North Cowton is a village and civil parish, located in Richmondshire, North Yorkshire, England. It is 8 miles (13 km) north-west of the county town of Northallerton.

Dalton Gates is a hamlet in the Richmondshire district of North Yorkshire, England. The hamlet was built up around the now disused railway station that formed part of the disbanded Richmond Line. The station building is now a residential property. The placename Dalton comes from Old English and means settlement in the dale; here it refers to the nearby Dalton-on-Tees and Gates refers to the gates that were used on the railway level crossing. There is evidence that prior to the arrival of the railway the area was known as Straggleton. Dalton Gates is now served by the number 72 bus between Darlington and Northallerton. Croft Circuit is situated about 0.5 miles (0.8 km) from Dalton Gates; it is one of the most important motor racing venues in the UK. Paddock Farm Water Gardens is situated in Dalton Gates.

Forest is a hamlet in North Yorkshire, England, near the town of Richmond. It is near the villages of Scorton and Bolton-on-Swale. The only public amenity in Forest is a red telephone box. Forest is not served by any public transport.

Moulton End is a hamlet in North Yorkshire, in England. The hamlet gradually built up around the now disused railway station formerly serving North Cowton. The station was part of the disbanded Eryholme-Richmond branch line, which also used to serve Catterick Garrison. The station building is now a residential property, the platform clock is still visible on the wall of the Station house. The Darlington-bound platform still survives, but it is heavily overgrown with trees and bushes. The Richmond platform has been incorporated into a boundary wall to Station House.

Moulton railway station was a railway station in what is now the Richmondshire district of North Yorkshire, England. It was situated near the village of North Cowton. Moulton was the Eryholme-Richmond branch line which was opened in 1846 by the York and Newcastle Railway Company. The line was closed for passengers in 1969 and completely a year later. Despite being only about a quarter of a mile from North Cowton the station was named after the village of Moulton some 3 miles (4.8 km) away. This was to avoid confusion with a now disused station on the East Coast Main Line named Cowton serving the nearby village of East Cowton. Moulton station house still survives, it is now used as a residential property, but the platform clock can still be seen on the wall. The Richmond bound platform now forms part of the boundary wall to station house. The Darlington-bound platform still stands intact, though it is heavily overgrown with trees, bushes and bramble thickets. The track bed is now used as an access road for a nearby smallholding, it is not officially recognised as a public right-of-way, though it has been used as a scenic footpath by local people for over 20 years.

Royal Air Force Croft or more simply RAF Croft is a former Royal Air Force station located 4.6 miles (7.4 km) south of Darlington, County Durham, England and 8 miles (13 km) north-east of Richmond, North Yorkshire. The site is also known locally as Croft Aerodrome or Neasham. Constructed at the same time as many other airfields, it was originally named RAF Dalton-on-Tees after the nearby village Dalton-on-Tees. However, it was quickly renamed RAF Croft (after Croft-on-Tees) after initial confusion with the also newly opened RAF Dalton near Thirsk, just 25 miles away. The airfield was opened in 1941 for use by the Royal Air Force (RAF) but by 1942 the aerodrome had been taken over by the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) for training as part of No. 6 Group RCAF. The station is now the site of Croft Circuit, a motor racing circuit which hosts various car championships including the British Touring Car Championship.

Croft Circuit is a motor racing circuit located near Dalton-on-Tees in North Yorkshire, England. The tarmac circuit is 2.127 mi (3.423 km) long and is based on the lands of an airfield, but has long since moved on from being a basic airfield circuit. The circuit holds meetings of the British Touring Car Championship, British Rallycross and Pickup Truck Racing race series.

Eryholme railway station, originally named as Dalton Junction, was a railway station located on the East Coast Main Line between Northallerton and Darlington in North Yorkshire, England. It was the point at which the now closed Eryholme-Richmond branch line diverged from the East Coast Main Line. Passing the site today passengers on the East Coast main Line would be hard pressed to pinpoint the location of Eryholme, as all signs of the station have been demolished. The station probably saw its greatest number of passengers during World War II as it was the drop off point for servicemen arriving at the nearby RAF Croft. After the war it was also used by railwaymen living in nearby cottages for which trains stopped there but were not advertised in the timetables. This arrangement continued until 1969 when services on the Richmond Branch were withdrawn.

A derailment of a night mail train from Scotland to London occurred on the North Eastern Railway when a tender axle suddenly fractured on 28 December 1869 near Dalton Junction, south of Darlington, England. There were only slight injuries among the staff, but the accident was a warning of the problem of premature axle failure.

Streetlam is a hamlet in the Hambleton District of North Yorkshire, England, located 6 miles (9.7 km) north-west of Northallerton. The population fluctuates around 25. Streetlam is situated in a largely flat area of farmland in the Vale of York, which is a low-lying area of ground that extends about 40 miles from north to south in between two hilly national parks to the west and the east. Streetlam is 174 miles (280 km) south of Edinburgh and is 240 miles (387 km) north of London. The hilly and low mountainous areas of land around Streetlam are called the Pennines and the North York Moors. The Pennines and North York Moors can be seen in the distance to the west and east of Streetlam respectively. The main local industry is farming; however, there are many people in Streetlam and the immediate surrounding area who base themselves locally and commute to work in neighbouring population centres including Northallerton, Darlington and Teesside.
