U. S. B. Dale's Market, also known as B & S Discount Foods, is a historic commercial building located near Morganton, Burke County, North Carolina. It was built about 1900 as a neighborhood grocery store for the Grant Dale community. It is a one-story, rectangular, flat-roofed, brick building with a stepped parapet. It is a rare intact example of a rural community store.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

Hunting Creek Railroad Bridge is a historic stone railroad bridge located at Morganton, Burke County, North Carolina. It was built about 1860, and is a two-span, stone arch bridge. It measures 130 feet long and stands about 24 feet above the creek. It was replaced by another bridge by at least 1890.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

Robert L. Patton High School commonly referred to as "Patton High School", is a public high school in Morganton, North Carolina. The school opened in 2007. The school mascot is a panther, with the school colors being red, black, and white. Pattons rival school is Freedom High School, which is also in Morganton. The schools are 5.9 miles apart. Patton competes in athletics in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, and is a 2A school. The Panthers are currently a member of the Northwest Foothills Conference for sports, along with two other Burke county schools, East Burke and Draughn.

Dunavant Cotton Manufacturing Company, also known as Alpine Cotton Mill No. 1, is a historic cotton mill located at Morganton, Burke County, North Carolina. It is a two-story, brick-clad, side gable-roofed building. The original section was built in 1888–1910, with additions and expansions through 1966. The additions to the building, made in the mid to late 1960s were removed in 2012 to reveal the original 1888-1910 mill building. It is the oldest cotton textile mill in Morganton, and was in use as a cotton textile mill until 1949.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.

They were built between about 1885 and 1936 and includes representative examples of Colonial Revival, Bungalow / American Craftsman, and Late Victorian style architecture.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

Grace Episcopal Church is a parish of the Episcopal Diocese of Western North Carolina in Morganton, North Carolina. Founded in 1845, property was procured at the corner of King Street and Meeting Street, and the original structure was constructed in 1846 primarily from timber, seating approximately 50 people. The current structure was constructed in 1896 from local granite and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.Grace has enjoyed a rich history of mission and outreach. At the turn of the 20th century, Grace Episcopal Church clergy and members founded five additional Episcopal mission congregations in Burke County, North Carolina, most of which included a chapel and school. Two of the original five mission congregations survive today as parishes: St. Mary & St. Stephen Episcopal Church in Morganton and St. Paul's Episcopal Church at Lake James. In 1906, Grace Episcopal Church founded Grace Hospital, originally located adjacent to the existing church building on King Street. Today, Grace Hospital is part of the Blue Ridge Healthcare System. From there, Grace members went on to start the first Red Cross chapter in Burke County, the first hospice in Burke County, and the first Boy Scouts troop for deaf scouts in the United States.Today, Grace continues its commitment to serving the community in many ways. In particular, its extensive backpack ministry, providing more than 200 10-pound backpacks of food for children and families at a local elementary school. Grace also offers grants to local non-profit service-oriented organizations through the Grace Foundation, founded in 1969, and disbursing between $70,000 and $80,000 per year.Grace Episcopal Church's current rector is The Rev. Marshall A. Jolly, who was called in May 2015. The parish deacon is The Rev. Deacon Mike Jenkins.

Western Piedmont Community College is a public community college in Morganton, North Carolina. It was chartered on April 2, 1964, as a member of the North Carolina Community College System. The college is the home of the Sam J. Ervin Library, dedicated to the veteran U.S. senator and Morganton native, who chaired the Senate Watergate hearings in 1973. The school's nickname is the Pioneers.

Notable buildings include the Grace Episcopal Church (c. 1893), Morganton Library (c. 1935), and Works Progress Administration constructed nurses' home.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.
