Butte des Morts is an unincorporated census-designated place in the town of Winneconne, in Winnebago County, Wisconsin, United States.As of the 2010 census, its population was 962. The community is located at the north side of (Big) Lake Butte des Morts on the former route of Wisconsin Highway 110. The name means "hill of the dead" in French. Butte des Morts uses the ZIP code 54927. The Augustin Grignon Hotel, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is located within the community. Butte des Morts has an area of 1.246 square miles (3.23 km2); 1.225 square miles (3.17 km2) of this is land, and 0.021 square miles (0.054 km2) is water. Origin of Name In 1730 French soldiers and Menominee warriors massacred people of the Sauk Nation. The French named the place the Hill of the Dead, or Butte des Morts.

Big Lake Butte des Morts () is a shallow freshwater lake located in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, in Winnebago County. It is part of the Winnebago Pool (also known as the Winnebago System) of lakes in east central Wisconsin, along with Lake Winnebago, Lake Poygan, and Lake Winneconne. The lake is fed by the Fox River in the southwest and the Wolf River draining from Lake Winneconne in the northwest, and drains via the Fox River southeast into Lake Winnebago. The lake is part of the Butte des Morts region in Winnebago County, Wisconsin. This lake is not connected to Little Lake Butte des Morts, which is located to the north, downstream of Lake Winnebago, fed by the lower Fox River. The name "Butte des Morts" was given by French colonial settlers. It means "Mound of the Dead", in reference to a nearby prehistoric Native American burial mound. In the Menominee language this place is known as Paehkuahkīhsaeh which means "small mound".

The station is owned by Woodward Communications and it airs a news/talk radio format. WHBY's studios and microwave transmitter are located on East College Avenue in Appleton. By day, WHBY is powered at 20,000 watts. At night, the power increases to 25,000 watts. WHBY uses a directional antenna with a six-tower array to protect other stations on 1150 AM from interference. So to avoid interference, at night WVCY reduces power to 77 watts. It uses a directional antenna with a three-tower array. Programming is also heard on two FM translators: in Oshkosh at 99.9 MHz and in Appleton at 105.1 MHz.

Winneconne is a village in Winnebago County, Wisconsin. The population was 2,383 at the time of the 2010 census. The village is located within the Town of Winneconne. Developed along the Wolf River, the community is in the middle of the Wolf Chain of lakes, including Poygan, Winneconne, and Butte des Morts. It is host to numerous bass fishing tournaments.
