Geldeston

Geldeston (also Geldeston Halt) was a station on the Waveney Valley Line serving the village of Geldeston, Norfolk. It was operational for passenger services between 1863 and 1953, before closing completely in 1964. It was the penultimate station on the line, and the last in Norfolk as the line crossed the border into Suffolk before the junction station of Beccles. The station still exists today and can easily be found in Geldeston.

Geldeston Meadows is a 14-hectare (35-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest near Geldeston in Norfolk. It is part of the Broadland Ramsar site and Special Protection Area, and The Broads Special Area of Conservation.These traditionally managed meadows in the flood plain of the River Waveney have a very diverse flora. Most of the site is wet grassland which is dominated by sweet vernal grass, common quaking grass and crested dog's-tail.The site is private land with no public access.

Shipmeadow is a village and civil parish located in the north of the English county of Suffolk. It is in the East Suffolk district, 2.5 miles (4.0 km) east of Bungay and the same distance west of Beccles on the B1062 road. Norwich is 15 miles (24 km) to the north-west. At the 2011 United Kingdom census the parish had a population of 140. The parish council operates jointly with Barsham. The parishes share a village hall, but Shipmeadow has no services, with the parish church being sold for use as private housing in 1980.The River Waveney runs to the north of the parish, with the northern section of the parish within the area of The Broads National Park. The parish borders the parishes of Mettingham, Barsham, Ilketshall St John and Ilketshall St Andrew. The Norfolk parishes of Ellingham and Geldeston border the parish on the northern bank of the Waveney.

Barsham is a village and civil parish in the East Suffolk district of the English county of Suffolk. It is about 2 miles (3.2 km) west of Beccles, south of the River Waveney on the edge of The Broads National Park. It is spread either side of the B1062 Beccles to Bungay road.At the 2011 United Kingdom census the parish had a population of 215. The parish council is jointly operated with neighbouring Shipmeadow, with the two parishes sharing a village hall. Other than this and the parish church, there are no services in the parish.The parish borders the parishes of Beccles, Shipmeadow, Ringsfield and Ilketshall St Andrew. The River Waveney marks the county boundary with Norfolk and the parishes of Geldeston and Gillingham border Barsham to the north of the river.

Leet Hill, Kirby Cane is a 6.5-hectare (16-acre) geological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Kirby Cane in Norfolk. It is a Geological Conservation Review site.This is a quarry which has a sequence of deposits dating to the Middle Pleistocene, with the base of gravels laid down by a confluence to two rivers, above that glacial gravels, and then a sequence of chalky sands probably also laid down by glaciers.The site is a working quarry and there is no public access.

Stockton is a small village in Norfolk, England near the A146, just over 2 miles from Beccles. It covers an area of 3.65 km2 (1.41 sq mi) and had a population of 59 in 25 households at the 2001 census.Its church, St Michael, is one of 124 existing round-tower churches in Norfolk.

On 13 March 2014, an AgustaWestland AW139 helicopter of Haughey Air crashed shortly after taking off at night in fog from Gillingham, Norfolk, United Kingdom, killing all four people on board. Among the victims was Edward Haughey, Baron Ballyedmond. The subsequent investigation concluded that the flight crew may have been subject to somatogravic illusion due to the lack of external visual cues, inducing them to manoeuvre the aircraft into the ground instead of climbing away.

Gillingham ( GHIL-ing-əm) is a small village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. The villages is located 1.5 miles (2.4 km) north-west of Beccles and 15 miles (24 km) south-east of Norwich, along the A146 between Norwich and Lowestoft.

Kirby Cane is a scattered village and civil parish centred 3.8 miles (6.1 km) west northwest of Beccles and 2.7 miles (4.3 km) northeast of Bungay. It is in south-east Norfolk. It housed 375 people in 152 households as at 2001 – then 434 in 179 households at the 2011 Census, the increase in households being almost 18% – unusually large for England. Its north-eastern neighbourhood is often known as Kirby Green. The most populous part is often known as Kirby Row, which is 0.3 miles (0.48 km) from the heart of Ellingham, Norfolk and which is, narrowly, mainly in that parish – whether taken in its historical borders or on its similar boundaries of today. The land drains gently south to the Waveney which is the border with Suffolk. Further north of its isolated church and its small smattering of houses is Wash Lane which leads to the A146 road (between Norwich and Beccles). The church is 12.4 miles (20.0 km) from Norwich in the centre of the county.

Gillingham Hall is a Jacobean manor house in the village of Gillingham, Norfolk, England. It is a Grade II* Listed Building.The house has 10-bedrooms and was built in the early 16th century. It was altered and enlarged in the 18th and 19th centuries, including an 18th-century walled garden, and 19th century additions to the stable block.

Roos Hall (or sometimes Rose Hall) is a manor house and former manor ½ a mile (¾km) west of Beccles in Suffolk. It is a Grade I listed building.It is said to be among the most haunted houses in England, and to have the Devil's footprint imprinted on one of its walls. It was owned by the Suckling family in the 17th century having been bought by Sir John Suckling in 1600. On Suckling's death, Roos Hall was inherited by Sir Alexander Temple (Suckling's brother-in-law) in lieu of repayment of a debt, but was later repurchased by the family. It subsequently passed to the Rich family following the marriage between Sir John Suckling's widow and Sir Edwin Rich.

Ringsfield is a village and civil parish in the English county of Suffolk. It is 2 miles (3.2 km) south-west of Beccles in the East Suffolk district. The parish had a population of 323 at the 2011 United Kingdom census. It borders the parishes of Beccles, Weston, Redisham, Ilketshall St Andrew and Barsham. The parish council operates jointly with Weston.
