Lower Swell War Memorial is a First World War memorial in the centre of the village of Lower Swell in Gloucestershire in south-western England. The memorial, designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, was unveiled in 1921 and is today a grade II listed building.

The parish population taken at the 2011 census was 471.The village is about 0.5 miles (800 m) east of the A424, around 1.5 miles (2.4 km) west of the Fosse Way (A429) and is on the Heart of England Way. Longborough has a village shop and post office; a farm shop; an opera house; two public houses, one in the village itself, and the other in the hamlet of Ganborough; a village school and the 12th-century Church of England parish church of St James.In September 2001, Longborough was the winner of the Bledisloe Cup competition for best kept village.Longborough hosts the Longborough Festival Opera, in a converted barn at the edge of the village. The village falls in the 'Fosseridge' electoral ward. This ward starts in Broadwell passes Longborough and ends in the northeast at Todenham. The total ward population taken at the 2011 census was 1,794.

St Edward's Church is a medieval-built Church of England parish church, serving Stow-on-the-Wold ('Stow'), Gloucestershire. A tourist attraction, it is among 98 Grade I listed buildings in Cotswold (district), a mainly rural district having about one third of the total of Grade I listed buildings in Gloucestershire. The surrounding district, due to many factors such as the Cotswold Hills and distance from major cities, has a concentration of conservation areas featuring neatly cut blocks and masonry of Cotswold stone which is borne out by the building materials of the church's square-towered, multi-arch structure. Its large stained glass windows, buttresses and neatly kept churchyard are among the reasons for its listing in the highest architectural category.

The Talbot, formerly known as The Talbot Hotel, is a public house in the Market Square in Stow-on-the-Wold, Gloucestershire, England. The structure, which was originally a coaching inn and later served as the local corn exchange as well as the main hotel in the town, is a Grade II listed building.

Stow-on-the-Wold is a market town and civil parish in Gloucestershire, England, on top of an 800-foot (244 m) hill at the junction of main roads through the Cotswolds, including the Fosse Way (A429), which is of Roman origin. The town was founded by Norman lords to absorb trade from the roads converging there. Fairs have been held by royal charter since 1330; a horse fair is still held on the edge of the town in May and October each year.

The Battle of Stow-on-the-Wold (21 March 1646) took place during the First English Civil War. It was a Parliamentarian victory by detachments of the New Model Army over the last Royalist field army. In the spring of 1646, King Charles I of England was getting ever more desperate to hold the Royalist cause together whilst waiting for the long promised relief forces from Ireland, Scotland and France. Sir Jacob Astley took command of the Royalist forces in the west and began to gather up the remnants from the handful of Royalist garrisons still left in the West Midlands to create a new field army. At this point in the war, Royalist morale was low. However, Astley, a stalwart of the Royalist commanders and an experienced soldier, was able to cobble together a force of 3,000. While returning to Oxford he was intercepted and defeated at Stow-on-the-Wold.

Ganborough is a hamlet located along the A424 road, approximately 2 miles NNW of Stow on the Wold. Ganborough is located in Gloucestershire, a county in South-West England. It also lies in the Cotswold Hills, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Although its boundaries are uncertain, the hamlet includes the Coach and Horses public house, owned by the local Donnington Brewery, and the surrounding houses. There is also a chambered tomb situated on a nearby hilltop.
