The Center for Emergency Medicine of Western Pennsylvania is a multi-hospital consortium based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It is claimed to be one of the world's premiere centers of Emergency Medicine and EMS development. It currently ranks sixth for residencies in emergency medicine by reputation.Currently, the center's member hospitals include the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Presbyterian and Shadyside hospitals, UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, and UPMC Mercy. The "Center" as it is known, has several distinct offices:

Forbes Hall is a residence hall of the University of Pittsburgh (Oakland campus) and is located in Forbes Pavilion on Forbes Avenue approximately four blocks from the Litchfield Towers complex. The name Forbes Hall, which specifically refers to the residence hall component of the building, is sometimes interchangeably used with the name Forbes Pavilion, which refers to the entire six-story structure.

The University of Pittsburgh, School of Nursing is the nursing school of the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt), located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Founded on April 6, 1939, the Pitt School of Nursing was officially separated from the School of Medicine and became an independent, professional school within the university. Ruth Perkins Kuehn served as the school's first dean and become the first nursing school dean in the country to earn a doctoral degree. The Pitt School of Nursing is currently ranked tied for 7th in the United States, according to U.S. News & World Report.

Lothrop Hall is a major student dormitory at the University of Pittsburgh's main campus in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Lothrop Hall is located adjacent to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) on Lothrop Street near Fifth Avenue, this hill is often referred to as "cardiac hill" due to its steep grade and its accessibility to medical care. The Hall is made up of 14 floors, some of which are segregated by sex in each wing (north and south). Most rooms in the hall are single occupancy (with sinks), with some double occupancy as well, and even some tripled on floors 2-10. The dorm houses 723 people, in addition to a resident director and 15 resident assistants.

UPMC Magee-Women's Hospital known simply as Magee-Womens Hospital, is a nationally ranked, 335-bed non-profit, full service specialty hospital located in South Oakland, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Magee-Womens is a part of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). The hospital is near UPMC's flagship campus which houses Presbyterian and Montefiore. While the hospital is UPMC's primary facility for women's health, the hospital is a full service hospital that also serves men. As the hospital is a teaching hospital, it is affiliated with University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

Forbes Tower is a building of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. Located directly behind the historic Iroquois Building, Forbes Tower was designed by the architectural firm Tasso Katselas Associates and was completed in 1996 at a cost of $55 million and sits over the top of a 572-car underground parking garage. The University of Pittsburgh jointly utilizes the building, with 55,100 square feet (5,120 m2) of offices, classrooms, and labs constructed on the third, fourth, fifth and sixth floors for University of Pittsburgh School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences ($13.2 million of the project cost).The School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, which moved from the now demolished Pennsylvania Hall in 1996, shares space in the building with programs and centers jointly run by it and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. The school's programs include clinical dietetics and nutrition, emergency medicine, communication science and disorders, health information management, athletic training, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and rehabilitation science and technology.

UPMC Heart and Transplant Hospital at UPMC Presbyterian is a planned, 620-bed non-profit, specialty hospital located in Oakland, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The hospital is planned to be adjacent and attached to UPMC Presbyterian, and will be a member of the health network, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. The hospital is designed to highlight the world-famous transplant program at UPMC, made famous by pioneer, Dr. Thomas Starzl. UPMC Heart and Transplant Hospital will the region's largest hospital dedicated to one specialty. As the hospital is slated to be a teaching hospital, it will be affiliated with University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. The addition will add 900,000 square feet to space on the UPMC Presbyterian campus, without adding any beds overall. Patient care units at Presbyterian will be converted to offices.

The Medical Arts Building in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is a building of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. It is the headquarters of the Association of American Cancer Institutes. It is an Art Deco-style building built in 1932.

UPMC Presbyterian (often referred to locally as Presby) is a 900-bed non-profit research and academic hospital located in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, providing tertiary care for the Western Pennsylvania region and beyond. It comprises the Presbyterian campus of the combined UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside hospital entity. The medical center is a part of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center health system and is the flagship hospital of the system. UPMC Presbyterian also features a state verified Level 1 Trauma Center, 1 of 3 in Pittsburgh. Although UPMC Presbyterian has no pediatric services, Presby has the equipment to stabilize and transfer pediatric emergency cases to the nearby UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.UPMC Presbyterian is affiliated with the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and is physically conjoined to the medical school's primary facility, Scaife Hall. UPMC Presbyterian is also connected via enclosed pedestrian bridges and tunnels to UPMC Montefiore hospital, UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital, the Eye & Ear Institute, Falk Clinic, the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing's Victoria Hall, the University of Pittsburgh's (Pitt) Lothrop Hall student residence, and multiple university biomedical science towers.Despite the name, UPMC Presbyterian has no affiliation with the Presbyterian Church, aside from the founder being the wife of a Presbyterian minister.

St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was an early example of the archaeological phase of Gothic Revival architecture, designed by the Philadelphia architect John Notman. It was originally built in 1851 at the corner of Grant and Diamond as a chapel of ease for Trinity Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Pittsburgh. The church and its site were purchased by Henry Clay Frick. The building itself was donated back to the congregation. It was dismantled, the stones numbered, and taken up Forbes Avenue in horsedrawn wagons to the corner of Forbes Avenue and Craft, where it was reconstructed in 1901. It received a plaque from the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation. The church was deconsecrated in September 1989, and the building was demolished.

Carlow University is a private Catholic university in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It was founded in 1929 by the Sisters of Mercy. Carlow's thirteen athletic teams are the Celtics, a reflection of the university's Irish heritage and roots. In 2017–2018, the student body was 84% women and 16% men.
