The Timewheel (Hungarian: Időkerék) is a large hourglass, situated in Budapest next to City Park, right of Heroes' Square and behind the Palace of Art (Műcsarnok), on the site of a former statue of Lenin that now stands in Memento Park. It is made of granite, steel, and glass, and weighs 60 tons. The sand, which consists of glass granules, flows from the upper to the lower glass chamber over the course of one year.The sand runs out on New Year's Eve and the Timewheel is then turned 180 degrees so the flow of the sand can resume for the next year. The turning is accomplished by four people pulling cables, and takes roughly 45 minutes to complete. The Timewheel was unveiled on 1 May 2004 to commemorate the historic enlargement of the European Union that admitted Hungary (along with nine other countries) to the EU.János Herner designed and built the Timewheel after an architectural design done by István Janáky.

The Budapest Hall of Art or Palace of Art, (Hungarian − Műcsarnok Kunsthalle), is a contemporary art museum and a historic building located in Budapest, Hungary.

Vajdahunyad Castle (Hungarian: Vajdahunyad vára) is a castle in the City Park of Budapest, Hungary. It is a copy of Hunyad Castle, known as Corvin Castle (Romanian: Castelul Corvinilor), in Hunedoara, Romania. It was built in 1896 as part of the Millennial Exhibition which celebrated the 1,000 years of Hungary since the Hungarian Conquest of the Carpathian Basin in 895. The castle was designed by Ignác Alpár to feature copies of several landmark buildings from different parts of the Kingdom of Hungary, especially the Hunyad Castle in Transylvania (now in Romania). As the castle contains parts of buildings from various time periods, it displays different architectural styles: Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque. Originally, it was made from cardboard and wood, but it became so popular that it was rebuilt from stone and brick between 1904 and 1908. Today, it houses the Museum of Hungarian Agriculture, the biggest agricultural museum in Europe.The statue of the chronicler Anonymus (by Miklós Ligeti) is also displayed in the castle court. Anonymus lived in the 12th century (his true identity is unknown, but he was a notary of Béla III of Hungary), who wrote the chronicle Gesta Hungarorum (Deeds of the Hungarians). The external wall of the castle contains a bust of Béla Lugosi, a Hungarian-American actor famous for portraying Count Dracula in the original 1931 film.

Hősök tere (Hungarian pronunciation: [ˈhøːʃøk ˈtɛrɛ]), lit. Heroes' Square, is one of the major squares in Budapest, Hungary, noted for its iconic Millennium Monument with statues featuring the Seven chieftains of the Magyars and other important Hungarian national leaders, as well as the Memorial Stone of Heroes, often erroneously referred as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The square lies at the outbound end of Andrássy Avenue next to City Park (Városliget). It hosts the Museum of Fine Arts and the Palace of Art (Műcsarnok). The square has played an important part in contemporary Hungarian history and has been a host to many political events, such as the reburial of Imre Nagy in 1989. Most sculptures were made by sculptor György Zala from Lendava, with one made by György Vastagh. In Budapest there are three more squares named Hősök tere, 'Heroes' Square', in the districts or neighbourhoods of Soroksár, Békásmegyer and Rákosliget.

The Stalin Monument was a statue of Joseph Stalin in Budapest, Hungary. Completed in December 1951 as a "gift to Joseph Stalin from the Hungarians on his seventieth birthday", it was torn down on October 23, 1956 by enraged anti-Soviet crowds during Hungary's October Revolution.

Hungarian Catholics, like elsewhere, are part of the worldwide Catholic Church under the spiritual leadership of the Pope in Rome. According to a 2019 survey by Eurobarometer, 62% of Hungarians consider themselves Catholics. The Latin Church in the country is divided into 12 dioceses, including 4 archdioceses. In addition, there is a Latin territorial abbey and a separate sui juris particular Church for those who adhere to the Byzantine Rite known as the Hungarian Greek Catholic Church.

Hősök tere is a station of the yellow M1 line of the Budapest Metro. Formerly called Aréna út station, it lies under Hősök tere (Heroes' Square) at the outer end of Andrássy Avenue. The station was opened on 2 May 1896 as part of the inaugural section of the Budapest Metro, between Vörösmarty tér and Széchenyi fürdő. This section, known as the Millennium Underground Railway, was the first metro system in continental Europe. In 2002, it was included into the World Heritage Site "Budapest, including the Banks of the Danube, the Buda Castle Quarter and Andrássy Avenue".Until 1973, the line came to the surface just beyond Hősök tere and followed an indirect surface alignment through the Városliget (City Park), passing the intermediate Állatkert station to a surface terminus at Széchenyi fürdő. In 1973 the line was diverted at Hősök tere and extended to a new terminus at Mexikói út station. The new extension followed a new underground route beneath the park, with a new intermediate station at the site of the previous terminus. Állatkert station was closed. The station has two side platforms, each with its own independent access from the street.

Széchenyi fürdő is a station of the yellow M1 (Millennium Underground) line of the Budapest Metro, located in the centre of the Városliget (City Park) near the Széchenyi Medicinal Bath. It was formerly called Artézi fürdő station. Széchenyi fürdő was the original terminus of the inaugural section of the Budapest Metro from Vörösmarty tér. This section, known as the Millennium Underground Railway, was the first metro system in continental Europe. In 2002, it was included into the World Heritage Site "Budapest, including the Banks of the Danube, the Buda Castle Quarter and Andrássy Avenue".There have actually been two stations on the same site. The original station was opened on 2 May 1896 as a surface-level terminal station. It was connected to the underground Hősök tere station by an indirect surface alignment through Állatkert station and the park. On 30 December 1973, a diverted and extended line was opened under the park to Mexikói út station, and a new underground through station was opened at Széchenyi fürdő. At the same time, Állatkert station was abandoned.The station has two side platforms, each with its own independent access from the street.

The Museum of Fine Arts (Hungarian: Szépművészeti Múzeum [ˈseːpmyveːsɛti ˈmuːzɛum]) is a museum in Heroes' Square, Budapest, Hungary, facing the Palace of Art. It was built by the plans of Albert Schickedanz and Fülöp Herzog in an eclectic-neoclassical style , between 1900 and 1906. The museum's collection is made up of international art (other than Hungarian), including all periods of European art, and comprises more than 100,000 pieces. The collection is made up of older additions such as those from Buda Castle, the Esterházy and Zichy estates, as well as donations from individual collectors. The Museum's collection is made up of six departments: Egyptian, Antique, Old sculpture gallery, Old master paintings gallery, Modern collection, Graphics collection. The institution celebrated its centenary in 2006.

Állatkert was an above-ground station of the M1 line of the Budapest Metro. It existed between 1896 and 1973 on the original surface alignment of the line through the Városliget (City Park) from Hősök tere station to a surface terminus at Széchenyi fürdő station. In 1973, in connection with the extension of the line to Mexikói út station, the line was diverted on a different route under the park. The old surface terminus at Széchényi fürdo was replaced by a new underground station on the same site, but Állatkert station was abandoned.The only remaining visible feature of the station and the railway it stood on is a bridge, which formerly crossed the metro line but now simply crosses a lawn. It is a very early example of a reinforced concrete bridge, designed by György Brüggemann and built by Róbert Wünsch.
