Rosshall is an area in the south-west of Glasgow, Scotland, within the Cardonald ward of Glasgow City Council. It has a fairly isolated location, with the White Cart Water forming a border to the south and east, the Paisley Canal Line railway to the north, and open fields to the west that form a short green belt between Glasgow and the large town of Paisley – the nearest building 500 yards (460 m) to the west, Rosshall Mains Farm, falls under Paisley administration rather than Glasgow.

The Levern Water, (Scottish Gaelic: Uisge Labharain) is a small river in East Renfrewshire and Glasgow, Scotland. It rises in the Long Loch, and flows generally north and east, past the towns of Neilston and Barrhead, for a total distance of 9 miles (14 km). It empties into the White Cart River. The Levern Water facilitated the socioeconomic growth of parts from East Renfrewshire by providing water power for cotton mills as well as homes.

Crookston (Scottish Gaelic: Baile Cruic, Scots: Cruixtoun) is a residential suburb on the southwestern edge of the city of Glasgow, Scotland.Two distinct and geographically separate neighbourhoods about 1 mile (1.6 km) apart on opposite sides of the White Cart Water are known by the Crookston name, owing to factors in their development. Both areas share the same main road (A736 Crookston Road) and fall within the same U.K. and Scottish Parliamentary constituencies (as of 2019 boundaries), but the northern area falls under the Cardonald ward for Glasgow City Council and is within the G52 postcode zone, while the southern area is in the Greater Pollok ward and the G53 postcode zone.

Crookston railway station is a railway station in Crookston, a district of Glasgow, Scotland. The station is managed by ScotRail and lies on the Paisley Canal Line which was reopened by British Rail, 41⁄2 miles (7 km) west of Glasgow Central.

Rosshall Academy is a secondary school in the Rosshall (Crookston) area of Glasgow, Scotland. The school was formed in August 1999 to merge Penilee Secondary School (Penilee) and Crookston Castle Secondary School (Pollok) and moved to a new building roughly equidistant between them on Crookston Road in 2002. It holds over 1,100 pupils. Rosshall Academy has five main feeder primary schools – Cardonald Primary, Craigton Primary, Crookston Castle Primary, Hillington Primary and Sandwood Primary, along with a part association with Mosspark Primary (Mosspark's catchment being split between Rosshall and Bellahouston Academy).

Roughmussel is a neighbourhood in the Scottish city of Glasgow. It is situated south of the River Clyde near to the city boundaries with East Renfrewshire to the south and Renfrewshire to the west. Named after a farm near Hurlet, it was developed as a small isolated council estate off Crookston Road, later extended towards Pollok with a few streets of private homes, between the 1950s and the 1970s. Since the expansion of Crookston southwards along the main road to meet Roughmussel in the early 21st century, the area is often simply referred to as Crookston. Barrhead Road, the other main thoroughfare in the area, features a row of local shops. Househill Park is to the south, through which the Levern Water flows, and another park with children's play area to the north-west adjoining new (2010s) housing at Raeswood. The land to the west of Roughmussel towards Paisley remains open green belt countryside and woodland.

Ralston, officially the St Mirren Training Ground, is St Mirren F.C.'s training centre, located at Ralston, Paisley, in Scotland. The complex houses the club's training and youth facilities. The complex is signposted off Glasgow Road, Paisley (A761), and sits beside Ralston Community Centre off Bathgo Avenue. The postcode for the complex is PA1 3EA.

Crookston Castle is a ruined medieval castle in the Pollok area of Glasgow, Scotland. It is located some 5 miles (8 km) south-west of the city centre, on a hill overlooking the Levern Water, just before its confluence with the White Cart Water. Crookston Castle was built by the Stewarts of Darnley around 1400, and is set within earthworks constructed in the 12th century. Once the property of the earls and dukes of Lennox, the castle was extensively repaired following a siege in 1544, and it is the only surviving medieval castle in Glasgow.

Hawkhead Castle was a castle existing in the 17th century, about 1 mile (1.6 km) east of Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland, south of the White Cart River.It may also be known as Hawkhead House. There are no remains.

Hurlet (or The Hurlet) is a small semi-rural district and former mining village, straddling the Renfrewshire-East Renfrewshire-Glasgow border near the town of Barrhead in the lowlands of Scotland. During the late twentieth century, most of the Hurlet was consigned to the history books when the Paisley-East Kilbride road, which cut through the village, was widened to become a dual carriageway. Roughmussel is to the northeast of The Hurlet. Househill Park is to the east, through which the Levern Water flows. The southwest of The Hurlet is St. Conval's Cemetery in Barrhead. Sir Isaac Holden, 1st Baronet was born here in 1807.

Cardonald Place Farm is a farmhouse on the banks of the White Cart Water river in Cardonald, Glasgow, Scotland. It was built in 1848 on (or close to) the site occupied by the former Cardonald Palace. Cardonald Castle was the seat of the Cardonald Stewart family in the 16th Century. Nothing remains of Cardonald Palace, although a stone from the palace has been set into the farmhouse above the door. The farmhouse is featured on the cover of the 1993 book "Old Cardonald Had A Farm" by John A. Innes.

Hawkhead (Scots: Hauchheid, Scottish Gaelic: Ceann an Dail) is an area near Paisley in Renfrewshire, Scotland. The village is on the Hawkhead Burn and White Cart Water, crossed via Hawkhead Bridge. It is near Dykebar, Hunterhill and Blackhall neighbourhoods and is the source of the name of Hawkhead railway station on the Paisley Canal Line, although the station is some distance to the north of the residential area, on the opposite side of a cleared industrial zone (formerly a BASF plant) and a large cemetery, also named Hawkhead.
