The Les Onglous Lighthouse is the terminating point of the Canal du Midi where the canal enters the Étang de Thau. The red and white lighthouse is at the tip of a short jetty projecting into the Étang de Thau. It is located on the east jetty at the canal entrance, about 1.5 km (0.93 mi) south of Marseillan in the Hérault department. The Isthmus of Onglous is a narrow strip of land between the Étang and the Mediterranean.

Marseillan (French pronunciation: ​[maʁsɛjɑ̃]; Occitan: Massilhan) is a commune in the Hérault department in southern France. As of Jan. 2019, the population of Marseillan is 7734.The port of Marseillan is a protected heritage site, and the altar and organ in the church are also listed. There has been virtually no new building in the heart of the village since the 17th century, and many of the houses date to the 12th century.

Cap d'Agde (French pronunciation: ​[kap daɡd]) is a seaside resort on France's Mediterranean coast. It is located in the commune of Agde, in the Hérault department within the region of Occitanie. Cap d'Agde was planned by architect Jean Le Couteur as part of one of the largest state-run development schemes in French history. In the 1960s, the only buildings at the Cap were small houses that were typically used by locals over the weekends. It is now one of the largest leisure ports on the French Mediterranean. Agde can be reached by TGV SNCF train direct from Paris or Lille whilst the closest airport is Béziers-Cap-d'Agde airport, which runs direct budget airline services to the UK and Scandinavia. Cap d'Agde is also served by Montpellier-Fréjorgues airport. Public transport (taxi or bus) is available between Agde and Cap d'Agde. The Musée de l'Ephèbe houses the bronze nude statue known as "l'Ephèbe d'Agde" ("the Youth of Agde"). The statue was discovered in the river Hérault and was housed in the Louvre Museum prior to suitable facilities being made available in Cap d'Agde to house it.

The former French Roman Catholic diocese of Agde existed from about the 6th century to the Concordat of 1801 between First Consul Napoleon Bonaparte and Pope Pius VII. Agde is in the south of France, in what is now the department of Hérault. The last bishop, Charles François de Rouvroy de Saint Simon Sandricourt, was guillotined in Paris on July 25, 1794. The diocesan seat was the Cathedral of Saint-Étienne, originally dedicated to Saint Andrew. The cathedral was served by a Chapter, consisting of twelve Canons, including the Archdeacon, the Sacristan, the Precentor and the Treasurer. There were twelve chaplains (hebdomidarii), eight for daily services and four for requiems. There were thirty-two prebendaries. The diocese had only twenty-six parishes. The territory of the former diocese is now part of the diocese of Montpellier.

Agde Cathedral (French: Cathédrale Saint-Étienne d'Agde) is a Roman Catholic church located in Agde in the Hérault département of southern France. The cathedral is dedicated to Saint Stephen, and stands on the bank of the river Hérault. It was formerly the seat of the Bishops of Agde, the last of whom, Charles-François-Siméon de Rouvroy de Saint-Simon de Vermandois de Sandricourt, was guillotined during the Terror. The see was not restored after the French Revolution and its parishes were added to the Diocese of Montpellier by the Concordat of 1801.

The Youth of Agde (l'Éphèbe d'Agde) is a bronze statue discovered on September 13, 1964, on the bed of the river Herault on the south-eastern coast of France, by Denis Fanquerle and divers from the Agde Marine Archaeological Research Group. It is probably associated with an ancient Greek shipwreck.Standing at a height of 1.33 meters, this bronze statue is dated to the 2nd century BC (late Hellenistic period), and depicts a young man, probably a ruler. His features resemble those of Lysippos' Doryphoros, suggesting that its creator was a student of the master sculptor. The statue itself is in poor condition due to its immersion in the Herault Estuary for so many years. The surface of the bronze is corroded, and the lower half of both arms and both feet are missing. One foot was found six months after the initial discovery, about 600 meters away from the original find, buried under 1.5 meters of silt deposits on the bed of the river. The rest of the parts have yet to be located. The Youth of Agde, for the first fifteen years of its second life on land, resided in the storage rooms of the Louvre. It is now on display at the Agde Museum

The Agde Round Lock (French: L'Écluse Ronde d'Agde) is a canal lock on the Canal du Midi that connects to the Hérault River in Agde France. It is almost unique because it is round, which allows a boat to turn around, and the fact that it has three sets of lock gates, each with a different water level. It was built in 1676 of volcanic stone and was originally 29.20 m in diameter, 5.20 m deep. The lock is no longer round. It was expanded during a program begun in 1978 to expand locks to the Freycinet gauge to allow for barges up to 38.50 metres long.Originally, buildings in the area of the lock included an administration building, stables, shops, and a chapel.The exits are to Béziers via the western section of the Canal du Midi, to Étang de Thau via the upper Hérault river and the eastern section of the Canal du Midi, and south to the Mediterranean via the lower Hérault river.A second French round lock can be found in the form of the now-disused Écluse des Lorraines, connecting the Canal latéral à la Loire with the River Allier.

Agde is a in the département of Hérault in the south of France. Its railway station was opened in 1857 and is on the Bordeaux–Sète line. Its train services are operated by the SNCF. TGV, Intercités and TER Languedoc-Roussillon trains stop at Agde. The station serves the nearby tourist resort of Cap d'Agde.

The Canton of Agde is a subdivision of the French department of Hérault, and its subdivision, the Arrondissement of Béziers.
