Alfa Brewery (Alfa Brouwerij) is a family-owned independent brewery located in Schinnen, the Netherlands. Alfa was started in 1870 by Joseph Meens and is one of the few independent breweries left in the Province of Limburg.

Laar (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈlaːr]; Limburgish: Laor [ˈlɔːʀ]) is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is located just to the south of the town Beekdaelen. The A76 motorway divides the hamlet in two parts: the largest part, to the west, is part of the municipality of Nuth; the eastern part is in municipality Heerlen. There are no place name signs and it consist of about 10 houses.

Amstenrade is a village in the municipality of Beekdaelen, in the Netherlands. It is located about 7 km northwest of Heerlen. The Amstenrade Castle is located in the village.

Oirsbeek is a village in the southeast of the Netherlands, part of the municipality of Beekdaelen. Between 1839 and 1982, Oirsbeek was a separate municipality. The Sint Lambertuskerk, a Roman Catholic Church, was built in 1951 by Frits Peutz on the remains of two older churches: the original church built in 1514 and a second church built in 1830. It is unknown where the name Oirsbeek originates from. It is certain that the name has to do with the creek ("beek" is Dutch for creek) that used to flow through the village. "Oir" could come from "Oer" (meaning iron-rich dirt) which is found in the area. The creek was called "vloot" by people from Oirsbeek in the past. Currently it runs through a tube in the ground under the "Grachtstraat". From there it flows in the direction of Wolfhagen, part of the village of Schinnen. Oirsbeek used to be one of 4 suburbs, "Gracht", "Klein-Doenrade", "Oirsbeek" and "Oppeven".

Hoensbroek (Limburgish: Gebrook) is a Dutch town in the municipality of Heerlen. It is situated in the southeast of Limburg, a province in the southeast of the Netherlands. Until 1982, Hoensbroek was a separate municipality. Hoensbroek is known for its medieval castle, Kasteel Hoensbroek, named after Knight Hoen, a member of the Hoen Family. It dates from around 1250. Hoensbroek is also known for the fair on Ascension Day (Hemelvaartsdag). The fair brings as many as 100,000 people to the town, every year. In medieval times, the town was known under the name of Gebrook, meaning as much as "Swampy Landscape", and belonged to the Family Hoen. Their family name eventually mingled with the original one, resulting in the name Hoensbroeck for the location and Van Hoensbroeck as the family name. The spoken dialect, Gerbrooker Plat, refers to the ancient name of Gebrook.

Nuth (Dutch: [nʏt] ; Limburgish: Nut [ˈnʏt]) is a village and a former municipality in the province of Limburg, situated in the southern Netherlands. In January 2019, the municipality merged with Schinnen and Onderbanken to form Beekdaelen.The village of Nuth has 4,595 inhabitants (1 January 2021), and is with that the largest village of the municipality. The town hall of the municipality Nuth was also situated in the village Nuth. The other villages in the municipality were Hulsberg with 3972 inhabitants, Schimmert with 3184, Wijnandsrade with 1623 and Vaesrade with 997 inhabitants (data: 1-1-2021). The other population centres belong to one of the following villages.

Beekdaelen (Dutch: [beːɡˈdaːlə(n)] ; Limburgish: Baekdale [bɛːɡˈdaːlə]) is a municipality in the province of Limburg, situated in the southern Netherlands. It was formed as a merger of Nuth, Onderbanken and Schinnen.Beekdaelen has 35,853 inhabitants. It does not have a capital. The town hall of the municipality is currently situated in the village Nuth, which is the biggest population centre in the municipality with 6,520 inhabitants. The other fourteen villages in the municipality are Amstenrade with 2,670 inhabitants, Bingelrade with 796 inhabitants, Doenrade with 1,122 inhabitants, Hulsberg with 3,954 inhabitants, Jabeek with 752 inhabitants, Merkelbeek with 1,564 inhabitants, Oirsbeek with 3,733 inhabitants, Puth with 2,004 inhabitants, Schimmert with 3,236 inhabitants, Schinnen with 2,692 inhabitants, Schinveld with 4,629 inhabitants, Sweikhuizen with 690 inhabitants, and Wijnandsrade with 1,631 inhabitants. Schinnen (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈsxɪnə(n)] ; Limburgish: Sjènne [ˈʃɛnə]) is a village and a former municipality in the province of Limburg, the Netherlands. It is home to US Army Garrison Schinnen, a support base for US personnel assigned to nearby Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum. It is also the location of Alfa Brewery, the only brewery in the Netherlands that uses an officially certified underground spring. In 2019, it merged with Nuth and Onderbanken to form Beekdaelen.

Weustenrade is a hamlet in the municipality of Voerendaal of the province Limburg, Netherlands. It is located near Hoensbroek, Voerendaal and Klimmen. The village was first mentioned in 1420 as Woestenroede, and means "desolate cultivated forest". It was home to 105 people in 1840.There are still several old seventeenth-century houses, among which the 'oliemolen' (oilmill).
