The Budapest Zoo & Botanical Garden (Hungarian: Fővárosi Állat- és Növénykert, lit. 'Metropolitan Zoo and Botanical Garden') is the oldest zoo in Hungary and one of the oldest in the world. It has 1,072 animal species and is located within the City Park of Budapest, in the centre of the city, unusually for a zoo. The zoo opened its doors on 9 August 1866. The park has 1–1.1 million visitors every year. The area is a nature reserve, and has some valuable art nouveau buildings designed by Kornél Neuschloss and Károly Kós. The most special animals that are present in the zoo are the Komodo dragon and since December 2011 the wombat. The zoo is located in the city centre and can be reached by Line 1 of the Budapest Metro. Official city card (Budapest Card) owners get a 25% discount for a single ticket into the zoo.

Állatkert was an above-ground station of the M1 line of the Budapest Metro. It existed between 1896 and 1973 on the original surface alignment of the line through the Városliget (City Park) from Hősök tere station to a surface terminus at Széchenyi fürdő station. In 1973, in connection with the extension of the line to Mexikói út station, the line was diverted on a different route under the park. The old surface terminus at Széchényi fürdo was replaced by a new underground station on the same site, but Állatkert station was abandoned.The only remaining visible feature of the station and the railway it stood on is a bridge, which formerly crossed the metro line but now simply crosses a lawn. It is a very early example of a reinforced concrete bridge, designed by György Brüggemann and built by Róbert Wünsch.

The Museum of Fine Arts (Hungarian: Szépművészeti Múzeum [ˈseːpmyveːsɛti ˈmuːzɛum]) is a museum in Heroes' Square, Budapest, Hungary, facing the Palace of Art. It was built by the plans of Albert Schickedanz and Fülöp Herzog in an eclectic-neoclassical style , between 1900 and 1906. The museum's collection is made up of international art (other than Hungarian), including all periods of European art, and comprises more than 100,000 pieces. The collection is made up of older additions such as those from Buda Castle, the Esterházy and Zichy estates, as well as donations from individual collectors. The Museum's collection is made up of six departments: Egyptian, Antique, Old sculpture gallery, Old master paintings gallery, Modern collection, Graphics collection. The institution celebrated its centenary in 2006.

Hősök tere (Hungarian pronunciation: [ˈhøːʃøk ˈtɛrɛ]), lit. Heroes' Square, is one of the major squares in Budapest, Hungary, noted for its iconic Millennium Monument with statues featuring the Seven chieftains of the Magyars and other important Hungarian national leaders, as well as the Memorial Stone of Heroes, often erroneously referred as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The square lies at the outbound end of Andrássy Avenue next to City Park (Városliget). It hosts the Museum of Fine Arts and the Palace of Art (Műcsarnok). The square has played an important part in contemporary Hungarian history and has been a host to many political events, such as the reburial of Imre Nagy in 1989. Most sculptures were made by sculptor György Zala from Lendava, with one made by György Vastagh. In Budapest there are three more squares named Hősök tere, 'Heroes' Square', in the districts or neighbourhoods of Soroksár, Békásmegyer and Rákosliget.

Hősök tere is a station of the yellow M1 line of the Budapest Metro. Formerly called Aréna út station, it lies under Hősök tere (Heroes' Square) at the outer end of Andrássy Avenue. The station was opened on 2 May 1896 as part of the inaugural section of the Budapest Metro, between Vörösmarty tér and Széchenyi fürdő. This section, known as the Millennium Underground Railway, was the first metro system in continental Europe. In 2002, it was included into the World Heritage Site "Budapest, including the Banks of the Danube, the Buda Castle Quarter and Andrássy Avenue".Until 1973, the line came to the surface just beyond Hősök tere and followed an indirect surface alignment through the Városliget (City Park), passing the intermediate Állatkert station to a surface terminus at Széchenyi fürdő. In 1973 the line was diverted at Hősök tere and extended to a new terminus at Mexikói út station. The new extension followed a new underground route beneath the park, with a new intermediate station at the site of the previous terminus. Állatkert station was closed. The station has two side platforms, each with its own independent access from the street.

