Thiruverkadu (Tamil: [ திருவேற்காடு ]; literally 'a forest of holy herbs and roots') is a Western suburb of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It comes under Thiruvallur district administration. It is famous for its Devi Karumariamman Temple. There is also Vedapureeswarar Temple in Thiruverkadu, where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi are seen in their wedding pose inside the sanctum sanctorum. As of 2011, the town had a population of 62,289. It is a town with rich cultural heritage and also a fast-growing areas in the city. Thiruverkadu Municipality comes under Avadi Municipal Corporation. Thiruverkadu town was constituted as a Municipality from 2004 onwards, Thiruverkadu is functioning as a grade III Municipality with 28.50 Sq.Km in extent. This town consists of four revenue villages namely Thiruverkadu, Numbal, Sundarasozhapuram, Veeraragavapuram, Ayanambakkam, Perumalagaram and Koladi. The town is divided into 18 wards. Thiruverkadu town is located at a distance of 16 Kms.west of Chennai City. This lies on Chennai-Bangalore National Highway Road and Chennai Thirupathi Trunk road. It is situated 13 9” North latitude and 79 55” E longitude. The present extent of this town is 10.75 Sq.Kms.

Vedapureeswarar Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to the deity Shiva, located in Thiruverkadu, a Municipality in Tiruvallur district in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Shiva is worshipped as Vedapureeswarar, and is represented by the lingam. His consort Parvati is depicted as Balambigai. The presiding deity is revered in the 7th century Tamil Saiva canonical work, the Tevaram, written by Tamil saint poets known as the Nayanars and classified as Paadal Petra Sthalam. The temple complex covers two acres and it houses two gateway towers known as gopurams, each facing the Vedapureeswarar and Balambigai shrine. The temple has a number of shrines, with those of Vedapureeswarar and his consort Balambigai being the most prominent. The temple has six daily rituals at various times from 6:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and four yearly festivals on its calendar. The Brahmotsavam festival is celebrated during the day of the Magam (February - March) is the most prominent festival. The original complex is believed to have been built before 7th century CE by the Cholas, the temple was reconstructed in 1973 under the technical direction of G. Yegneswaran with the blessings of Sri Swamiji Ramadoss. In modern times, the temple is maintained and administered by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu.

The S.A. Engineering College (Tamil: எஸ்.ஏ.பொறியியல் கல்லூரி) is an autonomous engineering college in Veeraraghavapuram near Thiruverkadu, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. The college was awarded ISO 9001:2008 certificate for academic standard by TUV. The college is accredited by NBA and NAAC with 'A' grade. The Dharma Naidu Educational and Charitable Trust started functioning under the leadership of D. Sudharssanam, a former M.L.A. The S.A. Engineering College was established in the Academic Year 1998–99 with the approval of the AICTE and affiliation with the University of Madras and the general policy of the Government of Tamil Nadu to give high priority to technical education.
