Balquhidder ( ; Scottish Gaelic: Both Chuidir [ˌpɔˈxutʲɪɾʲ] or Both Phuidir [ˌpɔˈfutʲɪɾʲ]) is a small village in Perthshire located 10 miles (16 km) north-west of Callander. It is administered by the Stirling council area of Scotland and is overlooked by the dramatic mountain terrain of the 'Braes of Balquhidder', at the head of Loch Voil. Balquhidder Glen is also popular for fishing, nature watching and walking.

Auchtubh is a hamlet in the Stirling council area of Scotland, less than 1 mile (2 kilometres) to the east of the village of Balquhidder. Auchtubh consisted of Croft's numbered 1 to 9 which were worked by Crofters raising sheep and cattle. The crofters helped each other with harvesting and other work. The last worked Croft was number 8 Auchtubh next to Coshnachie The crofter was Chrissie MacCrae who had sheep cows hens and geese. Chrissie had the Croft until her death in 1989. At Auchtubh there is a floodplain which when flooded after heavy rain, is known as "Loch Occasional".

Kingshouse was a railway station located at the hamlet of Kingshouse, Stirling where the road from Balquhidder joins the A84. The only building of note locally to the station was the Kingshouse Hotel. In 2013 it was refurbished and opened under new management as the Mhor 84 Hotel.

The River Balvaig (Scottish Gaelic: "Abhainn Balbhaig") is a short river, approximately 8 km (5.0 mi) long, draining from the head of Loch Voil near Balquhidder in Scotland and then passing southwards through the village of Strathyre before flowing into the northern end of Loch Lubnaig.

Balquhidder was a railway station around two miles south of Lochearnhead, Stirling (district). It was where the Callander and Oban Railway was joined by the Comrie, St Fillans & Lochearnhead Railway from Crieff.

Glen Ogle (Scottish Gaelic: Gleann Ogail) extends 7 miles north westwards from Lochearnhead to Lix Toll, where it opens into Glen Dochart. The Ogle Burn flows within the steep sides of the glen, from the Lochan Lairig Cheile at the glen's head. The military road, which can be seen from the modern road, was built in 1749 by Major William Caulfeild. It was used by the British Army in its efforts to pacify the Highlands after the Jacobite rising of 1745.

Strathyre was a railway station located at the head of Loch Lubnaig, Stirling, in Strathyre.

Strathyre (; from Scottish Gaelic: Srath Eadhair) is a district and settlement in the Stirling local government district of Scotland. It forms the south-eastern part of the parish of Balquhidder and was, prior to the 1973 reorganisation of local government, part of Perthshire. It is within the bounds of the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. In Gaelic, the district is Srath Eadhair and the village is An t-Iomaire Riabhach or an t-Iomaire Fada.

Loch Voil (Scottish Gaelic: Loch a' Bheothail) is a small freshwater loch that lies to the west of Balquhidder in the Stirling council area of Scotland. It is a short, narrow loch. It is separated from Loch Doine by fluvial deposits from the Monachyle Burn and is drained at its eastern end by the River Balvag at Balquhidder. The Loch can be reached by a small single track road from Balquhidder leading to Inverlochlarig.

Lochearnhead is a former railway station in the village of Lochearnhead in Perthshire. It opened in 1904 as part of the Comrie, St Fillans & Lochearnhead Railway, but closed in 1951. Since 1962, the station has been used as a Scout centre for youth adventurous activities.

Lochearnhead (Scottish Gaelic: Ceann Loch Èireann) is a village in Perthshire on the A84 Stirling to Crianlarich road at the foot of Glen Ogle, 14 miles (23 kilometres) north of the Highland Boundary Fault. It is situated at the western end of Loch Earn where the A85 road from Crieff meets the A84. Loch Earn is 317 feet (97 metres) above sea level, with the settlement running from its shores up to higher ground on the hills at the mouth of Glen Ogle. Lochearnhead lies within the Breadalbane area of the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park.

Benvane (Scottish Gaelic: Beinn Bhàn) is a mountain in the Trossachs, in Stirling council area, Scotland. It lies within Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park and the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, and the summit is on the western boundary of the Trossachs National Nature Reserve. It is 821 metres (2,694 ft) high, and is classified as a Corbett, being joined by a ridge to the neighbouring Corbett of Ben Ledi.Benvane may be climbed by several routes, which can be combined to make for a circular route. From the south the summit can be reached via the 6 km-long ridge that connects it to Ben Ledi: the bealach between the two peaks can be reached via Ben Ledi itself or directly: either from the Stank Glen on the west side of this ridge, ascending from the shores of Loch Lubaig; or from Brig o' Turk via the Glen Finglas reservoir and Glen Casaig. Brig o' Turk also serves as the start point for a route ascending directly to Benvane's summit via its south ridge. On the northern side of the hill there are also routes from Strathyre, and from Glen Buckie near Balquhidder via a route up the hill's north ridge.The Ben Ledi-Benvane ridge marks the boundary between West Strathyre estate (owned by Forestry and Land Scotland), and Glen Finglas Estate, which is owned by the Woodland Trust.
