াল মেডিকেল কলেজ) is a private medical school in Bangladesh, established in 2002. It is an institution of the Tairunnessa Memorial Medical Centre.

Mazida Government High School is the only government high school in Tongi, Gazipur Sadar Upazila, Gazipur District, Bangladesh. The school was built in 1988.

Safiuddin Sarker Academy and College (Bengali: সফিউদ্দিন সরকার একাডেমি এন্ড কলেজ), also known as SSAC, is an educational institution with two shifts, located at Tongi, Gazipur Sadar Upazila, Gazipur District, Bangladesh. The schools under the institution offer five years primary education, five years high school education and two years education for tertiary level. The language of instruction is Bengali. In 2016, about 8,000 students are enrolled. There are about 170 teaching staffs including assistant professors to junior teachers.

Tongi Pilot School & Girls College (Bengali: টঙ্গী পাইলট স্কুল এন্ড গার্লস কলেজ) is situated in Auchpara, Tongi, Gazipur Sadar Upazila, Gazipur District, Bangladesh. It is one of the oldest schools in Gazipur District. In 1947 the school section was established, then in 1991 girls college section was opened.

Gazipur City Corporation (Bengali: গাজীপুর সিটি কর্পোরেশন, abbreviated as GCC), is a local governing body that manages all civic services in the city of Gazipur, Bangladesh. The GCC administration is elected by popular vote every five years. The corporation is headed by a mayor, who oversees a council consisting of 76 councillors representing different wards of the city. The functions and powers of the GCC are defined under the provisions of the The City Corporation act, 2009. Gazipur City Corporation was established in 2013, it is one of the city corporations of Bangladesh. Gazipur City Corporation's total area is 329.23 square kilometers with approximately has the population of 2,674,697 people in the city corporation area. As of 2018, Gazipur City Corporation had 1.1 million voters.

Tongi (Bengali: টঙ্গী) is a major township in Gazipur, Bangladesh, with a population of 350,000. It hosts the Biswa Ijtema and features a BSCIC industrial area, which produces BDT 1500 crore of industrial products annually, and marks the northern border of Dhaka since 1786. Tongi Shahid Smrity high School compound is mass burial site of the genocide in Liberation War of Bangladesh.

Tongi Junction Railway Station is a railway station in Bangladesh located in Tongi, Gazipur District. It is a station between Dhirashram and Dhaka Airport railway station. It is about 5 km north of the airport station and about 12 km south of Joydebpur. The station is served by two dual gauge lines and two platforms. Tongi–Bhairab–Akhaura line starts from this station. During the Bishwa Ijtema, it become a hub of communication and additional trains plied the station.

Hamiduzzaman Sculpture Park is a sculpture park located in Gazipur, Bangladesh. Stretching over 2 acres of land, the park is within a power plant of Summit Group. The park displays sculptures, artworks and mural created by Bangladeshi sculptor Hamiduzzaman Khan. The park is the first open-air sculpture park in Bangladesh and it contains the longest mural of the country with a length of 340-feet. Sculptures and artworks at the park have been created on the overarching theme of fusion between art and industry. The artistic style of the sculptures at the park characterizes modernistic and contemporary genres.
