Sammamish River

The GTE Northwest Classic was a professional golf tournament in the Seattle area on the Senior PGA Tour. Played for ten seasons, from 1986 through 1995, its inaugural event was at Sahalee Country Club (now in Sammamish) and the last nine were at Inglewood Golf Club in Kenmore. The title sponsor was GTE Northwest, a local telephone operating company headquartered in Everett. Bruce Crampton was the only multiple winner, with victories at both venues; the only playoff was in 1994, won by Simon Hobday with a birdie on the third extra hole to defeat Jim Albus. The purse for the final edition in 1995 was $600,000, with a winner's share of $90,000, which was at the low end of the scale. The sponsors opted not to renew for 1996 and the event was discontinued.The senior tour returned to the Seattle area in 2005 with the Boeing Classic at TPC Snoqualmie Ridge in Snoqualmie.

Inglewood Golf Club is a private golf club in the northwest United States in Kenmore, Washington. Founded 104 years ago in 1919 and opened for play in July 1921, it is located at the north end of Lake Washington, northeast of Seattle. Inglewood was designed by A. Vernon "Mac" Macan, a leading golf course architect of the time. Born in Dublin, Ireland, in 1882, Macan was a highly educated man, attending Shrewsbury and studying law at Trinity College. In 1908, Macan emigrated to Canada, and was the architect for many golf courses in British Columbia and the northwestern U.S., including Royal Colwood, Broadmoor, Fircrest, Columbia Edgewater, Hillcrest, and Colwood National. Tour events held at Inglewood include the PGA Tour's Seattle Open (1936, 1963, 1965), and the GTE Northwest Classic (1987–1995) on the senior tour.

Kenmore is a city in King County, Washington, United States, along the northernmost shore of Lake Washington. It is a suburban commuter town at the mouth of the Sammamish River, 12 miles (19 km) northeast of downtown Seattle and 2 miles (3.2 km) west of Bothell. The population was 20,460 at the 2010 census. Kenmore Air Harbor is the largest seaplane-only passenger facility of its kind in the United States.Kenmore is connected to nearby areas by State Route 522 and the Burke-Gilman Trail, which both run east–west along the lakeshore. The city limits stretch north to the Snohomish County line and south to a border with Kirkland south of Saint Edward State Park and Bastyr University. Kenmore's official flower is the dahlia, bird the great blue heron, and evergreen the rhododendron.

The Harry Vanderbilt Wurdemann House, also known as the Wurdemann House, is a private home in Lake Forest Park, Washington. Built in 1914 and listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1990, it was one of the first houses in Lake Forest Park.

Swamp Creek is a tributary of the Sammamish River in Snohomish and King counties, in the U.S. state of Washington. It is also known as dxʷɬ(ə)q̓ab in Lushootseed, meaning "a wide place".Swamp Creek starts at Lake Stickney near Everett. It ends in Kenmore at the Sammamish River, which then flows into Lake Washington.

McAleer Creek is an urban creek approximately six miles long, flowing from Lake Ballinger in southern Snohomish County to Lake Washington. It drains an approximately 8.9-square-mile (23 km2) watershed. It is a salmon-bearing stream that also provides habitat to cutthroat trout, as well as watering a series of riparian areas, mostly in Lake Forest Park.McAleer Creek has the name of Hugh McAleer, a pioneer landowner.

Saint Edward Seminary (sometimes Saint Edward's Seminary) was an institution for developing Catholic priests in the US state of Washington. Dedicated to Saint Edward the Confessor and located in Kenmore, it operated for 46 years before closing in 1976. The seminary and most of its grounds now constitute Saint Edward State Park. The seminary was located on a 366 acres (148 ha; 0.572 sq mi) property purchased in the late 1920s. Building plans were scaled back in 1929 due to the Great Depression. In 1931, the seminary opened as a minor seminary; it became a major (college level) seminary in 1935. In 1958, Saint Thomas the Apostle Seminary opened as a major seminary on 50 acres of the site and St. Edward continued as a minor seminary. The Catholic Archdiocese of Seattle closed St. Edward in 1976 and sold it to the State of Washington in 1977. It became Saint Edward State Park in 1978. After St. Thomas closed, Bastyr University leased and later bought that campus. The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission entered into an agreement with Daniels Realty Development to completely restore the historic Seminary building. The grand opening of the new Lodge at Saint Edward Park as a hotel, spa and restaurant was May 7, 2021.

