In 2013, the academy was featured in nationwide coverage for administering a creationist science quiz. The academy closed for the 2013-2014 school year due to lack of funding. The academy was founded by Jill and E.J. Bird in 2004, and governed by a board of directors. It was accredited by Association of Christian Schools International and had classes for students ranging from Pre-kindergarten to High School level.

Poinsett Bridge is the oldest bridge in South Carolina and perhaps in the entire southeastern United States. Named for Joel Roberts Poinsett, it was built in 1820 as part of the Old Buncombe Road from Columbia, South Carolina, to Saluda Mountain. The stone bridge, which includes a 14-foot (4.3 m) Gothic arch and stretches 130 feet (40 m) over Little Gap Creek, may have been designed by Robert Mills, architect of the Washington Monument. Though no longer in use, the bridge remains largely intact and is part of the 400-acre (161.9 ha) Poinsett Bridge Heritage Preserve. There is a nature trail a few hundred yards from the bridge. The bridge, about which ghost stories have been told for decades, is located off U.S. Highway 25 north of Greenville, South Carolina. The bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.

The John H. Goodwin House, also known as the Blythe-Goodwin-Hagood House is a historic structure located on South Carolina Highway 11 in Greenville County near Travelers Rest, South Carolina. The two-story farmhouse and the one-story store building located in front of the house are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The George Salmon House, also known as the C. Douglas Wilson Farm, is located near Travelers Rest, South Carolina on SC Highway 414, off of US Highway 25.A log house was initially built by George Salmon, a surveyor and one of the earliest settlers to the area, ca1784. Additions to the house transformed it into a two-story plantation plain style house on a brick foundation with a gable roof. In addition to the house, four other contributing properties are on the property including two multipurpose storage buildings, a chicken coop and a smokehouse.

The Cliffs Valley is a resort community and census-designated place (CDP) in Greenville County, South Carolina, United States. It was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census with a population of 736.The CDP is on the northern edge of Greenville County, extending north to the North Carolina border. U.S. Route 25 forms the western edge of the CDP; the highway leads south 21 miles (34 km) to Greenville and north 16 miles (26 km) to Hendersonville, North Carolina. The community is in the Blue Ridge Mountains and its foothills. 2,900-foot (880 m) Panther Mountain and 3,025-foot (922 m) Corbin Mountain are on the northern border of the CDP, separated by Panther Gap. 2,800-foot (850 m) Pruett Mountain extends south into the middle of the CDP. The community is drained by Terry Creek, which flows south to the North Saluda River just outside the CDP. The CDP is home to The Cliffs Valley Golf Course.

Travelers Rest is a city in Greenville County, South Carolina. The population was 7,788 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Greenville-Mauldin-Easley Metropolitan Statistical Area. Travelers Rest, the northernmost city in Greenville County, is located 10 miles north of Greenville and around 20 miles south of the North Carolina border. Furman University, a private liberal-arts university, was annexed into the city limits of Travelers Rest in April 2018 and North Greenville University, a private Christian institution, is located in nearby Tigerville.

WYCW (channel 62) is a television station licensed to Asheville, North Carolina, United States, serving Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina. It is owned by Nexstar Media Group alongside Spartanburg, South Carolina–licensed WSPA-TV (channel 7). The two stations share studios on International Drive (next to the I-26 and I-85 Business/Veterans Parkway interchange) in Spartanburg and a transmitter on Hogback Mountain in northeastern Greenville County, South Carolina, southwest of Tryon, North Carolina. This station began broadcasting in June 1986 as WASV-TV. When it was on the air, it aired religious programming or home shopping. It was off the air between 1991 and 1994 and again from January 1996 to October 1997. WASV-TV was acquired by Pappas Telecasting and, after constructing a new tower in North Carolina, returned to the air in October 1997 as an affiliate of UPN and The WB. WSPA-TV's then-owner, Spartan Communications, programmed WASV-TV under a local marketing agreement with Pappas. The WB affiliation had already been signed for by another local station beginning in 1999, and channel 62 became a sole UPN affiliate. Spartan Communications's successor, Media General, acquired channel 62 outright in January 2002 and launched a 10 p.m. local newscast. When UPN and The WB merged in 2006, WASV-TV became the CW affiliate and changed its call sign to WYCW. On August 1, 2026, The CW affiliation moved to sister station WSPA-TV as part of a broader programming shift, making WYCW an independent station. Since 2018, the two stations have been broadcast from the same transmitter in South Carolina.