It was formerly called Artézi fürdő station. Széchenyi fürdő was the original terminus of the inaugural section of the Budapest Metro from Vörösmarty tér. In 2002, it was included into the World Heritage Site "Budapest, including the Banks of the Danube, the Buda Castle Quarter and Andrássy Avenue".There have actually been two stations on the same site. The original station was opened on 2 May 1896 as a surface-level terminal station. It was connected to the underground Hősök tere station by an indirect surface alignment through Állatkert station and the park. On 30 December 1973, a diverted and extended line was opened under the park to Mexikói út station, and a new underground through station was opened at Széchenyi fürdő. At the same time, Állatkert station was abandoned.The station has two side platforms, each with its own independent access from the street.

The Budapest Hall of Art or Palace of Art, (Hungarian − Műcsarnok Kunsthalle), is a contemporary art museum and a historic building located in Budapest, Hungary.

The City Park Ice Rink (Hungarian: Városligeti Műjégpálya) is a public ice rink located in the City Park of the Hungarian capital Budapest, between the Heroes' Square and the Vajdahunyad Castle. Opened in 1870, it is the largest and one of the oldest ice rinks in Europe. In summer months the area is filled up with water to create a pond, which is primarily used for boating, but also hosted several special events, such as the snowball fight world record attempt in 2009 or the Art on Lake exhibition in 2011.It went through a complete renovation between 2009 and 2011, in which the main building was restored to its 19th-century look. The skating area was expanded to 12,000 square metres (130,000 sq ft) and a standard ice hockey rink was set up as well. The skating rink re-opened on 16 December 2011 and it was the home of the 2012 European Speed Skating Championships from 6 to 8 January. The memorial of the Hungarian Ice Hockey Hall of Fame is also found at the City Park Ice Rink since its inauguration in February 2012.

The Széchenyi Medicinal Bath in Budapest (IPA: [seːtʃeːɲi], Hungarian: Széchenyi gyógyfürdő) is the largest medicinal bath in Europe. Its water is supplied by two thermal springs, their temperature is 74 °C (165 °F) and 77 °C (171 °F). Components of the thermal water include sulfate, calcium, magnesium, bicarbonate and a significant amount of metaboric acid and fluoride.

Artpool Art Research Center is an archive, research space, specialist and media library in Budapest, Hungary, dedicated to international contemporary and avant-garde arts, such as Artist's books, artistamp, mail art, visual poetry, sound poetry, conceptual art, fluxus, installation, performance.It was founded in 1979 based on the "Active Archive" conception as a center for the type of avant-garde art that was marginalized by the state-socialist establishment. The "Active Archive does not only collect material already existing 'out there', but the way it operates also generates the very material to be archived".The public archive and library contain unique documents of international and Hungarian avant-garde art and subculture from the 1960s on, such as "correspondence, notes, plans, ideas, interviews, writings, works of art, photo documents, catalogs, invitation cards, bibliographies, chronologies, diagrams, video and sound documents, CD-Roms, etc." Artpool in addition to running its own research projects receives ca. 100 local and foreign researchers, university students, interns, and volunteers yearly. It participates in conferences and in international research groups. Some of the international avant-garde artists and art-groups who are in the Artpool Archives, and have exhibited and lectured there include: Fluxus artists Ben Vautier, Dick Higgins, Geoffrey Hendricks, Endre Tót, Robert Watts, Jean-Jacques Lebel, Ray Johnson sound poets and performers Jaap Blonk, Paul Panhuysen, Bernard Heidsieck, Tibor Papp, Julien Blaine, Ernst Jandl, mail art and artist's book artists Guglielmo Achille Cavellini, Buster Cleveland, Ginny Lloyd, Anna Banana, Vittore Baroni, Guy Bleus, John Held, Jr., Barbara Rosenthal.
