Potter's Carr, Cranworth is a 6.3-hectare (16-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest south of Dereham in Norfolk.This area of alder carr and wet pasture is on the bank of the River Blackwater. The diverse flora of the carr is typical of ancient woodland, with plants such as dog's mercury and moschatel. Wintering birds include water rails.The site is private land with no public access.

Scoulton Mere is a 34.2-hectare (85-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest west of Wymondham in Norfolk.The principal ecological interest of this site lies in the swamp, fen and bog flora on islands in the mere and along the shore. The largest island, called Scoulton Heath, is mainly covered in sphagnum moss, and other plants include the nationally rare crested buckler fern.There is no public access to the site.

Scoulton is a small village and civil parish in the county of Norfolk, England, situated 16 miles (26 km) west of the city of Norwich and 21 miles (34 km) north-north-east of Thetford. The villages name means 'Skuli's farm/settlement' Scoulton lies on the main road between Norwich and the market town of Watton. Increasingly a dormitory for workers in Norwich's insurance and other service industries, it was traditionally agricultural, relying particularly on the production of sugar beet and on pig farming. It has a fine, partially thatched Saxon church. The civil parish has an area of 9.02 km2 (3.48 sq mi) and in 2011 had a population of 246 in 99 households. The population is split between two main areas of settlement and a number of small, isolated farms. For the purposes of local government, the parish falls within the district of Breckland.Scoulton is known for its artificial and heavily wooded lake or "mere", which was the product of extensive flint quarrying and a breeding ground of the black-headed gull. Large numbers of eggs were harvested in the Middle Ages. The gull colony survived until at least the 1950s. The harvested eggs formed the basis of a now obsolete dish known as Scoulton Pie. The collection of these eggs is depicted on the village sign.

Letton Hall is a Grade II listed eighteenth-century Neoclassical stately home designed by Sir John Soane for the Gurdon family between 1783 and 1789. It is located at Letton near Shipdham, Norfolk.

Hingham is a market town and civil parish in mid-Norfolk, England. The civil parish covers an area of 14.98 km2 (5.78 sq mi) and had a population of 2,078 in 944 households at the time of the 2001 census, increasing to 2,367 at the 2011 Census.Grand architecture surrounds the historic market place and town greens. According to an 18th-century source, a fire destroyed many of the town's buildings, leading the better-off local families to build the handsome Georgian homes for which the town is known. The same source claims that the Hingham gentry were "so fashionable in their dress that the town is called by the neighbours 'Little London'".Hingham is 13 miles (21 km) west from Norwich, Norfolk's county town. While many Hingham people now work in Norwich, commuting by car or bus, the town has maintained a range of shops and businesses in its historic streets and an industrial estate on Ironside Way. Despite the influence and attractions of Norwich, an active and independent town life continues to thrive and grow in Hingham. A fair visits every year, setting up on the historic Fairlands (an area of several triangular greens). There is a state-run school, providing education for children from the ages of 4–11. Shipdham is a village and civil parish in the Breckland district, in Norfolk, England, approximately 5 miles (8.0 km) south-south-west of Dereham. In the 2001 census the parish had a population of 2,145 in 899 households, falling at the 2011 Census to a population of 2,057 in 899 households. It covers an area of 18.69 km2 (7.22 sq mi). It is also known to be the longest village in Norfolk. The villages name means 'flock of sheep homestead/village'. The River Yare rises to the east of the village and flows east, while the River Wissey rises to the north and flows westwards.Shipdham Airfield (formerly RAF Shipdham) is located east of the village. The village was struck by an F1/T2 tornado on 23 November 1981, as part of the record-breaking nationwide tornado outbreak on that day.

Breckland is a local government district in Norfolk, England. Its council is based in Dereham, although the largest town is Thetford. The district also includes the towns of Attleborough, Swaffham and Watton, along with numerous villages and surrounding rural areas. The district derives its name from the Breckland landscape region, a gorse-covered sandy heath of south Norfolk and north Suffolk. The term "Breckland" dates back to at least the 13th century. The neighbouring districts are King's Lynn and West Norfolk, North Norfolk, Broadland, South Norfolk, Mid Suffolk and West Suffolk.
