Avenue Road, London

The Holborn Division was one of four divisions of the Hundred of Ossulstone, in the county of Middlesex, England. The other divisions were named Finsbury, Kensington and Tower. The area was to the north of the liberty of Westminster, and was included entirely within the County of London on its creation in 1889. It gave its name to the Metropolitan Borough of Holborn created in 1900. The area is now covered by the London Borough of Camden and the northern section of the City of Westminster. In 1829 the Holborn Division contained the following "parishes, townships, precincts and places": The combined parishes of St Giles in the Fields and St George Bloomsbury The combined parishes of St Andrew Holborn Above the Bars with St George the Martyr The liberty of Saffron Hill, Hatton Garden, Ely Rents and Ely Place The liberty of the Rolls The parish of St Pancras The parish of St John, Hampstead The parish of St Marylebone The parish of Paddington The precinct of the Savoy

The Star was a pub at 38 St John's Wood Terrace in St John's Wood, in the City of Westminster, London, for approximately 200 years before closing in 2015. The Westminster City Council listed it as an asset of community value. In 2017 it reopened as a gastropub.

Primrose Hill Tunnel is a 1,164-yard (1,064 m) railway tunnel on the West Coast Main Line, approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) from Euston station. It is located in South Hampstead in the London Borough of Camden, just north of Primrose Hill park and consists of two bores: the slow line to the northern side, driven through the London clay by the engineer Robert Stephenson for the London and Birmingham Railway in 1838, and the fast line to its south, added by the London and North Western Railway in 1879. The original tunnel's Italianate portals were designed by William H Budden and later replicated for the fast line. The western portals have been listed at Grade II and the eastern at Grade II* since 1974.As the first railway tunnel in London, Historic England considers it to be of special historic interest, as well as because "it was the first nationally to negotiate the issue of competing claims for the use of land in an urban context; and the first tunnel to treat one of its portals architecturally".

The UCL Academy is a secondary school located in Swiss Cottage in the London borough of Camden, London, United Kingdom and sponsored by University College London (UCL). It opened in September 2012 with 180 students in Year 7 and recently reached full capacity as of September 2017.

RAK Studios is a recording studio complex, with residential facilities located, used by Rak Records, near Regent's Park in central London, United Kingdom. It was founded in 1976 by English record producer Mickie Most. RAK has four recording rooms. Studios 1 and 2 house API desks; Studio 3 has a vintage Neve VRP Legend console (previously at Abbey Road Studios' Studio 2); and Studio 4 contains an SSL 4056 desk.The RAK complex was a Victorian school and church hall.

The Hampstead Figure is an abstract bronze sculpture by F. E. McWilliam. It was commissioned by Basil Spence and was completed in 1964 for the new Hampstead Civic Centre. It was moved in 2019 to its present location on the Adelaide Road side of the Swiss Cottage Library.The sculpture represents a reclining female figure in abstract form in bronze. It is sited on a plinth. It is inscribed "The Hampstead Figure, 1964" and signed by McWilliam.The National Heritage List for England listing describes it as forming a "close and complementary grouping" with the civic buildings, which include the Swiss Cottage Library.The Hampstead Figure was listed at Grade II on the National Heritage List for England in August 1999.

St John's Wood Barracks is a former military base in St John's Wood in London. Until 2012 it served as headquarters for Royal Horse Artillery troops responsible for (among other things) firing royal salutes in central London.

Chalcots Estate is a council housing estate on Adelaide Road and Fellows Road in Swiss Cottage in the London Borough of Camden. It was designed by Dennis Lennon and Partners. The Chalcots Estate was built on land owned by Eton College, which is reflected in the names of the individual buildings. The Estate comprises five high-rise tower blocks with a total of 711 or 717 flats, in four identical 23-storey towers (Taplow, Burnham, Bray, and Dorney), and one smaller 19-storey block (Blashford). The blocks were built in two stages, with approvals being given in 1965 and 1966, and construction in 1967 and 1968.In 2012, there was a fire in the estate's Taplow Block, where the fire-resistant rock-wool insulation and fire-resistant sealant between floors meant that the fire was contained.

Swiss Cottage Library, is the central library in the public library service of the London Borough of Camden, housed in an architectural landmark building in Avenue Road designed by Sir Basil Spence. It has been Grade II Listed building since 1997.

Swiss Cottage is an area of Hampstead in the London Borough of Camden, England. It is centred on the junction of Avenue Road and Finchley Road and includes Swiss Cottage tube station. Swiss Cottage lies 3.25 miles (5.23 km) north-northwest of Charing Cross. The area was named after a public house in the centre of it, known as "Ye Olde Swiss Cottage".

South Hampstead is part of the London Borough of Camden in inner north London. It is commonly defined as the area between West End Lane in the west, the Chiltern Main Line (south), Broadhurst Gardens north and north-west followed by a non-road line demarcating the south slopes of Hampstead village, west of Belsize Park, and north and west of the usually narrowly defined Swiss Cottage neighbourhood. It takes in some of Fitzjohns Avenue leading up to "the village" (of Hampstead), but the exact amount is an arbitrary measure.
