Douglas Wilson Farm, is located near Travelers Rest, South Carolina on SC Highway 414, off of US Highway 25.A log house was initially built by George Salmon, a surveyor and one of the earliest settlers to the area, ca1784. Additions to the house transformed it into a two-story plantation plain style house on a brick foundation with a gable roof. In addition to the house, four other contributing properties are on the property including two multipurpose storage buildings, a chicken coop and a smokehouse.

It was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census with a population of 736.The CDP is on the northern edge of Greenville County, extending north to the North Carolina border. U.S. Route 25 forms the western edge of the CDP; the highway leads south 21 miles (34 km) to Greenville and north 16 miles (26 km) to Hendersonville, North Carolina. The community is in the Blue Ridge Mountains and its foothills. 2,900-foot (880 m) Panther Mountain and 3,025-foot (922 m) Corbin Mountain are on the northern border of the CDP, separated by Panther Gap. 2,800-foot (850 m) Pruett Mountain extends south into the middle of the CDP. The community is drained by Terry Creek, which flows south to the North Saluda River just outside the CDP. The CDP is home to The Cliffs Valley Golf Course.

Gilreath's Mill (at times also known as Heller's Mill, Bruce's Mill, and Taylor's Mill) is located on South Carolina Highway 101, near the town of Greer, South Carolina. The 2+1⁄2-story mill which sits on stone pillars was likely built ca1814, however, records can only confirm its existence as far back as 1839. It is one of the few remaining original mills that once provided staple foods and provided a place for rural residents to congregate.The building, built by Joel Bruce, includes two gable-roof sheds that were added to the north end of the original building. The water wheel, which powered the mill, is located to the southwest of the building. The mill produced both cornmeal as well as flour.
