The Center for Emergency Medicine of Western Pennsylvania is a multi-hospital consortium based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It is claimed to be one of the world's premiere centers of Emergency Medicine and EMS development. It currently ranks sixth for residencies in emergency medicine by reputation.Currently, the center's member hospitals include the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Presbyterian and Shadyside hospitals, UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, and UPMC Mercy. The "Center" as it is known, has several distinct offices:

Forbes Tower is a building of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. Located directly behind the historic Iroquois Building, Forbes Tower was designed by the architectural firm Tasso Katselas Associates and was completed in 1996 at a cost of $55 million and sits over the top of a 572-car underground parking garage. The University of Pittsburgh jointly utilizes the building, with 55,100 square feet (5,120 m2) of offices, classrooms, and labs constructed on the third, fourth, fifth and sixth floors for University of Pittsburgh School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences ($13.2 million of the project cost).The School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, which moved from the now demolished Pennsylvania Hall in 1996, shares space in the building with programs and centers jointly run by it and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. The school's programs include clinical dietetics and nutrition, emergency medicine, communication science and disorders, health information management, athletic training, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and rehabilitation science and technology.

The Croatian Fraternal Union Building is a historic building in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It is the former headquarters of the Croatian Fraternal Union, the oldest and largest Croatian organization in North America, and a significant site in Croatian American history. The building was designed by Pierre A. Liesch in the Flemish Gothic Revival style and built in 1928–9.

The Medical Arts Building in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is a building of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. It is the headquarters of the Association of American Cancer Institutes. It is an Art Deco-style building built in 1932.

Lothrop Hall is a major student dormitory at the University of Pittsburgh's main campus in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Lothrop Hall is located adjacent to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) on Lothrop Street near Fifth Avenue, this hill is often referred to as "cardiac hill" due to its steep grade and its accessibility to medical care. The Hall is made up of 14 floors, some of which are segregated by sex in each wing (north and south). Most rooms in the hall are single occupancy (with sinks), with some double occupancy as well, and even some tripled on floors 2-10. The dorm houses 723 people, in addition to a resident director and 15 resident assistants.

UPMC Heart and Transplant Hospital at UPMC Presbyterian is a planned, 620-bed non-profit, specialty hospital located in Oakland, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The hospital is planned to be adjacent and attached to UPMC Presbyterian, and will be a member of the health network, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. The hospital is designed to highlight the world-famous transplant program at UPMC, made famous by pioneer, Dr. Thomas Starzl. UPMC Heart and Transplant Hospital will the region's largest hospital dedicated to one specialty. As the hospital is slated to be a teaching hospital, it will be affiliated with University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. The addition will add 900,000 square feet to space on the UPMC Presbyterian campus, without adding any beds overall. Patient care units at Presbyterian will be converted to offices.

The University of Pittsburgh, School of Nursing is the nursing school of the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt), located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Founded on April 6, 1939, the Pitt School of Nursing was officially separated from the School of Medicine and became an independent, professional school within the university. Ruth Perkins Kuehn served as the school's first dean and become the first nursing school dean in the country to earn a doctoral degree. The Pitt School of Nursing is currently ranked tied for 7th in the United States, according to U.S. News & World Report.

Oakland is the academic and healthcare center of Pittsburgh and one of the city's major cultural centers. The neighborhood is home to three universities, museums, and hospitals, as well as an abundance of shopping, restaurants, and recreational activities. Oakland is home to the Schenley Farms National Historic District which encompasses two city designated historic districts: the mostly residential Schenley Farms Historic District and the predominantly institutional Oakland Civic Center Historic District. It is also home to the locally designated Oakland Square Historic District. The Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire has Fire Station No. 14 on McKee Place and Fire Station No. 10 on Allequippa Street in Oakland.

The School of Public Health (sometimes shortened to Pitt Public Health) is one of 17 schools at the University of Pittsburgh. The school, founded in 1948, was first led by Thomas Parran, surgeon general of the U.S. Public Health Service. It is ranked as the 13th best public health school in the United States by U.S. News & World Report. In addition, it is ranked third among public health schools for funding received from the National Institutes of Health. It was the first of only two fully accredited schools of public health in Pennsylvania (the other being Drexel University's School of Public Health in Philadelphia). The school offers a Bachelor's of Science in Public Health (BSPH), Masters of Public Health (MPH), Master of Science (MS), Master of Health Administration, and doctoral degrees (PhD, DrPH) in areas such as behavioral and community health sciences, biostatistics, environmental and occupational health, epidemiology, health policy and management, human genetics, and infectious disease and microbiology.

Parran Hall is the former name of an academic building on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh on Fifth Avenue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. The building, constructed to house the Graduate School of Public Health, was completed in 1957, and designed by Eggers & Higgins, architects of the Dirksen Senate Office Building, in the International Style with a major addition by Deeter-Ritchey-Sippel and Crump completed in 1967. The school was founded in 1948 with a $13.6 million grant ($153.4 million today) from the A.W. Mellon Educational and Charitable Trust. It was originally named after Thomas Parran Jr., a former head of the United States Public Health Service at the time the Public Health Service was sponsoring the Tuskegee experiment, in which patients with syphilis were studied but did not receive treatment for the disease.The nine-story building is the primary home of the Graduate School of Public Health. The building encompasses an entire city block bounded by Fifth Avenue, Bouquet, O'Hara, and DeSoto Streets. It contains a 282 seat auditorium, lounge, administrative offices, seminar rooms, classrooms, and faculty offices.

The College of Business Administration (CBA) is one of the 17 schools and colleges of University of Pittsburgh located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. The CBA is the second largest degree granting school or college in the university and offers undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degrees. The CBA is a constituent college of the university's Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business and is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International). The CBA is part of Pitt Business, which refers to the collective capacity of the University of Pittsburgh's Katz Graduate School of Business, which offers Masters of Business Administration degrees and other graduate programs, the College of Business Administration and five education and research centers.

Sennott Square is a major academic building on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. The building designed by the architectural firm JSA was dedicated on September 5, 2002, and was the largest Pitt academic building constructed since 1978. The six-story, 248,000 gross-square-foot facility cost approximately $35 million and occupies a city block and is bounded by Sennott and Bouquet streets and Forbes and Oakland avenues. It combines classroom and office space with retail space on the ground floor facing Forbes and Oakland Avenues. The second floor of the building is dedicated to the College of Business Administration, Pitt’s undergraduate business college. Floors three and four are used by the Department of Psychology, while the fifth houses the University of Pittsburgh School of Computing and Information's Department of Computer Science, the Intelligent Systems Program, and the School of Law's Civil Practice Clinic. The sixth floor houses the Computer Science department exclusively. The building has nine classrooms and two large seminar rooms, including a $400,000 Eli Lilly videoconferencing lab. The first floor is committed to retail space, currently including a Panera Bread. The facility has 72 short-term parking spaces underground and 18 metered street-level parking spaces.[1] From a foundation that incorporates more than one million pounds of reinforcing rods and 575 truckloads of concrete, Sennott Square rises six floors above street level to provide more than 117,000 square feet (10,900 m2) of functional space. The first floor contains nearly 17,000 square feet (1,600 m2) of retail shops with access from Forbes Avenue. On Sennott Street, two parklets with benches and ornamental shade trees provide places to relax.[2][3] The University of Pittsburgh's first building incorporating "green" construction techniques throughout, Sennott Square is environmentally friendly and energy efficient. All carpeting was made from recycled materials, and built-in recycling bins have been installed on every floor. In addition, the building employs computer-based lighting, temperature controls, and other systems to maximize energy efficiency.[4]
