Highland Presbyterian Church (Kentucky)

The Episcopal Church of the Advent is located in Louisville, Kentucky. The congregation began as a Sunday school of Louisville's Christ Church Cathedral in 1870 which met in a store at Broadway and Baxter Avenue and was called "Sunday School of the Advent". In 1872 it moved to Rubel Avenue near Broadway, and was formally organized as a congregation in 1874.As the Cherokee Triangle neighborhood of Louisville was being subdivided, the creation of East Broadway (soon renamed Cherokee Parkway) cut off a triangle of land that belong to Cave Hill Cemetery, which rendered it useless for burials in the carefully planned facility, so the cemetery company sold the land to the Church of the Advent.The congregation hired Frederick C. Withers of New York to construct the church building, and the cornerstone was laid in 1887. The church was built in a late Victorian style, with limestone walls, a slate roof, a series of gables and a tower. The first service was held on April 15, 1888, two Sundays after Easter that year.When Cherokee Triangle was added to the National Register of Historic Places as a district, the Church of the Advent was described in the listing document as "the architectural and historical keystone of the district".The Rev. Dr. Timothy Mitchell, a Louisville native, was installed as Rector in May 2008.

Eastern Cemetery is a 28-acre cemetery located at 641 Baxter Avenue in Louisville, Kentucky, United States, abutting Cave Hill Cemetery. It contains about 16,000 graves, though documentation for about 138,000 bodies. This imbalance is due to the cemetery formerly being a site for mass paupers' graves and from the reuse of grave sites.

The Phoenix Hill Tavern was a live music venue located in Phoenix Hill, Louisville, Kentucky. It won LEO Weekly's "Best of Louisville" award for eight consecutive years. Opened in 1976, the club closed in 2015, and was demolished in 2017. The tavern began as one room in a rundown warehouse, eventually expanding to 25,000-square-foot facility. Phoenix Hill Tavern hosted famous artists from many different genres, including Meat Loaf, Miley Cyrus, Blues Traveler, Foghat, Tori Amos, Kansas and Blue Öyster Cult.

Lynn's Paradise Cafe was a restaurant in The Highlands neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky. It had been open since 1991, originally in the Crescent Hill neighborhood, until it moved into a former grocery store in The Highlands. It had been featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show and Throwdown! with Bobby Flay on Food Network, where Lynn Winter, founder and chef, defeated Bobby Flay in a breakfast contest. It was known for its kitschy style in both decor and food. Both the exterior and interior were painted vividly and decorated eclectically. It was well known for its breakfast (fruit-sauced tropical French toast, Bourbon-ball French toast, and scrambled eggs with kielbasa whipped in are typical Lynn's fare), but also served lunch and dinner. Lynn's Paradise Cafe hosted many events throughout the year, and was especially busy for a New Year's Eve and New Year's Day pajama party. It sponsored the "Ugly Lamp Contest" at the Kentucky State Fair annually. It started when Winter was asked to judge the "Costume Poultry Show" at the Kentucky State Fair sponsored by Morton H Sachs investment manager of The Fairmont Fund; she felt that she could come up with something new. The restaurant closed for good on January 12, 2013, in the midst of a controversy over new tipping policies at the restaurant, and accusations of labor law violations.

Mid City Mall is a shopping mall in Louisville, Kentucky's Highlands area. While called a mall, and containing an enclosed shopping area, it has features atypical of suburban American malls, such as a comedy club, bar, grocery store and public library. A 1994 article in Louisville's Courier-Journal newspaper argued that the mall could be considered the "crossroads" of Louisville, and described it as being "only part shopping center, because it is also community center, courthouse square and retirement-village rec room."

Cave Hill Cemetery is a 296-acre (1.20 km2) Victorian era National Cemetery and arboretum located at Louisville, Kentucky. Its main entrance is on Baxter Avenue and there is a secondary one on Grinstead Drive. It is the largest cemetery by area and number of burials in Louisville. Cave Hill was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. Cave Hill National Cemetery, containing military graves, is also on the National Register, added in 1998.

The German Evangelical Church of Christ Complex (Christ Evangelical Church; United Church of Christ Complex) is a historic church complex at 1236 E. Breckinridge Street in Louisville, Kentucky. It was built during the years 1902 to 1929 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.The complex was deemed significant "in the area of ethnic and social history between the years 1902 and 1929. The German population was an important element to the settlement of Louisville. It was during this period the strength and influence of the German community was weakening due to national and international conflicts. The church, which is an excellent local example of Romanesque Revival style architecture, the rectory and the gymnasium addition, served as neighborhood symbols offering religious and social activities for its congregants to embrace."

Irish Hill is a neighborhood east of downtown Louisville, Kentucky USA. It is bounded by Baxter Avenue to the west, Lexington Road to the north, the middle fork of Beargrass Creek and I-64 to the east. Cave Hill Cemetery is located directly south of Irish Hill. It is in the inner Highlands area of Louisville.

St. Therese of Lisieux Church is a historic Catholic church in Louisville, Kentucky. It belongs to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Louisville. The church, along with the associated school and rectory, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.The historic listing includes the St. Therese School, built in 1906–08, which is a plain brick building that is the oldest building of the complex.

The Cherokee Triangle is a historic neighborhood in Louisville, Kentucky, USA, known for its large homes displaying an eclectic mix of architectural styles. Its boundaries are Bardstown Road to the southwest, Cherokee Park and Eastern Parkway to the southeast, and Cave Hill Cemetery to the north, and is considered a part of a larger area of Louisville called The Highlands. It is named for nearby Cherokee Park, a 409 acres (1.7 km2) park designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, the designer of New York's Central Park.