Town Center at Lake Forest Park (formerly Lake Forest Park Towne Centre) is a multi-purpose shopping center that also serves as the community hub for the city of Lake Forest Park, Washington. Built in 1964, the center is located on the eastern side of Lake Forest Park, on the western shore of Lake Washington in a suburb of Seattle on Bothell Way NE beside City Hall. The southeast side of the center abuts the Burke-Gilman Trail. Town Center at Lake Forest Park "is a true community center that draws a regional crowd and is home to several unique and organic local stores which collectively cater to the educated customer, thus serving as a daily destination. Friends of Third Place Commons offers over 1,200 community events throughout the calendar year at Lake Forest Park Towne Centre, attracting patrons from all over the Puget Sound region." The Third Place Commons is a non-profit organization that books community events through public donation.The center was renovated in 1995 to increase pedestrian traffic and since Madison Marquette's requisition in 2006, has been undergoing smaller renovations, including the addition of a Ross Dress for Less and a Planet Fitness which both opened in 2011.Town Center at Lake Forest Park is anchored by Third Place Books, Albertson's grocery store, Rite Aid, Ross Dress for Less, and Planet Fitness and features almost 250,000 square feet (23,000 m2) of gross leasable area on its 18 acres. Around 40 tenants are currently open and operating at Lake Forest Park Towne Centre. Along with the bookstore, Third Place Books has a food court and coffee stand.Third Place Books, a general interest bookseller, is one of the tenants of the center and serves as a community center for Lake Forest Park hosting free public events and other community activities. The bookstore provides access to print on demand books via the Espresso Book Machine.Each Sunday, starting in May and ending in October, the Third Place Commons Farmers Market is held in the LFPTC parking lot.

Saint Edward State Park is a 316-acre (128 ha)-park in Kenmore, Washington and Kirkland, Washington. It is part of the Washington State Park System. Before becoming a Catholic seminary and later a state park, the area was logged in the 19th century and again in the 1920s. A series of trails runs through the park for bicyclists and hikers. The forest canopy is primarily made up of the Coast Douglas-fir, Western Redcedar, Bigleaf Maple, Pacific Madrone and Western Hemlock. Its dense carpet includes many varieties of fern (mainly Western Sword Fern), shrub and moss. It is flanked on the west by an undeveloped beach on Lake Washington. The park surrounds the Saint Thomas Center, which houses Bastyr University.

Bastyr University is a private alternative medicine university with campuses in Kenmore, Washington, and San Diego, California. Programs include naturopathy, acupuncture, Traditional Asian medicine, nutrition, herbal medicine, ayurvedic medicine, psychology, and midwifery. Some of Bastyr's programs teach and research topics that are considered pseudoscience, quackery, and fake by the scientific and medical communities. Quackwatch, a group against health fraud, put Bastyr University on its list of "questionable organizations" as a school which is "accredited but not recommended".Bastyr University and similar naturopathic programs are not accredited as medical schools but as special programs that are overseen by a naturopathic council which is not required to be scientific. Bastyr's naturopathic program has been accused by critics of misrepresenting its medical rigor and its ability to train primary care clinicians.

Lake Forest Park is a suburban city in King County, Washington, United States, located northeast of Seattle. It was developed in the 20th century as a bedroom community with single-family housing on medium to large-sized lots. Less than 4% of the city's land is zoned commercial, largely concentrated in one location, and there are no industrial areas. The city is situated at the northwest end of Lake Washington along State Route 522, which provides connections to Seattle and Bothell. Lake Forest Park includes several parks and nature reserves, access to the Burke–Gilman Trail, and organized summer events. The population of the city was 12,598 at the 2010 census.

Northeast 130th Street Beach is a 60-foot-wide (18 m) public beach in Seattle on Lake Washington located immediately off the Burke-Gilman Trail at the eastern end of NE 130th Street in Lake City. The beach was a source of controversy when, in 2013, after 82 years of public access, a fence was put by the owners of the two adjoining properties after they discovered a legal technicality that gave them ownership of the segment.The City of Seattle threatened in 2015 to force purchase of the land under eminent domain. Condemnation proceedings resulted in a settlement, and in 2019, the beach was made an official city park and officially named NE 130th Street End. The case had attracted enough attention over the years that The Seattle Times treated its designation as a park as front page news.
