Carlow University

St. Agnes Church is a historic former Roman Catholic church in the West Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The church was built in 1916–17 and was designed by noted Pittsburgh-based ecclesiastical architect John T. Comès. St. Agnes parish was established in 1868 and a temporary church opened in 1873 at 2400 Fifth Avenue in Uptown. This was replaced with a permanent church in 1889, but the building burned down along with several neighboring structures on January 21, 1914. Following the fire, the present church was built about 0.3 miles (0.48 km) to the east of the old location. The new building was dedicated by Bishop Regis Canevin on January 28, 1917.Due to population loss in the Diocese of Pittsburgh, St. Agnes closed in 1993. The church and rectory were sold in 1996 to neighboring Carlow College (now Carlow University). St. Agnes was named a Pittsburgh Landmark by the Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation (PHLF) in 2000, and in 2013 a Pennsylvania state historical marker was placed at the site honoring the architect, Comès. In 2020, the university announced plans to demolish the church in order to build a new 10-story health science facility. The university removed the historical marker in front of the church shortly afterward. The church was one of three sites placed on Preservation Pennsylvania's 2021 At Risk list, which highlights threats to historic buildings in Pennsylvania.St. Agnes is constructed from brown brick and concrete with stone and terra cotta ornamentation including a large, stylized rose window which incorporates a relief depicting the Crucifixion. The design of the church was described by PHLF architectural historian Walter C. Kidney as "acknowledging no one historic style—Byzantine and Romanesque are both suggested—and original in its rose window and Crucifixion." The plan of the building is cruciform with side aisles and a higher nave which includes a clerestory. The columns are gray New Hampshire granite with concrete capitals. The interior is also decorated with a series of murals painted in 1931 by Felix Lieftuchter with the assistance of two Carlow art students.

St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was an early example of the archaeological phase of Gothic Revival architecture, designed by the Philadelphia architect John Notman. It was originally built in 1851 at the corner of Grant and Diamond as a chapel of ease for Trinity Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Pittsburgh. The church and its site were purchased by Henry Clay Frick. The building itself was donated back to the congregation. It was dismantled, the stones numbered, and taken up Forbes Avenue in horsedrawn wagons to the corner of Forbes Avenue and Craft, where it was reconstructed in 1901. It received a plaque from the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation. The church was deconsecrated in September 1989, and the building was demolished.

The University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy is the graduate pharmacy school of the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. Founded in 1878, it offers Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees, as well as a residency training program. The school is one of the university's six schools of the health sciences and is ranked in the top 10 of pharmacy schools according to U.S. News & World Report.

The University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine is the dental school of the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt). It is located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. It is one of Pitt's six schools of the health sciences and one of several dental schools in Pennsylvania. It is closely affiliated with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. The School of Dental Medicine accepted 3.6% of applicants for the class of 2016, a record low for the school's entire history. It is located in Salk Hall on Pitt's campus. Each year, between 70 and 80 students graduate from Pitt's D.M.D. program. Admission into the School of Dental Medicine is highly competitive. Eighty incoming students were accepted out of 2,200 applications submitted. Total mean college GPA of incoming students in 2017 was 3.74 (science 3.67); academic average DAT score was 21.6. Dr. Bernard J. Costello is the School of Dental Medicine's current dean as of 2018.

Jonas Salk Hall at the University of Pittsburgh is a Pennsylvania state and Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation Historic Landmark. The Art Deco building is named after Jonas Salk, who conducted his research on the first polio vaccine in a basement laboratory while on the faculty at the University of Pittsburgh.

The University of Pittsburgh, School of Nursing is the nursing school of the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt), located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Founded on April 6, 1939, the Pitt School of Nursing was officially separated from the School of Medicine and became an independent, professional school within the university. Ruth Perkins Kuehn served as the school's first dean and become the first nursing school dean in the country to earn a doctoral degree. The Pitt School of Nursing is currently ranked tied for 7th in the United States, according to U.S. News & World Report.

Fitzgerald Field House is a 4,122-seat multi-purpose athletic venue on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. Fitzgerald Field House is named for Rufus Fitzgerald, a past chancellor (1945–1955) of the university. It is the primary home competition venue for the university's gymnastics, volleyball, and wrestling teams.

The Croatian Fraternal Union Building is a historic building in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It is the former headquarters of the Croatian Fraternal Union, the oldest and largest Croatian organization in North America, and a significant site in Croatian American history. The building was designed by Pierre A. Liesch in the Flemish Gothic Revival style and built in 1928–9.

UPMC Magee-Women's Hospital known simply as Magee-Womens Hospital, is a nationally ranked, 335-bed non-profit, full service specialty hospital located in South Oakland, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Magee-Womens is a part of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). The hospital is near UPMC's flagship campus which houses Presbyterian and Montefiore. While the hospital is UPMC's primary facility for women's health, the hospital is a full service hospital that also serves men. As the hospital is a teaching hospital, it is affiliated with University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

Joseph C. Trees Hall is a multipurpose student, staff, faculty recreational facility on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. First opened in 1962 with a second phase of construction was completed in 1965, Trees Hall houses the School of Education's Department of Health and Physical Activity, various student recreation facilities, a pool that serves as the home to Pitt's varsity men's and women's swimming and diving teams, and the primary training facility for Pitt's varsity women's gymnastics team.

The Petersen Events Center (more commonly known as "The Pete") is a 12,508-seat multi-purpose arena on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh in the Oakland neighborhood. The arena is named for philanthropists John Petersen and his wife Gertrude, who donated $10 million for its construction. John Petersen, a Pitt alumnus, is a native of nearby Erie and is the retired president and CEO of Erie Insurance Group. The Petersen Events Center was winner of the 2003 Innovative Architecture & Design Honor Award from Recreation Management magazine.
