Beekdaelen

Nuth (Dutch: [nʏt] ; Limburgish: Nut [ˈnʏt]) is a village and a former municipality in the province of Limburg, situated in the southern Netherlands. In January 2019, the municipality merged with Schinnen and Onderbanken to form Beekdaelen.The village of Nuth has 4,595 inhabitants (1 January 2021), and is with that the largest village of the municipality. The town hall of the municipality Nuth was also situated in the village Nuth. The other villages in the municipality were Hulsberg with 3972 inhabitants, Schimmert with 3184, Wijnandsrade with 1623 and Vaesrade with 997 inhabitants (data: 1-1-2021). The other population centres belong to one of the following villages.

Nuth is a railway station located in Nuth, Netherlands. The station was built in 1893 and opened in 1896. It is located on the Sittard–Herzogenrath railway. Train services are operated by Arriva.

Wijnandsrade (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈʋɛinɑntsˌraːdə]; Limburgish: Wienesrao [ˈwiːnəsʀɔː]) is a village in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is located in the municipality of Beekdaelen. It is notable for its castle and church and two ponds, which define the village's centre.

Tervoorst (Dutch pronunciation: [tɛrˈvoːrst]; Limburgish: Tervoeësj [tæʀˈvuəʃ]) is a hamlet in the municipality of Beekdaelen in the province of Limburg, the Netherlands. The hamlet contains approximately 105 houses, located in a linear pattern along the Voorsterstraat and the Horenweg, which run from the village of Nuth until the hamlet Brand. The Platsbeek river flows to the north of the settlement. In the south there is a hill supporting the nearby Hunnecum hamlet's windmill as well as houses situated on its slopes.

Grijzegrubben (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌɣrɛizəˈɣrʏbə(n)]; Limburgish: Griëzegröbbe [ˌɣʀiəzəˈɣʀœbə]) is a hamlet in the municipality of Beekdaelen in the province of Limburg, the Netherlands. The name Grijzegrubben contains the toponym Grubbe, which in Limburg often refers to a hollow way. The name was already in use in the year 1637, when Aleidis of Grijzegrubben leased some land to the nobleman Bartholomeus van Reymersbeeck. Archeologists found in Grijzegrubben in August 2002 the remains of a Roman farm or storehouse, originating from approximately the 2nd century. In September 1944, a tree with a Christian cross was accidentally destroyed by an American armoured car. Due to the cross and the preservation of Grijzegrubben during World War II, community members built a chapel at this spot in 1945. The chapel is still owned by the community. Grijzegrubben has place name signs. It was home to 229 people in 1840. Nowadays, it consists of about 100 houses.The Southern Limburg horse market is held each year in Grijzegrubben since 2005.

Laar (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈlaːr]; Limburgish: Laor [ˈlɔːʀ]) is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is located just to the south of the town Beekdaelen. The A76 motorway divides the hamlet in two parts: the largest part, to the west, is part of the municipality of Nuth; the eastern part is in municipality Heerlen. There are no place name signs and it consist of about 10 houses.

Alfa Brewery (Alfa Brouwerij) is a family-owned independent brewery located in Schinnen, the Netherlands. Alfa was started in 1870 by Joseph Meens and is one of the few independent breweries left in the Province of Limburg.

Terstraten (Dutch pronunciation: [tɛrˈstraːtə(n)]; Limburgish: Tersjtraote [tæʀˈʃtʀɔːtə]) is a hamlet in the municipality of Beekdaelen in the province of Limburg, the Netherlands. It is one of the so-called Bovengehuchten, or Upper Hamlets, of Beekdaelen. All the houses are situated along the street Terstraten, which runs from the neighboring hamlet Brand via a hollow way towards the Maastrichterweg. In between the houses is a little square with a Christian cross underneath a tree. The houses in Terstraten are officially preserved heritage. The hamlet is known as a painters' paradise, due to the many 18th-century farmhouses with timber framing. Between Terstraten and the hamlet Brand runs the stream Platsbeek. Terstraten was place name signs. In 1840, Terstraten and neighbouring Helle were home to 180 people. Nowadays, it consists of about 30 houses.

Brand (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈbrɑnt], Limburgish: [ˈbʀɑnt]) is a hamlet in the municipality of Beekdaelen in the province of Limburg, the Netherlands. It is one of the so-called Bovengehuchten, or Upper Hamlets, of Beekdaelen. Brand is located south of the stream Platsbeek. The hamlet consists of five houses along the Branterweg. This road connects the hamlets Tervoorst and Helle. Some houses, including a farm named Op genne Brant, are constructed with timber framing. Brand is often mistakenly regarded as part of the nearby hamlet Terstraten. Brand got its own town sign in 2003.

Vaesrade (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈvaːsˌraːdə]; Limburgish: Vaosje [ˈvɔːʃə]) is a village in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is located in the municipality of Beekdaelen. The village was first mentioned in 1139 as Wastrode. The etymology is unclear, but contrary to popular belief there is no relation to Servatius of Tongeren.The first church was built in 1856. In 1929, the St Servatius Church was built in expressionist style and has a square tower next to the entrance.In 1840, Vaesrade was home to 198 people. Vaesrade was a separate municipality until 1821, when it was merged with Nuth. In 2019, it became part of the municipality of Beekdaelen.

Helle (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɦɛlə]; Limburgish: G'n Hèl [ɣən ˈɦɛl]) is a hamlet in the municipality of Beekdaelen in the province of Limburg, the Netherlands. It is one of the so-called Bovengehuchten, or Upper Hamlets, of Beekdaelen. It is located between the village of Schimmert and the hamlet Terstraten. The name Helle probably originates from helde, or hill. This could be a reference to the many hills and hollow ways near the hamlet. South of Helle flows the stream Platsbeek through a varied landscape of forest, grassland and puddles. It used to have place name signs, but they have removed the signs after 2005. Helle was home to 180 people in 1840. Nowadays, it consists of about 10 houses.
