Big Lake Butte des Morts () is a shallow freshwater lake located in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, in Winnebago County. It is part of the Winnebago Pool (also known as the Winnebago System) of lakes in east central Wisconsin, along with Lake Winnebago, Lake Poygan, and Lake Winneconne. The lake is fed by the Fox River in the southwest and the Wolf River draining from Lake Winneconne in the northwest, and drains via the Fox River southeast into Lake Winnebago. The lake is part of the Butte des Morts region in Winnebago County, Wisconsin. This lake is not connected to Little Lake Butte des Morts, which is located to the north, downstream of Lake Winnebago, fed by the lower Fox River. The name "Butte des Morts" was given by French colonial settlers. It means "Mound of the Dead", in reference to a nearby prehistoric Native American burial mound. In the Menominee language this place is known as Paehkuahkīhsaeh which means "small mound".

Winnebago County is a county in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2020 census, the population was 171,730. Its county seat is Oshkosh. It was named for the historic Winnebago people, a federally recognized Native American tribe now known as the Ho-Chunk Nation. Chief Oshkosh was a Menominee leader in the area. The community is located at the north side of (Big) Lake Butte des Morts on the former route of Wisconsin Highway 110. The name means "hill of the dead" in French. Butte des Morts uses the ZIP code 54927. The Augustin Grignon Hotel, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is located within the community. Butte des Morts has an area of 1.246 square miles (3.23 km2); 1.225 square miles (3.17 km2) of this is land, and 0.021 square miles (0.054 km2) is water. Origin of Name In 1730 French soldiers and Menominee warriors massacred people of the Sauk Nation. The French named the place the Hill of the Dead, or Butte des Morts.

The Wolf River is a 225 mi (362 km) long tributary of the Fox River in northeastern Wisconsin in the Great Lakes region of the United States. The river is one of the two National Scenic Rivers in Wisconsin, along with the St. Croix River. The scenic portion is 24 miles (39 km) long. The river and its parent the Fox River and associated lakes are known for their sturgeon which spawn every spring upstream on the lower river until blocked by the Shawano Dam. The river flows through mostly undeveloped forestland southerly from central Forest County in the north to Lake Poygan (west of Lake Winnebago) in the south. The lake is part of the Winnebago Pool of lakes fed by both the Fox and Wolf Rivers. The Fox-Wolf basin is usually considered to be a single unified basin and the rivers themselves may be referred to as the Fox-Wolf River system. The river is known in the Menominee language as Mahwāēw-Sēpēw, "wolf river".

Algoma is a town in Winnebago County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 6,822 at the 2010 census. The unincorporated communities of Highland Shore, Leonards Point, Melrose Park, and Oakwood are located in the town.

Nearly all of WVCY's schedule is from the national network. By day, WVCY is powered at 250 watts. But 690 AM is a Canadian and Mexican clear channel frequency. So to avoid interference, at night WVCY reduces power to 77 watts. It uses a directional antenna with a three-tower array. Programming is also heard on two FM translators: in Oshkosh at 99.9 MHz and in Appleton at 105.1 MHz.

Oshkosh West High School is a public high school in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and part of the Oshkosh Area School District. As of 2019, the school has 1,691 students in grades 9 through 12. Originally known as Oshkosh High School when the building was opened in 1961, its name was changed when Oshkosh North High School was built in 1972. The facility holds a swimming pool and two gyms, as well as the Alberta Kimball Auditorium.
