Wrights Lake

Blue Mountain is a mountain in the Crystal Range, a subrange of the Sierra Nevada. It is west of Lake Tahoe on the western boundary of the Desolation Wilderness in El Dorado County, California.

The Lyons trailhead or Lyons Creek trailhead is located on Wrights Lake Road off Highway 50 about halfway to Wrights Lake. Some of the destinations most accessed by the trailhead are Lyons Lake (6 miles (9.7 km)) and Sylvia Lake (6 miles (9.7 km)) as well as the rest of the Desolation Wilderness. The summit of Pyramid Peak (California) can be reached from this trailhead as well. The trail leads east from the trailhead and follows along the southern edge of Lyons creek for several miles.

Silver Peak is a mountain in the Sierra Nevada mountain range at the north end of the Crystal Mountains, to the east of Lake Tahoe. It is located in the Desolation Wilderness in El Dorado County, California.

Mount Price is a mountain in the Sierra Nevada at the southern end of the Crystal Range, and southwest of Lake Tahoe. The summit is located in the Desolation Wilderness and the El Dorado County, California.

Pyramid Peak is a mountain in the California's Sierra Nevada in the Crystal Range to the west of Lake Tahoe. It is the highest point in the Desolation Wilderness. With an elevation gain of almost 4,100 feet (1,250 m), the Rocky Canyon route is the mountain's most popular approach although it is very arduous. To the east, at the base of the peak, lies Pyramid Lake.

Lake Aloha is a large shallow backcountry reservoir located at an elevation of 8,116 ft (2,474 m) in the Sierra Nevada Range, west of Lake Tahoe in El Dorado County, in eastern California. The reservoir is located in Desolation Valley, within the federally protected Desolation Wilderness area. The shortest and easiest approach is from Echo Lake by the Pacific Crest Trail. Alternately, it can be reached by the Glen Alpine Springs Trailhead, near the city of South Lake Tahoe. There is a moderate gain in elevation as you head west. From the south, Lake Aloha can be reached by the Ralston Peak Trail or cross country through Horsetail Falls and Desolation Valley. To reach the base of Price and Pyramid Peaks, in the Crystal Range of the Sierra Nevada, you have to traverse the Lake Aloha area. The primary outflow from Lake Aloha is Pyramid Creek, which flows south for roughly four miles before it empties into the South Fork American River near Twin Bridges. Pyramid Creek was first dammed to create Lake Aloha in 1875, creating a year-round water source for grazing cattle and inundating a collection of natural lakes known as the Medley Lakes. The dam was later raised, and several auxiliary dams were constructed up to 1955.

Waca Lake is a backcountry lake in the Desolation Wilderness in the Sierra Nevada mountain range of California. It lies just south of Lake Aloha.

Pyramid Lake is a lake in the backcountry of the Desolation Wilderness in the Sierra Nevada of El Dorado County, California.

The Desolation Wilderness is a 63,960-acre (258.8 km2) federally protected wilderness area in the Eldorado National Forest and Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, in El Dorado County, California. The crest of the Sierra Nevada runs through it, just west of Lake Tahoe.

Dicks Peak is a 9,974-foot-elevation (3,040 meter) mountain summit located in the Sierra Nevada mountain range in El Dorado County, California, United States. It is the third-highest peak in the Desolation Wilderness, and is set on land managed by Eldorado National Forest. It is situated six miles (9.7 km) south of Lake Tahoe, and approximately eight miles (13 km) west of the community of South Lake Tahoe. Topographic relief is significant as the west aspect rises over 2,300 feet (700 meters) above Rockbound Valley in approximately one mile. One-half mile east of the peak the Pacific Crest Trail and Tahoe Rim Trail traverse Dicks Pass, which provides an approach option for those climbing the peak. Inclusion on the Sierra Peaks Section peakbagging list generates climbing interest.

Sciots Camp (formerly, Sciot Camp) is a small unincorporated community in El Dorado County, California. It is located on the South Fork of the American River 4 miles (6.4 km) south of Pyramid Peak, at an elevation of 5659 feet (1725 m). The ZIP code is 95610. The community is inside area code 530. Sciots Camp is a USFS Recreation Residences community.

Strawberry is a small unincorporated community on the South Fork American River, 3.25 miles (5 km) south-southwest of Pyramid Peak, along U.S. Route 50 in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. The sign on the highway reads “population 50”. The town became a popular resort in the 1850s, and a station along the Central Overland Pony Express between Yank's Station and Webster's, Sugar Loaf House Station. It was along the Lincoln Highway Sierra Nevada Southern Route by 1916. The site is now registered as California Historical Landmark #707. Strawberry is also the home of the Lovers Leap climbing area.
