Big Bend is the southernmost neighbourhood in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada, located on the watershed of the Fraser River. The neighbourhood owes its name to the large bend that the river forms on its North Arm. Big Bend comprises all of Burnaby south of Marine Drive.

Dominion Herbal College is North America's oldest school of herbal medicine founded in 1926 in British Columbia, Canada by Dr. Herbert Nowell. Dominion Herbal College is a post-secondary institution accredited by the Private Career Training Institutions Agency (PCTIA) offering online and distance education programs.

Don Island is a small uninhabited island in the Fraser River within metropolitan Vancouver, British Columbia, located just east of Annacis Island. While currently devoid of any permanent settlement, between 1901 and the 1940s Don Island and its neighbor Lion Island were home to over 400 Japanese Canadians, who were mainly employed at the Ewen Cannery, which was one of the largest salmon canneries in British Columbia.They were known to the Japanese Canadians as Oikawa-Jima and Sato-Jima. At one point, a 600ft long wharf stood facing the main channel.The majority of these workers left after 1924, to pursue work in other areas of the city. A few families remained throughout the 1930s, but they were all forcibly removed in 1942 and sent to internment camps. The islands have remained uninhabited since, with the rundown ruins of the cannery, the wharf and other buildings all that remains. In 2013, students from SFU conducted a research field-study on Don and Lion Islands, studying the remains of various buildings used by workers at the Ewen Cannery, as well as a Japanese fishing camp.

Burnaby South Secondary is a public high school in Burnaby, British Columbia, and it serves the South Slope, Burnaby neighbourhood, and Southern Burnaby. It is one of the eight high schools within School District 41 Burnaby. Burnaby South currently contains approximately 1700 students.

The British Columbia School for the Deaf is a provincial school in Burnaby, British Columbia with day programs serving deaf and hard-of-hearing students. The school teaches secondary students. It shares a campus with Burnaby South Secondary School, for hearing students, serving around 50 students.

South Slope, sometimes referred to as Southern Burnaby, is a mainly single-family neighborhood in Burnaby in British Columbia, Canada, just southeast of Metrotown. It borders Suncrest, an all single-family home neighbourhood to the west, and goes as far east as Edmonds. Although the northern boundary of South Slope is Rumble Street, many residents north of the street consider themselves living in South Slope, including South Slope Elementary, and Burnaby South Secondary School. The neighbourhood gets its name from the steep slope it is located on. The neighbourhood is one of the oldest parts of the city, which can be seen be seen in Nelson Elementary, which is over a hundred years old, and dozens of Heritage Homes.

CJVB (1470 kHz) is a radio station in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, which broadcasts multilingual programming. Owned by the Fairchild Group, the station with a power of 50,000 watts, using two different directional patterns for daytime and nighttime operation. CJVB's studios and transmitter are located in Richmond. Operation began as a 10,000-watt station at the same transmitter site in 1972, with a power increase to 50 kW in 1979. The station was originally licensed to Jan van Bruchem, whose initials give CJVB its call letters. CJVB was the third multicultural radio station in Canada, following CHIN in Toronto and CFMB in Montreal. It was also the first radio station in the Vancouver area to broadcast in AM stereo. CJVB airs primarily Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin) programming from Monday through Saturday. On Sunday, the station airs a selection of programs in other languages.

Royal Oak is an elevated station on the Expo Line of Metro Vancouver's SkyTrain rapid transit system. The station is located at the intersection of Beresford Street and Royal Oak Avenue in Burnaby, British Columbia, a short walk south of Kingsway and Imperial Avenue.

Edmonds is an at-grade station on the Expo Line of Metro Vancouver's SkyTrain rapid transit system. The station is located southwest of the intersection of Griffiths Drive and 18th Avenue, near Edmonds Street, south of Kingsway in the Edmonds area of Burnaby, British Columbia. SkyTrain's maintenance and storage facility serving both the Expo and Millennium lines is one block east of this station, linked to and from the main guideway by multiple switch tracks.

Annacis Island is a narrow island under the jurisdiction of City of Delta in Lower Mainland, British Columbia, located just downstream of the south arm of the Fraser River bifurcation between Lulu Island to the north and the Delta peninsula to the south. The island is now mostly an industrial zone, and contains one of Metro Vancouver's secondary wastewater treatment plants, the Annacis Island Wastewater Treatment Plant. The island is also home to the British Columbia Institute of Technology's Annacis Island campus.The southern part of the island is connected to Delta via the Alex Fraser Bridge, which is part of Highway 91. Connections northward to Richmond and New Westminster are via smaller bridges on Highway 91. At the eastern end of the island there is also the Annacis Island Swing Bridge which connects the island to the Queensborough neighborhood of New Westminster on the eastern end of Lulu Island. Annacis Island is served by a public bus that connects to 22nd Street Station in New Westminster. The wider part of the Fraser River south of the island is known as Annieville Channel (upstream) and City Reach (downstream), while the more narrow channel north of the island is Annacis Channel. The eastern (upstream) tip of the island is known as Shoal Point, and the western (downstream) tip as Purfleet Point.

22nd Street is an elevated station on the Expo Line of Metro Vancouver's SkyTrain rapid transit system. It is located on 7th Avenue and 22nd Street in the Connaught Heights neighbourhood of New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada. Due to its proximity to the Queensborough interchange, where the Queensborough Bridge meets with Stewardson and Marine Ways, the station serves as a hub for regional bus routes.
