The Little White Salmon River is a tributary, about 19 miles (31 km) long, of the Columbia River in the U.S. state of Washington. Its headwaters are in the Monte Cristo Range in Gifford Pinchot National Forest. The river flows from this part of the Cascade Range into Drano Lake, an arm of the Bonneville Pool of the Columbia. The river drains a basin of 136 square miles (350 km2) The basin's population was an estimated 513 in 2000.Whitewater kayaking experts sometimes run a 4-mile (6.4 km) stretch of rapids in a steep canyon between the Cook–Underwood Road bridge and Drano Lake. The run, dangerous throughout, is rated Class V (extremely difficult) on the International Scale of River Difficulty. Named rapids include Gettin' Busy, Boulder Sluice, Island, Sacriledge, Double Drop, Backender, S-Turn, Wishbone, Bowey's Hotel, The Gorge, Stovepipe, Spirit Falls, Chaos and Master Blaster. The river has been the scene of two kayaking deaths since this stretch was first run in the 1990s.

Seneca Fouts Memorial State Natural Area is a state park in northern Hood River County, Oregon, just west of the city of Hood River, and is administered by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department. This park is one of a trio encompassing areas in the vicinity of Mitchell Point, along with Vinzenz Lausmann Memorial State Natural Area and Wygant State Natural Area. The three parks offers scenic hiking and views over the Gorge. Seneca Fouts Memorial State Natural Area lies within the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.

Wygant State Natural Area is a state park in northern Hood River County, Oregon, just west of the city of Hood River, and is administered by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department. It is located in the Columbia River Gorge, adjacent to an abandoned section of the Historic Columbia River Highway. This park is one of a trio encompassing areas in the vicinity of Mitchell Point, along with Seneca Fouts Memorial State Natural Area and Vinzenz Lausmann Memorial State Natural Area. The three parks offers scenic hiking and views over the Gorge. There are no facilities. It is primarily a hiking trail through dense forested, mountainous wilderness. The first mile or so is on a paved road, abandoned since about 1960, when I-84 opened. The park website indicates that the trail has prairie and desert portions.Wygant State Natural Area lies within the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.

Mitchell Point is a cape in the Columbia River Gorge in Hood River County, Oregon, United States.Little is known about the man named Mitchell for whom the point was named. He was believed to be a trapper who lived and died in the area. There have been some efforts to rename the point Storm Crest, but they have not been successful.The now-demolished Mitchell Point Tunnel on the Historic Columbia River Highway was bored through the point, which is a cliff that overhangs the Columbia River. The part of the rock through which the tunnel passed was known to the local Native Americans as Little Storm King, and the larger mountain above that point was known as Great Storm King.

Vinzenz Lausmann Memorial State Natural Area is a state park in northern Hood River County, Oregon, 5.3 miles (8.5 km) west of the city of Hood River, and is administered by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department. It is located in the Columbia River Gorge, adjacent to an abandoned section of the Historic Columbia River Highway. This park is one of a trio encompassing areas in the vicinity of Mitchell Point, along with Seneca Fouts Memorial State Natural Area and Wygant State Natural Area. The three parks offer scenic hiking and views over the Gorge. The 126 acres (51 ha) of the park were donated to the state of Oregon by the family of Vinzenz Lausmann, and named in his memory. Vinzenz Lausmann Memorial State Natural Area lies within the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.

The Tunnel Five Fire or Tunnel 5 Fire was a wildfire in Skamania County, Washington in the Columbia River Gorge, near the border with Oregon. Ignited in the morning of July 2, 2023, the cause of the fire is still under investigation. By July 10, the fire was 80% contained, and by the following day it reached 100% containment.

Clifton is an unincorporated locale in Hood River County, Oregon, United States. It is located about 3 miles west of the city of Hood River. The name originates from the drop in elevation Interstate 84 takes from the cliffs there, which are 250 feet above the Columbia River.

Wah Gwin Gwin Falls, also known as Lullaby Falls, is a waterfall of Phelps Creek located in the property of the historic Columbia Gorge Hotel, in Hood River County, in the U.S. state of Oregon. The waterfall is notable for its main drop of 207 feet (63 m) that plunges through steep cascades into the Columbia River, south of the city of Hood River, Oregon.The waterfall runs next to a terrace built along the edge of the back side of the hotel. The terrace is flanked by a wall built with the same masonry ashlar technique of the entry way of the hotel.

The Columbia Gorge Hotel is a historic hotel in Hood River, Oregon, United States. It was built by Simon Benson, who was involved with the Columbia Gorge Scenic Highway. Benson envisioned a hotel at the end of the highway, and completed the Mission style hotel in 1921. The new hotel was built on the site of the previous Wah Gwin Gwin Hotel, built in 1904. Between 1925 and 1952, the hotel went through several changes of ownership.The then-48-room hotel closed in 1952, when it was sold to the Neighbors of Woodcraft, a non-profit fraternal benefit society based in Oregon since 1905, and converted into a retirement home. It was sold again in 1978, with the new owners planning to reopen it as a hotel. After a $1-million renovation, the now-42-room hotel reopened in September 1979.In January 2009, the hotel closed again, due to foreclosure. The foreclosing bank later re-opened the hotel before selling it to Vijay Patel's A-1 Hospitality Group in October 2009 for around $4 million. Between 2009 and 2012, the hotel underwent a major renovation. The Columbia Gorge Hotel is recognized as one of the Historic Hotels of America by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.Guests of the hotel have included Burt Reynolds and Shirley Temple, among others.

Spring Creek Hatchery State Park is a public recreation area lying within the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area on Route 14 in Skamania County, Washington. The state park occupies ten acres (4.0 ha) directly across the Columbia River from Hood River, Oregon. It offers excellent windsurfing and kiteboarding opportunities, as well as picknicking, fishing, and wildlife viewing. The park lies next to the Spring Creek National Fish Hatchery, which offers interpretive programs and self-guided tours.The 5-acre windsurfing area is sometimes known as "The Hatchery" or "The Hatch". The rough water is considered expert-level.

The Edward J. DeHart House, also referred to as Lakecliff, is a historic residence located in Hood River, Oregon, United States.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.
