Castle Quarter (Budapest)

Hegyvidék (German: Bergland, literally "Highlands", or "Mountain-land") is the official name of the XII district of Budapest (Hungarian: Budapest XII. kerülete), capital of Hungary. It is a region of Buda, on the west bank of river Danube.

Britannica International School, Budapest was founded in 1994 and is the longest established British School in Hungary. The educational programme is based on the National Curriculum for England suitably enhanced to reflect the school’s truly international nature. The school located in District XII in the Buda Hills has a diverse student population with 46 nationalities between the ages of 5-18.

Farkasréti Cemetery or Farkasrét Cemetery (Hungarian: Farkasréti temető) is one of the most famous cemeteries in Budapest. It opened in 1894 and is noted for its extensive views of the city (several people wanted it more to be a resort area than a cemetery). It comprises tombs of numerous Hungarian notables and it is the most preferred burial place among actors, actresses and other artists (opera singers, musicians, painters, sculptors, architects, writers, poets). The cemetery is also home to the tombs of several scientists, academicians and athletes. Graves are often decorated with noteworthy sculptures. It was provided with parks in the 1950s, when it took on its present appearance and extent. The mortuary hall and the new chapel were built in the 1980s to the plans of Imre Makovecz. In the Communist era, funerals were restricted in Kerepesi Cemetery, so it became the main cemetery for those who couldn't get one. It is located in Buda (the Western part of Budapest), approximately 3 km away from the downtown. The oldest grave that is still located in its original place is that of the mechanical engineer Ferenc Cathry Szaléz, the designer of the Rack railway in Budapest and the original Mária Valéria bridge in Esztergom.

The Memorial for Victims of the German Occupation is a monument created in memory of the German invasion of Hungary, located in Budapest's Liberty Square. The memorial has sparked controversy and angered Jewish community organizations, with critics alleging that the monument absolves the Hungarian state and Hungarians of their collaboration with Nazi Germany and complicity in the Holocaust. Accordingly, many individuals and organizations leave improvised individual tributes to Holocaust victims along the edge of the site.

Pasarét (German: Sauwiesen) is a neighbourhood on the Buda side of Budapest. On the maps edited around the beginning of the nineteenth century it was called Sauwiesen (Pig Meadow) and also as Schmalzbergel (Fat Hill). At the time of and within this area's founding, people spoke German, hence, the German nicknames; however, this countryside preserved the Hungarian language as well. On earlier army maps, it is simply labelled as Ried (meadow). The Serbs (rácok) living in the Castle District also called this place Paša (meadow in Serbian Latin: paša. Serbian Cyrillic: паша). In 1847 Gábor Döbrentei connected the Serbian name with the Hungarian word for meadow (rét) to form the present name of this part of Buda. The first vehicle of the Budapest Cog-wheel Railway ran from 4 p.m. on June 24, 1874, and regular traffic began on the following day. The clay-mines which made possible to build up the road in Pasarét in the 1880s were on the place of the now Vasas Sporttelep (Sport Stadion). The huge Ludovika Engineer Academy was built up in 1895 vis-á-vis the than woody excursionspot with famous restaurant-gardens "Szép Ilona". After creating an association for settling down became the Pasarét the villa-quartier in the beginning of the twentieth century and the area has been fully built-up between the two world wars. Great artists and scientists settled here, among others Béla Bartók (composer), Ernö Dohnányi (composer), Imre Nagy (politician), István Örkény (writer), and Antal Szerb (writer).

The Tschögl building is an apartment building located at Varosmajor utca 50b, Budapest. The Hungarian architects Viktor and Aladar Olgyay designed the building in 1940 for Siklósi Tschögl Miklós (Nicholas W. Tschoegl) and his great aunt, Tschögl Boriska. The building was one of the Olgyays' earliest commissions and incorporated a number of unusual and innovative features; it is still standing in 2015.

The Budapest Japanese School (BJS; 在ハンガリー日本国大使館付属ブダペスト日本人学校 Zai Hangarī Nihon-koku Taishikan Fuzoku Budapesuto Nihonjin Gakkō; Hungarian: Budapesti Japán Iskola) is a Japanese international school operating in an auxiliary building of Virányos Iskola, a Hungarian-language elementary school in Budapest, Hungary. It serves as an elementary and junior high school, and it is affiliated with the Embassy of Japan in Budapest. As of 2005 there were going to be around six students.

The German School of Budapest - Thomas Mann Gymnasium (commonly referred to as DSB) (German: Deutsche Schule Budapest - Thomas Mann Gymnasium) is a private international school in Budapest, Hungary. It was founded in 1908 to serve German families in Hungary. It now has a diverse student body with primarily children of the expatriate business and diplomatic communities. Considered to be one of the best schools of its kind, it was awarded a Certificate of Excellence by the Central Agency for German Schools Abroad in 2012 and again in 2020.

The Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (in Hungarian: Moholy-Nagy Művészeti Egyetem, MOME), former Hungarian University of Arts and Design, is located in Budapest, Hungary. Named after László Moholy-Nagy, the university offers programs in art, architecture, designer and visual communication.

The Buda Health Center is a private health clinic in Budapest. Established in 2000, it offers outpatient health care in two locations in the XIIth District, on Nagy Jenő Street and Királyhágó Street, and in one location in the IIIrd District, at the Graphisoft Park. More than 100 physicians in 45 specialties see their private patients in the facility and more than 230 national and multinational companies have contracted with them for their employees’ health care. The National Center for Spinal Disorders is its affiliate hospital. The hospital also offers publicly financed outpatient care in the areas of musculoskeletal disorders (spine care, orthopedics, traumatology) and anesthesiology as well as inpatient spine care and spine surgery for national and international private patients and patients covered by Hungarian Health Insurance.In 2006, the Buda Health Center earned 1.7 billion Hungarian Forints mainly from international patients while in 2011, the earnings reached 3 billion. By the middle of 2013, the Buda Health Center had contract agreements with more than 230 national and multinational companies.

Rádió Rock 95.8 was a Hungarian rock music radio station. It was the only radio station in Hungary which broadcast rock music exclusively.

Music FM was a Hungarian commercial radio station, airing at 89.5 FM in Budapest. Its first broadcast was on 7 March 2012. Music FM had a Top 50 popularity chart. The station ceased its operations at 23:59 on 7 February 2019 after multiple unsuccessful applications to renew its permit for the frequency at the end of the seven years contract.
