Pentre Bychan

Rhos railway station was a station in Rhosllannerchrugog, Wrexham, Wales on the Shrewsbury and Chester Railway. It was located in a remote spot almost a mile to the east of Rhosllannerchrugog, to the south of a road overbridge which carried Corkscrew Lane, in Pentre Bychan, over the line. The station was opened on 14 October 1848 and closed in March 1855. No trace of this station remains today.It is not to be confused with another station by the same name which was actually in the village of Rhosllannerchrugog, on the Rhos Branch line from Wrexham through Legacy.

Bonc yr Hafod (Welsh for 'Hafod Bank') is a country park, on the former site of Hafod Colliery, near Johnstown and Pentre Bychan in Wrexham County Borough, Wales. The country park is centred on a former spoil tip hill, known locally as "Picnic Mountain" (Welsh: Mynydd Picnic), rising up 150 metres (490 ft). The country park is 90 acres (0.36 km2) in size of mainly woodlands and grasslands. The park is home to one of the largest community woodlands in North East Wales.

Rhostyllen Football Club is a Welsh football club from Rhostyllen in Wrexham County Borough. The club was founded in 2015 and they currently play in the North East Wales Football League Premier Division, which is at tier four of the Welsh football pyramid.

Bersham Colliery was a large coal mine located near Rhostyllen in Wrexham County Borough, Wales. The mine accessed seams found in the Denbighshire Coalfield.

Bersham (Welsh: Y Bers; standardised: Bers) is a village in Wrexham County Borough, Wales, that lies next to the River Clywedog, and is in the community of Esclusham. Bersham was historically a major industrial centre of the area, but despite this the village still retains a rural feeling.

Johnstown is a village (and former electoral ward) in Wrexham County Borough, Wales, and forms part of the old coal mining community of Rhosllannerchrugog. It is thought to have been named after John Bury, a mid 19th century member of Wrexham's first Town Council, who built a number of houses in the area.The disused coal mine at Hafod is situated to the east of the village and the mine's former coal tip has now been converted to a country park, Bonc yr Hafod. The nearby clay quarry was used as a landfill site for waste from Liverpool. It now takes waste from anywhere after the transfer to Cory's. The village has approximately 4,000 inhabitants, living in 1,300 households which are split into three main areas, the Moreton Estate, Nant Parc and the older part of the village (taken from police figures). The ward population at the 2011 census was 3,266.Johnstown is a located on the historic earth work of Offa's Dyke. There are two schools in Johnstown: Johnstown Infants School and Johnstown Junior School. There are three public houses in Johnstown; the New Inn; the Moreton Inn and the Grapes In April 2012, a planning application was submitted by developers Capital & Centric Plc for a new supermarket on the disused Griflex industrial unit, potentially creating 300 jobs for the area.

Rhostyllen (pronounced [r̥ɔsˈtəɬən], Ross-tuth-l'n) was a minor railway station of the Great Western Railway, located on the Rhos Branch just off the Shrewsbury to Chester Line a couple of miles south of Wrexham in Wales. Rhostyllen was a mining area and the rail-served Bersham Colliery was just to the south. According to the Official Handbook of Stations the following classes of traffic were being handled at this station in 1956: G & P† and there was no crane. It is curious that parcels and miscellaneous traffic was still being handled here at that date, twenty five years after the station had closed to passengers.

Johnstown & Hafod was a minor station on the Great Western Railway's London to Birkenhead main line. Although the station is gone the railway is still open today as part of the Shrewsbury to Chester Line. The station was situated on the extreme east side of Johnstown and served both there and the adjoining settlement of Rhosllannerchrugog (pron: Ross-thlanner-kri-gog) in Wales.

Fennant Road Halt railway station served the Fennant Road area of Ponciau, a village that lies within the community of Rhosllanerchrugog. Opened in 1905 it had closed by 1915, partly as a result of WWI and also through road transport competition. On 1 August 1861 the GWR had opened a mineral branch from just north of Ruabon to serve the blast furnaces of the iron works at Aberderfyn and Ponciau. This line was extended to Legacy on 27 August 1876.

Bersham Ironworks were large ironworks at Bersham, near Wrexham, Wales. They are most famous for being the original working site of John Wilkinson. They were also the first site in the world to use a new way of boring holes in cannon and steam engine cylinders.

The Clywedog Trail is a 9-mile (14 km) footpath close to Wrexham in Wales. Starting at the Minera Lead Mines (53.0512°N 3.0811°W / 53.0512; -3.0811 (Clywedog Trail, Minera Lead Mines trailhead)) and running to King's Mills (53.0358°N 2.9750°W / 53.0358; -2.9750 (Clywedog Trail, King's Mills trailhead)), it follows the course of the River Clywedog. It is a haven for walking, relaxation and enjoying the peace of the wildlife. The Clywedog region played a role in the Industrial Revolution; ironmaking began in 1670, smelting iron ore with coke began in 1721 and John Wilkinson set up shop in 1761. For many years the area was one of the most important iron manufacturing centres in the world.
