Stoke Damerel Church

Devonport High School for Boys is an 11–18 boys grammar school and academy in Plymouth, Devon, England. It has around 1,150 boys, and its catchment area includes southwest Devon and southeast Cornwall as well as Plymouth. Pupils are accepted on the basis of academic aptitude. The school catchment area draws boys from a wide area extending beyond Plymouth, with the numbers of boys being entitled to free school meals being well below average. The proportion of boys attending the school from minority ethnic groups is below the national average, although there are a number who speak English as an additional language.

Stoke, also referred to by its earlier name of Stoke Damerel, is an inner suburb of the city of Plymouth, Devon, England. In 1844, Stoke Damerel was described as a parish in Roborough hundred, adjoining the borough of Plymouth, and including Devonport within it. In 1914, Devonport and Plymouth amalgamated with Stonehouse, and the new town took the name of Plymouth. Stoke is now densely built up with family houses and bisected by the main railway line from Paddington to Penzance. The parish church is notable not only for its evolving architecture, but also its contents and historical connections. The area has been prosperous for several hundred years, and there are distinguished private houses dating to Georgian and Victorian times, several of which feature in Nikolaus Pevsner's South Devon. Stoke Damerel Primary School educates approximately 320 pupils of ages 4–11.Devonport High School for Boys on Paradise Road draws pupils from all over the city and parts of south-west Devon and south-east Cornwall.

Stonehouse Creek, in Plymouth (England), is also known as Stonehouse Lake (on many maps). The Creek was dominated by two military buildings, the Royal Naval Hospital and the Stoke Military Hospital, which faced each other.Also located in the creek are the modern shipbuilding sheds occupied by the luxury motor-yacht firm Princess Yachts who employ hundreds of local tradesmen to construct and fit out expensive vessels. The creek now ends at Stonehouse Bridge (for many years a toll bridge) and to the north east the wide river bed which led up past Millbridge to Pennycomequick and beyond to the bottom of Ford Park Cemetery, was reclaimed and infilled in 1973 to provide the playing fields of Victoria Park and rugby pitches for Devonport High School for Boys.

East Stonehouse was one of three towns that were amalgamated into modern-day Plymouth. West Stonehouse was a village that is within the current Mount Edgcumbe Country Park in Cornwall. It was destroyed by the French in 1350. The terminology used in this article refers to the settlement of East Stonehouse which is on the Devon side of the mouth of the Tamar estuary, and will be referred to as Stonehouse.

City College Plymouth is a tertiary institution and further education college in South West England offering a range of technical, professional and vocational qualifications, Apprenticeships, Access to Higher Education and Foundation Degree courses, plus professional and bespoke training to local employers. The college is a partner college of the University of Plymouth, who support their Foundation Degree provision. Originally the Plymouth and Devonport Technical College, which opened in 1897 in Paradise Road, it was relocated in new premises built on a former railway station site directly opposite at Kings Road, where it opened as the College of Further Education, Plymouth, in 1970. Later becoming the Plymouth College of Further Education, it was officially renamed on 1 January 2007.

Devonport Kings Road railway station was the London and South Western Railway station in Devonport, Devon, England. It opened in 1876 and closed in 1964. For the first 14 years it was a terminal station with trains to London departing eastwards, but from 1890 it became a through station with trains to London departing westwards.

The Royal Naval Hospital, Stonehouse was a medical facility for naval officers and other ranks at Stonehouse, Plymouth.

Millbridge is a small neighbourhood of Plymouth, on the boundary of what used to be the towns of Plymouth and Devonport, in the English county of Devon. What was originally a self-standing village (which has now been subsumed within the city) lies to the north of the toll bridge, originally built by Sir Piers Edgcumbe in 1525, that crossed what used to be the Deadlake or Stonehouse Creek, to the west of Pennycomequick, the south of Stoke village and to the east of Stoke Church. It derives its name from the old toll bridge (adjacent to a naval saw mill) across the creek between Eldad Hill and Molesworth Road, at one time the principal link between Plymouth and Devonport. The creek to the east of the bridge was filled in with material from the quarries at Cattedown and Oreston during the late 1890s and the ground created became a municipal park, Victoria Park, which was officially opened in 1903. The remainder of the creek to the west of Millbridge, up to Stonehouse Bridge and Pool, was filled in and by 1972 the whole area had been developed as rugby pitches. These pitches are often used by Devonport High School for Boys and the Old Boys RFC.

Ford is a Victorian-built area of Plymouth, Devon, England. It lies 1.6 miles (2.6 km) north-west of the city centre, between the suburbs of Milehouse and Keyham. Between 1890 and 1964 the area was served by Ford railway station.

Victoria Park is a park in Millbridge, Plymouth, England. It extends at the eastern end from the bowling green beneath what was once a railway viaduct to what is now the merging of Molesworth Road and Eldad Hill, and which once was a toll bridge, and an important thoroughfare between Devonport and Plymouth.

Stoke Damerel Community College is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in Stoke, Plymouth, England. Stoke Damerel Community College was formed after the closure of Penlee Secondary Modern in the late 1980s. The school has recently had major building and refurbishment work completed to improve its entrance and create larger, more modern open spaces. Work included "The Street", a large central corridor to help congestion and provide a social area for the students, an extended library with over a hundred flat screen computers, a larger and better equipped Sixth Form common room and sports facilities. The school is on a hill with panoramic views of Plymouth and admits pupils from 11 to 18. The sixth form offers A levels, AS levels, and BTEC qualifications. The school has around 750 computers. The school became an academy in 2011.
