The Fossar de la Pedrera (lit. Cemetery of the Quarry) is located on Montjuïc hill in the Sants-Montjuïc district of Barcelona. Forming part of the Montjuïc Cemetery, it was used as a mass grave for 4,000 victims of Spain's White Terror. There is now a memorial on the site.Since 1985, the area also houses the remains of Lluís Companys, the 123rd President of Catalonia, who was executed nearby at the Montjuïc Castle by the Francoist government on 15 October 1940. His death is commemorated annually by Catalan politicians and civilians, who lay a wreath in memory of the president.

La Marina del Prat Vermell is a neighborhood in the Sants-Montjuïc district of Barcelona, Catalonia (Spain). The name comes from fields that occupied this area of low part of la Marina de Sants. This is a new neighborhood that is developing between the other sector of la Marina de Sants, la Marina de Port, and the industrial area of Zona Franca. The new center will have about 30,000 people and occupy about 80 hectares of land which are industrial. The accessibility to the district will be guaranteed once they have completed the construction of the Barcelona Metro line 9.

The Montjuïc Communications Tower (Catalan: Torre de Comunicacions de Montjuïc, IPA: [ˈtorə ðə kumunikəsiˈonz ðə muɲʒuˈik]), popularly known as Torre Calatrava and Torre Telefónica, is a telecommunication tower in the Montjuïc neighbourhood of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. It was designed by Santiago Calatrava, with construction taking place from 1989 to 1992. The white tower was built for Telefónica to transmit television coverage of the 1992 Summer Olympic Games in Barcelona. The 136-metre (446 ft) tower is located in the Olympic park and represents an athlete holding the Olympic Flame. The base is covered with trencadís, Gaudí's mosaic technique created from broken tile shards.

Designed by the Japanese architect Arata Isozaki, it was opened in 1990. The maximum seating capacity of the arena is 17,960. It is the largest indoor arena in Spain. The Palau Sant Jordi was one of the main venues of the 1992 Summer Olympics hosting the artistic gymnastics, handball final, and volleyball final events. Today, it is used for a variety of indoor sport events as well as for concerts and other cultural activities, due to its great flexibility.

It opened on June 29, 1900, and its last bullfight was held on June 19, 1977. The building was reopened in 2011 as a shopping mall named Arenas de Barcelona.

The 1992 Summer Olympics (Spanish: Juegos Olímpicos de Verano de 1992, Catalan: Jocs Olímpics d'estiu de 1992), officially known as the Games of the XXV Olympiad (Spanish: Juegos de la XXV Olimpiada, Catalan: Jocs de la XXV Olimpíada) and commonly known as Barcelona '92, were an international multi-sport event held from 25 July to 9 August 1992 in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. This was the first and to date only Summer Olympics to be held in the country. Beginning in 1994, the International Olympic Committee decided to hold the Summer and Winter Olympics in alternating even-numbered years. 1992 was the final year in which both the Summer and Winter Olympics were staged. This games was the second and last two consecutive Olympic games to be held in Western Europe after the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, France held five months earlier. The 1992 Summer Games were the first since the end of the Cold War, and the first unaffected by boycotts since the 1972 Summer Games. 1992 was also the first year South Africa was re-invited to the Olympic Games by the International Olympic Committee, after a 32-year ban from participating in international sport. The Unified Team (made up by the former Soviet republics without the Baltic states) topped the medal table, winning 45 gold and 112 overall medals.
