Port of Everett

The Everett massacre, also known as Bloody Sunday, was an armed confrontation between local authorities and members of the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) union, commonly called "Wobblies". It took place in Everett, Washington, on Sunday, November 5, 1916. The event marked a time of rising tensions in Pacific Northwest labor history.

Everett-Pacific Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Company was established in 1942 to build ships needed for World War II. Yard construction began on 1 March 1942. As part of the Emergency Shipbuilding Program, the US Navy provided some of the capital to start Everett-Pacific Shipbuilding at Port Gardner Bay in Everett, Washington. Everett-Pacific was sold in 1945 to the Pacific Car and Foundry, who was already a major manufacturer of railcars and trucks. Pacific Car and Foundry was building barges for the US Navy during World War II at plants in Renton, Seattle and Tacoma in the state of Washington. The lease for the shipyard in Everett, Washington ended in 1949 and the yard closed. Pacific Car and Foundry in 1972 changed its name to Paccar Inc. to reflect its major products. The Everett-Pacific shipyard site later became part of Western Gear, a heavy machinery manufacturer. From 1987 to 1992, the shipyard was rebuilt to become part of Naval Station Everett. Everett-Pacific Shipbuilding was started by William Pigott Jr. a Seattle businessmen and his brother Paul Pigott (1900-1961). William Pigott Jr. was born in 26 Aug. 1895 in Pueblo, CO and died on 8 July 1947 in San Francisco, CA.

The Rucker Mansion, also known as the Rucker House is a private residence located in Everett, Washington, United States, and is registered with the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). According to the registry, the home was originally commissioned for $40,000 by the Rucker family as a wedding gift for Ruby Brown, who married Bethel Rucker in December 1904. The construction of the Rucker Mansion was completed approximately in July 1905. That same year, local newspaper, the Everett Herald, described the mansion as, “without a doubt, one of the finest residences ever constructed in the Northwest.”

The Everett Public Library (EPL) serves the residents of Everett, Washington. EPL operates a main library at 2702 Hoyt Avenue and the Evergreen branch, at 9512 Evergreen Way. The main library overlooks Puget Sound and the southern end of Whidbey Island. The library has noteworthy artworks, including works by Dudley Pratt, Ransom Patrick, Guy Anderson, Jack Gunter, and Sonja Blomdahl. The library circulates over 900,000 items per year, provides book and media collections, reference services, on-line resources, in-home library services, and programs for adults, children and families. The library's staff includes specialists in adult reference, children's books, and local history. The Everett Public Library introduced a bookmobile service in May 1924; the first of its kind in Washington state, and the second in the West. It is also one of the few public library systems in the United States that has two full-time history specialists on staff. Northwest Room co-founders Margaret Riddle and David Dilgard retired after 31 and 40 years respectively, and their positions are currently filled by Lisa Labovitch with the second role waiting to be posted.

The Monte Cristo Hotel is a historic building located in Everett, Washington. It is a major feature of the city's downtown core. It ceased functioning as a hotel in 1972. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 3, 1976. In 1994 it was restored and redeveloped into low income housing.

Key Bank Tower (also known as the Everett Mutual Tower) is a 203-foot (62 m) tall high-rise office building in downtown Everett, Washington. It has been the tallest building in Everett (measured to the architectural tip) since its completion in 1994. The building originally served as the headquarters of the Everett Mutual Bank until it was acquired by KeyBank in 1998. The tower is currently occupied by Farmers Insurance, First American Insurance, KeyBank, Merrill Lynch, and Skotdal Real Estate offices as well as multiple retail outlets.Key Bank Tower is located at 2707 Colby Avenue, adjacent to the Everett Performing Arts Center. The top floor is home to the studios of radio stations KRKO and KKXA.

The Roland Hartley House is a historic house located at 2320 Rucker Avenue in Everett, Washington.

Trinity Lutheran College was a private Christian liberal arts college in Everett, Washington. It offered bachelor's degrees, associate degrees, and 1-year certificates. The college ceased instruction in 2016.

The U.S. Post Office and Customshouse in Everett, Washington served as the city's main post office from 1917 to 1964. It has also been known as Federal Building. The building, designed in the Neoclassical form by Oscar Wenderoth, now houses the offices of the Chicago Title Company.The two-story building's front facade features eight Greek Ionic columns. The reinforced concrete structure is finished with Wilkinson sandstone and granite quarried in Index.On August 6, 1975, the building, then home to the Bureau of Indian Affairs, was bombed by an unknown assailant at the same time as a federal building in Tacoma.The bureau turned the building over to the General Services Administration in the late 1990s, who prepared it for a possible sale. The city of Everett sought to acquire the building as the home to a museum, but faced competition from the Tulalip Tribes, who planned to house a post office in the building. Ultimately, the building was acquired in 2000 by the Henry Cogswell College for use as its main campus and renovated at a cost of $2 million. The college closed in 2006, selling the building to private developers in 2008 for $2.4 million. The Chicago Title Company moved into the building in 2009.

Everett High School is a secondary school located in Everett, Washington, United States, which educates grades 9 through 12. It was founded in 1880 as the first high school in the Everett School District. The incumbent Principal is now Kelly Shepherd after Amanda M. Overly, who assumed office after former Principal Lance Balla transferred. The Deputy Principals are M. Ingraham, E. Jennings, & A. Vergara. The school is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Naval Station Everett (NAVSTA Everett) is a military installation located in the city of Everett, Washington, 25 miles (40 km) north of Seattle. The naval station, located on the city's waterfront on the northeastern end of Puget Sound, was designed as a homeport for a US Navy carrier strike group and opened in 1994. A separate Navy Support Complex is located in Smokey Point, 11 miles (18 km) north of Everett near Marysville, and houses a commissary, Navy Exchange, a college and other services. NAVSTA Everett is home to seven guided-missile Destroyers, a Coast Guard Keeper-class cutter USCGC Henry Blake, and a USCG Marine Protector-class patrol boat, USCGC Blue Shark. There are about 6,000 sailors and civil service persons assigned to commands located at Naval Station Everett. The Naval Station itself has about 350 sailors and civilians assigned.

Everett City Hall is the name given to a building located in Everett, Washington listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The building originally served as the city hall when it was built in 1929; it was extensively renovated from 1977 to 1979, with the city renting the Roosevelt School from the Everett School District during that time. However, for all practical purposes, it no longer serves this role; the mayor's office and city administration were relocated to the nearby Wall Street Building, which the city bought in 1991 for $11.2 million, around 1993. The building is currently used by the police department and by the city council to hold public meetings.
