Karkarook Park is a metropolitan park in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, located at the northwest corner of the southeastern suburb of Heatherton (formerly under Moorabbin), southeast of the intersection between Warrigal Road and Dingley Bypass, accessible to cars only via Fairchild Street on the south side. The park is a wetland reserve built around the Karkarook Lake, a 15 hectares (37 acres), 420 m (1,380 ft) wide artificial lake built from a pit created by sand mining between 1997 and 2001, filled in 2004 by groundwater pumped from a bore 500 metres (550 yd) to the southeast.

The 2016 World Cup of Golf (known as the 2016 ISPS Handa World Cup of Golf for sponsorship reasons) was a golf tournament played from 24–27 November at Kingston Heath Golf Club in Melbourne, Australia. It was the 58th World Cup. Twenty-eight countries competed as two-player teams. The format was 72-hole stroke play; the first and third days were alternate shot, and the second and fourth days were four-ball play. The tournament was won by Denmark by four shots.

The Division of Hotham is an Australian Electoral Division in Victoria. It is located in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Hotham covers an area of approximately 83 square kilometres from Oakleigh in the north to Dingley Village in the south. The school officially opened in 1959 as 'Cheltenham High School', and then later changed its name to Cheltenham Secondary College. The school is most famous for its Windsor-Cheltenham Exchange. The exchange in its 55th year is participated by Avenues College in Adelaide and Cheltenham where a range of sports and other activities are played out over a week to see who will win the Exchange Shield, Captains Plate and Exchange Cup.

Bentleigh Greens Soccer Club is an Australian semi professional soccer club based in Cheltenham, a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria. The club was formed in 1986, by the Greek Cypriot community and currently competes in the National Premier Leagues Victoria. Bentleigh made nationwide headlines when it became the first club below the A-League to make the semi-final of the FFA Cup in 2014. The Greens hit another milestone a year later when they claimed their first major trophy, the NPL Victoria title. In 2016, Bentleigh Greens became Victorian top-flight league premiers for the first time. Bentleigh are one of six state league teams to have eliminated an A-League team in the FFA Cup, along with Heidelberg United FC, Redlands United FC, Green Gully SC, Adelaide City FC, and Blacktown City FC.

The Yarra Yarra Golf Club is a private golf club in Australia, located in Victoria at Bentleigh East, a suburb southeast of Melbourne. It is one of the eight Melbourne Sandbelt championship courses and is renowned for its par-3s. It has hosted the Women's Australian Open seven times as well as several editions of the Victorian Open. The club was formed in 1898 and the current course opened 94 years ago in 1929; it is named for the Yarra River. In the 1970s the club professional was Geoff Parslow. In 1977 he won the Victorian Open when it was held at Yarra Yarra. His surprise victory garnered much media attention; he defeated some of the world's best, including Greg Norman and Johnny Miller.

Cheltenham recorded a population of 23,992 at the 2021 census.Cheltenham is currently undergoing significant gentrification and development. The eastern side of the area's metropolitan railway line and Charman Road north is located within the City of Kingston, while the suburb's western region towards extensive golf links, parks and Port Phillip Bay falls within the City of Bayside. A significant feature in Cheltenham is Westfield Southland, a major shopping centre which opened in 1968.
