Jalan M.H. Thamrin or Jalan Thamrin (M.H. Thamrin Road or Thamrin Road) is a major thoroughfare in Jakarta, Indonesia. The road is located at the center of Jakarta, running from the north end of Jalan Jenderal Sudirman at West Flood Canal at the south end to the roundabout near Arjuna Wijaya Statue Jakarta at the north end. Developed in the 1950s, the road was a landmark of post-colonial Indonesia and continues to have a prominent importance in Jakarta.

On 14 January 2016, multiple explosions and gunfire were reported near the Sarinah shopping mall in central Jakarta, Indonesia, at the intersection of Jalan Kyai Haji Wahid Hasyim and Jalan MH Thamrin. One blast went off in a Burger King restaurant outside the mall. The attack occurred near a United Nations (UN) information centre, as well as luxury hotels and foreign embassies. The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) confirmed that a Dutch UN official was seriously injured in the attacks. It was reported an armed stand-off took place on the fourth level of the Menara Cakrawala (Skyline Building) on Jalan MH Thamrin. At least eight people—four attackers and four civilians (three Indonesians and an Algerian-Canadian)—were killed, and 23 others were injured due to the attack. The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) claimed responsibility.

Indonesia 1 Tower (Indonesian: Indonesia Satu Tower) is an under-construction twin towers consisting of north and south towers at Jalan M.H. Thamrin in Central Jakarta, Indonesia. After completion, this will be the tallest twin towers in Indonesia. It is designed by Mercurio Design Lab. The towers will have offices, stores, condominiums and service apartments. North Tower with height 303 meters and south tower 306 meters . Construction of the tower is expected to be finished by 2021. South Tower is an office building while North Tower is a multi functional building that includes offices, retail space, and service apartments. Pan Pacific Serviced Suites will occupy levels 47 to 58 in the North Tower of Indonesia I.It will be connected by tunnel to Bundaran Hotel Indonesia station of Jakarta MRT.Officially launched via Press Conference in Jakarta, 29 August 2019 at Bromo Ballroom, Grand Hyatt Jakarta The construction was halted in 19 April 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic. At the end of first quarter in 2022, Indonesian media conglomerate, Media Group acquired the two towers from China-Sonangol International.Ltd. after the cancellation of joint venture between the two. As of October 2022, the construction is ongoing for a completion date in 2024.

Plaza Indonesia (originally Plaza Indonesia Shopping Center) is a shopping mall located at Jalan M.H. Thamrin, Central Jakarta, Indonesia. The mall is part of the Plaza Indonesia Complex, which is a mixed development complex often referred to as "PI". Plaza Indonesia opened in 1990. It is located at the corner of one of the landmarks of Jakarta, The Selamat Datang (Welcome) Monument.

Bundaran HI Station is a rapid transit station on the North-South Line of the Jakarta MRT in Central Jakarta, Jakarta, Indonesia. Located nearby the Hotel Indonesia (HI) Roundabout (Indonesian: Bundaran Hotel Indonesia (HI)), it is currently the terminus of the North-South Line, as the phase 2 construction of the line is underway.

Selamat Datang Monument (Selamat Datang is Indonesian for "Welcome"), also known as the Monumen Bundaran HI or Monumen Bunderan HI ( for 'Hotel Indonesia roundabout'), is a monument located in Central Jakarta, Indonesia. Completed in 1962 by sculptor Edhi Sunarso, the Selamat Datang Monument is one of the historic landmarks of Jakarta.

Kempinski Residences, Jakarta is a residential skyscraper at Jalan M.H. Thamrin, Central Jakarta, Indonesia. The tower has 57 level above the floor and 215 meters tall. The building is a residential facility, managed by Kempinski. The building is connected to Grand Indonesia Shopping Town and Hotel Indonesia.

Jalan Jaksa (abbreviated as Jl. Jaksa) is a short street approximately 400 meters long at Menteng subdistrict in Central Jakarta, Indonesia. It is located about 1 km south of the national museum, Monas and west of the Gondangdia railway station. The street connects Jalan KH Wahid Hasyim to Jalan Kebon Sirih. The six-meter-wide road offers tourists the opportunity to get cheap accommodation, and used to be a hub for nightlife, however, for several years now the nightlife scene here has dwindled with tourists and locals gravitating towards newer areas. It was designed as the main choice of foreign as well as domestic backpackers who visited Jakarta until around 2016.

North Jakarta (Indonesian: Jakarta Utara; Betawi: Jakarte Belilir) is one of the five administrative cities (kota administrasi) which form Special Capital Region of Jakarta, Indonesia. North Jakarta is not self-governed and does not have a city council, hence it is not classified as a proper municipality. It contains the entire coastal area within the Jakarta Special District. In North Jakarta, an area at the estuary of Ciliwung river was the main port for the kingdom of Tarumanegara, which later grew to become Jakarta. Many historic sites and artefacts of Jakarta can be found in North Jakarta. Both ports of Tanjung Priok and historic Sunda Kelapa are located in the city. The city, which covers an area of 139.99 km2, had 1,645,659 inhabitants at the 2010 census and 1,778,981 at the 2020 census. It has its administrative centre in Tanjung Priok. North Jakarta contains some of Jakarta's original natural mangrove forests. As the city has developed, some of this mangrove forest was converted into urban areas. However, a reforestation project aimed at planting mangroves within an area of 400 hectares was enacted in 2011 and was scheduled to be finished in 2012. The main goal of the project was to minimize abrasion in the coastal area, especially around the Pantai Indah Kapuk area.North Jakarta is bounded by Java Sea to the north; Bekasi to the east; West Jakarta, Central Jakarta and East Jakarta to the south; and Tangerang to the west.

Central Jakarta contains a number of large international hotels and major landmarks such as Hotel Indonesia.

Grand Indonesia (previously called Grand Indonesia Shopping Town until 2016) is an integrated multipurpose complex at Thamrin Road in Central Jakarta, Indonesia. The 640,000 m2 (6,900,000 sq ft) complex consists of a huge shopping mall, office tower Menara BCA (BCA Tower), high end serviced residential tower Kempinski Residences and the five-star all-suite Hotel Indonesia Kempinski. It is located near the Selamat Datang Monument. In January 2017, Forbes recognized Grand Indonesia as one of the top five shopping malls in Jakarta.
